When looking at their response they are quickly trying to take blame off of themselves. None of those things they mentioned were relevant to me. I have had several people message me and tell me they were also burned badly by this company. And they have never once apologized for deforming my legs. Although the nurse practitioner that helped me was nice, the owner of this place says one thing and does a completely different thing. They over charge for their services and also she told me I had to pay one price for my service if they charge my card on the spot and when I went a week later to do the service, they told me I need to pay more. I used to come to Dermabare in 2014 for laser hair removal. The office itself is very well-kept and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I have gone there for different treatments and I'd say only one nurse is doing a god job, her name starts with M :-) All other nurses literally burned me and I was so unhappy with them. Rude staff is not an issue anymore and belongs to past, but I have had that experience many time back in 2006 & 2007--before they change their names to Solaris. Overall, I am happy with the results except for the burn marks which hopefully will go away. read more

i discovered that a friend of mine was completing her laser hair removal treatments. FINALLY, i had someone to ask about laser hair removal! i've been obsessing with it for a while.... she told me about solaris, its spa like waiting room and 0 commitment consult. so after lagging for a bit, i finally made my appointment. i walked, no waiting and got my consult and a short and painless test on the leg. i got the good to go signal and that all i had to do was give them my cc card so that a week from my first treatment, i would get charged..... i had second thoughts about it about a week before my first session. and i saw they charged my card. i guess there was no turning back now! i finished my first appointment.... lemme just say wow.... the painless test turned into some serious sensitivity. i say that cuz it really didn't hurt the whole time. just in specific areas...... and after a few minutes the tingling sensation/burning sensation goes away... well at least it went away quickly in my underarms.... it was the longest 15 minutes of my life! i'm rather nervous about my next few sessions since the laser is going to be at a higher pulse rate (i.e. will be stronger).... So its been about 4 weeks since my first treatment. Let me just say I shaved my underarms 4th of July and not since... I have maybe 4 little light hairs. I've noticed in my bikini area the hair grows back sooo slow and very light! Unbelievable results! I don't even know if I will need all 6 sessions. I think I'll be doing my legs next :) I'll update again after my 2nd treatment in 2.5 weeks *****UPDATE**** SO here is it as promised: I just had my 2nd session!!! I dunno why so many people are hating. TO SHERRY K just to clarify I am not a friend of anyone here just someone who bought a groupon and have bee happy so far. I mean my hair barely grows back. It feels great not having to shave or wax. After my first treatment for my underarms I shaved 2 days later 4th of July and I didn't shave at all for the next 6 weeks! If you look super close up like nose to armpit close you can see the 5 soft light un-noticable hairs grew back! I'm shocked! My bikini did finally start growing back in the last week... very spotty and sooo slowly. To be fare they do say that results vary with every person. So I really dunno what skin/hair color you have for those who are not satisfied. But I'm super pale with dark brown hair and thats the best candidate for this from what I hear. My friend is the same as me and also has had great results. Sorry to all the blondes ... this is gonna take way longer for you and not be as effective because your skin pigment and hair pigments are too close together. This bigger the difference between the 2 the better. Same if you have dark hair and dark skin. This week there was a mix up with my appt. I had it down for 1:40pm and they had it down for 11:40am! WOOoops! Well when I came in they said no problem and they had the nurse take care of me! She said she was just about to clock out as she was done for the day but she took me in anyways. That was very nice. No attitude. I dunno whose fault the timing thing was but they were so nice to get me in within minutes. I've never had to wait it's always get in and get out. I really don't know why this place has received so many bad reviews. I have been going to Dermabare for quite some time (since they were a small little office in the Oso Medical Plaza) and I LOVE my results. =) The staff is not rude by any means or try to take advantage of you. It's a BUSINESS so it's their job to SELL YOU their product/service. So why on earth people are complaining about that just blows me away. If you don't want a service then politely decline. I book my appointments in advance. Before I leave when my treatment is done, I book my next appointment for 6-8 weeks. I have tried a few nurses and yes they are all different. You have to find one that you are comfortable with. Personally, I love Lynn. I think she is terrific. I have had numerous areas of my body lasered and it has worked in everyplace! I think what the problem is that people expect immediate results and do not realize that it is going to take some time depending on your hair and skin. It requires PATIENCE. And you must follow the instructions/rules/guidelines they give you. ie: stay out of the sun, shave the day of your appointment, etc. Regarding the pain...the pain is bearable. You have to go in expecting a little bit of pain when you're getting something LASERED. The first few treatments of a new area is probably the worst pain but if you keep up with your routine and go when you are supposed to go the pain gets less and less as the hair gets thinner and disappears I really love this place and they have been really good to me and the people that I have referred to them. So let me start, It's a very long time that I'm going to this place for Lazer hair removal. At first the name was different and it was under supervision of a real doctor, not an eye doctor! I have got one of those packages that i have to continue the Lazer hair removal with them for so many years to come. First of all, it seems like the staff are always confused. They will forget to call you back when they say they would. If they change your appointment or the nurse you usually work with, they dont tell you till the last moment!! Which just happened half an hour ago to me and after four years of being their customer, i was fed up and just really wanted everybody to know all these cons of being their customer. Their appointment system is really f... up. I have got appointment cancelation when i arrived at their office for no reason, even after i got their confirmation phone call 48 hours before, twice. They don't validate their parking which is one of their usual cheapness! Yes the rumors are true, the staff are rude and unfriendly. That's ok if they were really good at their job which they are not!!! The nurses are ok, although I have to add I was burned with one of them!!! I didn't sue them, no apology from them either. The owner, which is an eye doctor, just cares about money and nothing else. If i remembered more negative points, i will add later. read more

Solaris was so much better...Dermabare is a rip off. All they care about is money. First off, the new machines suck. Yeah, there's no pain but at least with the old machine it actually worked! I had about 6 sessions for my legs with the old machine and I barely shave every other month barely anything grows out. After 5-6 sessions with the new machine on my arms and underarms no difference at all. But other than that their customer service is horrendous!!! I've never dealt with so many unprofessional, unorganized, rude people before. I've never walked out of here without being pissed off over something. Since I live about 35 miles away from here I always leave an hour before my appointment to get there 15-20 mins before my appointment, because you never know if I'll hit traffic. I've never gone in on time for my appointment, I usually wait 30-45 mins until I go in, which is whatever let me tell you what really frustrates me. Once I waited an hour after my appointment time...seriously? So the lady before me was 30 mins late so she goes in, but after she was done the receptionist made me wait even longer because they had to do a test patch on somebody. Are there really no other technicians? At least run by me first if it's okay. And I didn't think a test patch would take over 20 mins! But to add to my anger let me share with you my last experience at Dermabare... I was EXACTLY 10 mins late to my appointment because I hit Friday traffic (even though I left an hour early like usual) and the rude receptionist tells me in a dirty way since I was late the lady after my appointment will go then I can. My appointment was at 6:20 I came in at 6:29 (but according to their clock it was 6:30) and her appointment was at 6:40. I seriously wouldn't care but it's the principle of the matter. I always wait around 30-60 mins for my appointments and I'm only 9-10 mins late but need to wait for the appointment after me to go first?! It was only a lower back...it would take less than 5 mins to laser she could've waited. Oh and it turns out the technician I had an appointment with wasn't lasering me, some new lady was. I waited 2 months to specifically have an appointment with Lynn. You would think they'd have to common courtesy to call and let me know that she had training and ask if I would like to reschedule but oh wait THEY NEVER CALL ME. They call me for my mom's appointments but never call me or her for mine. Even though I've told them about this multiple times. They just give me attitude and say oh sorry- but don't fix the problem. The customer service is horrible and most of the receptionists need an attitude check. Heard the prices are increasing EVEN MORE. Definitely lost me as a customer and will lose my mother and a couple of my friends too after their sessions are done with. Does the manager/new owner even care about their business? Doesn't seem like it.. Only reason why I gave this place 2 stars is because Lynn is the best and I love her. read more

I got a groupon deal for this place. It was about $250 for six treatment on a medium area. Let me tell you, I've gotten laser treatments before, and their laser machines hurt like a mother! Even after using numbing cream at other places, it still hurt. Dermabare has this newer laser machine that doesn't require numbing cream. Dermabare uses the Lumenis, which uses a hand piece with suction to help pull the roots of your hair up so that it absorbs the laser better. I was so amazed with this new technology. The staff at the front office are extremely kind. The nurses in the back are even better. They walk you through the procedures and actually talk to you...to make the procedure feel less awkward haha. I've gotten Nurse Nancy; she's my favorite! I went for my 4th session today and got Nurse Eileen. She is also very good with patients. The only downside...well I wouldn't exactly call it a downside...was that you had to purchase your own tip for the hand piece for $15. You have to bring it to every office visit. It's not exactly a bad idea because you know it's YOURS and it's more sanitary that way. They often have specials here, so ask the front office. I'm thinking about getting my legs done in the winter, where sun exposure is minimal. read more

I bought a Groupon for Dermabare, and have so far been three times. I am extremely satisfied with the results, even though I am only half way through the treatment. I barely have to shave my underarms anymore, and feel confident that I will soon be finished forever! I have seen two different nurses, both fantastic. The laser, while unpleasant, isn't terrible. It is quick and makes the area feel a bit sunburned for a moment, then fine immediately after. Bottom line: I had 6 consistent treatments on my face and Brazilian and had minimal results on the Brazilian and the only result on my face was more hair growth. My confidence dropped and I was so upset that I had paid money to have this happen to me. I expressed my concerns multiple times to the nurses and to their business in general and, not only did they not even offer additional services but they were very quick to point the finger at everything but themselves. It would've been extremely courteous to offer to at least fix what they messed up. It would've also been nice to hear their warning that their machines can actually STIMULATE hair growth instead of getting rid of it. Maybe it's just me, but I don't find it okay at all to be paying good money for mystery results. I wish I had spoken to my mother about doing sessions there prior to the debacle. I was very emotional after and showed her my face and told her where I had gone. She and a dermatologist had a practice together where they did laser & my mother helped me to understand, after looking into their machinery, that the reason why their process is painful and the results aren't the best is because their machines and technology were outdated. The biggest tip she gave me for looking for another hair removal service is asking what kind of machines they use & what year they were purchased. Obviously to know whether or not their machines are actually 'good' you'd have to do your own research. read more

Im givinig only 2stars because i am not happy with the results whatsoever. It was a waste of money and time. EDIT on April 15th, 2012: It has come to my attention that the $450 I paid through Groupon is actually for six treatments of two areas. I wish Dermabare would have informed me of this oversight in their comment below, but instead I had to hear this from someone else. I plan on redeeming my remaining three treatments despite the time that has passed, as it seems I have no other option. ----- Seems like the reviews are all over the place... With a Groupon, an "upgrade fee" for a particular area, and $15 for a laser head, I paid around $450 for three treatments of two areas (**EDIT: it's six treatments of two areas). Well yeah, that is expensive. The treatments were also excruciatingly painful for me (the bf came w me one day and said he could hear me screaming from the lobby... true story) so I don't know if I'd ever do this again. Beginning with the consultation: it was misleading. It's supposed to precede your treatments in order to test your reaction to the laser. it was "required" before I redeemed my Groupon just in case there were complications / adverse effects. I found out later that the laser used during consultation is veryVERY weak and not even close to the level of the laser I'd be required to use on my particular skin/hair combination. Because the consultation laser was so painless, I went ahead and redeemed my Groupon, when I still had the chance to cancel it. Bummer. I was given a low [if not the lowest] pulse laser during consultation. Then I was hit with a crazy high pulse laser on my first appointment (and first ever experience with laser hair removal). Obviously, I freaked the hell out. Apparently because I have light skin and dark hair, that's the laser setting that will be effective. I had Mancy. She was not very happy with my behavior and had no patience with me. She basically said that I'd just have to suck it up because pain means the laser is working. And she only had 30 min to give me my whole treatment and I was wasting her time by being such a baby about it. T_T I convinced her to lower the laser to a medium pulse. And she brought me ice (didn't do much I think). If I was paying per appointment, I wouldn't have come back to DermaBare. I just don't think the pain is worth it. But because I had the voucher, I thought it would be a waste not to fully redeem it. The pain was still terrible each time around, but never as bad as the first day, even though the laser strength was upped every visit. The laser never got up to its recommended strength, however. Despite this, most of the treated areas stayed free of hair for more than 3 weeks. In the long run, I know I didn't get the most effective treatment because I didn't get the strongest laser I could. With that said, after three treatments on two areas, I still have scattered hair growth. I don't think that it was worth the pain and the ~$450. **EDIT: Again, it's six treatments of two areas and I do plan on redeeming my remaining three treatments because it would be a complete waste otherwise. I have been going to DermaBare since November 2010 and I love my results. I first started with 6-8 sessions for my bikini and underarms. I rarely ever have to shave my underarms at all anymore. Maybe barely once a month. My bikini grows back super slow and the hair is light. I probably have to shave about every two to three weeks. I might go in for touch ups now that I'm done with those sessions. But I was really happy with the results so I recently purchased their 4 + 4 deal on my lower legs. I just had my first treatment yesterday. I think the prices are reasonable and my favorite nurses are Lynn and Danielle. They are super sweet, personable, and they make you feel comfortable. The laser itself isn't that bad either. I've heard horror stories about it being so painful but it barely stings for a second and quickly goes away. I'm always recommending it to all my friends. And the friends that I've recommended to go their tell me they really like their results too. I say for the price and results, it's all worth it. :) read more

This was a mostly good experience. I've gone twice now, once with Lynn and once with another lady. Lynn is a fantastic nurse. She was sweet and caring. She made sure that the laser wasn't turne up too high, but was high enough to be effective. I have sensitive skin and was nervous, but she was patient and talked to me kindly the whole time. The last nurse I had was not as nice and put the laser up to the highest setting without asking, which was very painful. I recommend going and asking for Lynn. I'm not typically one to leave reviews but Dermabare really took me in when I was in a pinch and took great care of me! I had a really negative experience getting Morpheus8 at another facility and needed my third treatment done. I had an appointment scheduled for my third early last week at the other place and it was canceled unexpectedly with no notice (this happened multiple times). I explained my situation to the team at Dermabare and how I just needed my third treatment done soon as possible, as I was scheduled to leave town for a trip not long after. Dermabare listened to me and bent over backwards to get me in later that week. The office was clean and professional, everyone I met was kind and thoughtful. They were very empathetic about my last experience and wanted to give me a far better one. The actual Morpheus8 treatment was great, the nurse tried to be as swift as possible to lessen the discomfort without skimping on thoroughness. She really wanted me to be thrilled with the result! I bought a Groupon for 6 sessions in the summer and I will be going in for my fourth session this week. Before I bought my Groupon, I did a good amount of research and waited around for a good deal before I decided to try laser hair removal. I have to say, a lot of people who waltz into laser hair removal places do not know how to use google. It is not guaranteed and does not work for everyone. All of the nurses will reiterate this. I went in for a consultation a long time ago & was pissed that I had to pay for parking and a laserhead but then I got over it and figured that $15 is manageable. They did do a patch test that day and I made an appointment and went on my merry little way. I went in a few weeks later for my first session and it was not painful at all. I was shocked and thought I was so badass until my second session.... let me tell you. I had a Persian nurse the 2nd time and this lady was CRAZY. She literally said, "I want to see results" and lasered the shit out of me. She barely let me breath because the appointment is only 20 minutes and instead of handing me ice, she gave me some melted shit that did NOTHiNG. It wasn't until she saw me tearing that she realized she needed to get some real ice. I was pretty pissed at her at the time but that session showed major results. The third time I came back, I had a much much nicer nurse who told me the Persian nurses are ruthless but only because they really want to get rid of your hair. I definitely feel that if you want to get rid of the hair, there's no easy way out of this. When I went to a lower laser dosage, I really did not see much of a result. In between the 1st and 2nd session, I was having a lot of itchiness and I was really concerned about my skin. I gave them a call and they followed up by calling a few days after to check up on me. They suggested that I come in just so that they can take a look at it. They made time for me and answered all of my concerns. That was really great on their part. Overall, if you want to see major results, you're going to have to suck it up and take it. Remember to ask for ice beforehand and aloe vera/hydrocortisone when you are done. It helps a lot! Go after 6PM and on Saturdays for free parking. I would definitely try to get the best deal before coming here. So far I have seen about 50% reduction in hair and the hair has become really thin. I paid about $350 for two areas but I don't think I would ever pay more on something that is not guaranteed to work. Do your research and then buy! My only suggestion for Dermabare is a longer session. It would be nice to have a chance to breath in between lasers. There is NOT enough time. read more

I just finished my last appointment on Tuesday and I am extremely happy with the results!!!! I originally purchased the groupon package back in July of 2011 and I did my treatments every 6 weeks on time like clockwork. When I started treatments I had a lot of dark/thick hair that grew very quickly. After completing all my treatments I am honestly 98% hairless in all the areas that were treated, of course I have few very thin hairs that will grow sporadically but that is normal and I plan to do touch ups later down the road. I have not purchased any shaving razors in months and I usually never shaved in between sessions until the day of treatment. Hair free from the eyebrows down and loving it! I usually do not post reviews but I sincerely believe this place truly deserves 5 stars. I understand that things happen and people usually come to vent about it on yelp but I honestly think the bad reviews are isolated incidents and people should always read all the reviews and be objective before making any decisions for themselves. In my experience every company that does a groupon deal usually gets a ton of phone calls and requests for appointments all at once and it takes some trial and error to work out the kinks. Price: I feel that I got a very fair price, the groupon deal is a great deal, of course you have to purchase extra packages/time to completely treat any areas but I feel very happy with my results and the amount I paid. This place is definitely not the least expensive but it's not the most expensive either. Personally I feel you get what you pay for and especially when it comes to a laser on my body I want a high quality place for a fair price, that's exactly what I received. Parking: it does cost a few dollars each time you park $3-$5 depending on how much time you spend there but that definitely isn't a deal breaker for me. Staff: I saw 3 different nurses while being treated here and after having an appointment with nurse Lynn (spelling?) I decided to keep the rest of my appointments with her, she is very nice and makes you feel comfortable in a sometimes uncomfortable situation. The girls at the front desk are always nice and friendly. The lady that sold me the packages was honest about what outcome I can expect and was not pushy. They will even let you split up two payments so its not so much all at once and they often have great deals on packages/time. Appointments: once I had my appointment time changed on me and the front desk didn't realize that it happened until I showed up but minor detail, I got my appointment and after that day I always scheduled my appointments 6 weeks in advance to make sure I got the day, time and nurse that I wanted. She is always looking for ways to save you money and give each client the best bang for their buck! I also saw Kandy, who has an amazing eye and talent for the aesthetic work that she does. My experience with Dermabare - I came through Groupon - has been adequate. They DEFINITELY up-sell. They want you to add more sessions and more areas for more and more money. I expect this and have no trouble saying "no"... they certainly didn't "harass" me or anything. I WILL say they seem like they are a tad deceitful when it comes to what their "areas" are. (Be SUPER clear what you are buying because you may THINK you are buying one area but you are only really getting 1/3 of that area and they will try to up-sell you the other 2/3.) Yes, they WILL make you buy your own $15 plastic laser "head" (I don't know what it is called) that you need to bring each time. Yes, getting an appointment can be hard - especially with a specific nurse - they are full with a lot of groupon clients (I was one, so this is not a criticism). Yes, you do have to pay for parking during normal business hours. (Weekends are free.) My experience was OK. I think this depends on the nurse who is DOING your treatment. I liked Lynn a lot but could never get an appointment with her, unfortunately, Sometimes it was not very painful and other times it was VERY painful... not sure why. TIP - Ask the nurse to use ice, before and after... this helped! I have seen reduced hair... but it is definitely hair reduction, not removal. This is not dermabare's fault... this is Laser hair removal. I got 6 sessions and it worked pretty well on my armpits, not so well on bikini etc. I am kind of disappointed with my results (again, not dermabare's fault here). (The only FDA approved permanent hair removal method is electrolysis - it really works but it can be a LONG process. I HIGHLY recommend electrolysis for the face/chin/neck or any where else you want PERMANENT hair removal. -- It is $65 an hour and needs to be done many many times, but it really works, forever! Make sure to find a provider who uses 'multi needle", not just "blend" method.) As an alternative, laser was ok for hair *reduction* in larger areas. In summary - Laser hair removal was 50/50 for me... it is more reduction than removal and it can be painful. I am also 50/50 with Dermabare... it is clean and modern and they are friendly, nice, and helpful. I am not a huge fan of the up-selling, the lack of clarity on the areas & costs, the paid parking situation (they should validate), and the fact that you can't get in with the nurse you want. read more

I am very happy and satisfied with their prices, services, nurses and front desk staff. Like: Their staff are nice and most of the laser nurses are knowledgeable and accommodating. I still have a few more sessions left, but the hair is almost gone and I'm happy not to worry about a shave or waxing. Dislike: They don't validate for parking and those parking fees add up. Well, a friend told me about using a numbing cream. I did apply it about 1 hour prior to my 2nd treatment. She also recommended putting plastic wrap after you apply the cream. When i got there I was nervous...... this was going to be the moment of truth if I was going to continue doing this treatment. One of the reason I decided to put myself through this agony again is that I could already tell the difference in my pits and yahoo. I didn't have to shave daily. I maybe had to shave once a week and it's was feeling really smooth. Anywho, I was given a different laser technician and I was already feeling better with just that change. She seemed way more concerned with my comfort. She even had an ice pack to help with the pain. Okay..she started and I was waiting for the pain......... It was still painful but not nearly as bad as it was. It was something that I could deal with. When she went for the moment of truth I was waiting for it......... she zapped and I started laughing......It did hurt but I was elated that it wasn't crazy painful. So......needless to say I will be returning. I will give me final review after my 6th session. I've also requested to have the same chick when I return. :) read more
