This gin mill is your classic dive bar in a more run-down area east of downtown Astoria. Being a motorcycle Biker it's my kind of place. Cheap beer and they sometimes have food. Mostly a locals hangout. The people and staff are friendly but not overly so (at least with me..not being a local). Plenty of parking. I've dropped in for a draft once or twice a year for quite a long time. There are several decent dive bars close by. The building itself is kinda funky and photogenic.

They have three pool tables and Oregon Lottery.

This place has a really bad rap. I think that most people need to understand this is a locals bar. Sure it is a dive. It is supposed to be! This is the place to go when you want to be very casual. They have pool tables, and taco Tuesday, and all of the things a little local bar should have. The best thing about this bar is that they now have Heidi! We are from out of town and pretty much stalk this bartender where ever she goes. She runs a tight ship, is amazing at what she does and spends time with you. Super sense of humor too. She is one of the coolest people we have met in Astoria (we plan to move here someday from our own dive town of Oregon City). I simply tell you, you have to meet her. Hit up The Wet Dog Cafe on the waterfront if you want a upscale awesome experience (you may find Heidi working there on season), but the cool owners of The Wet Dog Cafe also own this little dive bar. They have Astoria Brewing Co beers on tap. Just keep in mind this is a local bar and is perfect in its own right. Reminds me of my little dive bar back home!

They have a ton of video games, especially pinball machines, which I love. I was excited to play them, but when I asked the bartender about it, she just explained how to scan a QR code and build an account in order to play them. it's really easy she said. Well, I scanned the code. built an account, created a password..etc. It was time-consuming. After I was done with all of that, I couldn't get the app to work on any of the games and I'm pretty good with technology. I couldn't find the bartender anywhere to ask her for assistance. So we had a beer, but I never got to play any games which I wanted to. Update. The owner response was very quick and I appreciate that in all businesses. They obviously take their business seriously so I added a star for that. I appreciate it. Thank you.

We didn't stay long but enjoyed a variety of alcoholic and NON alcoholic beverages which I need and so appreciated the options. It had a notable but small menu for food. Great atmosphere and decor was very space like. Some of the machines are VERY close together and not very chunky person friendly. The walkways are narrow so that's good to keep in mind. All of the games use an app to pay. Which my biggest suggestions would be charging stations or plugs for patrons because we both came in with low battery and would have stayed longer to play but couldn't pay for any more games because our phones died!

The set up here is quite interesting and comes very close to a one stop shop. It has part convenience store and beer bar all wrapped into one and the tap list of beer is pretty extensive. Lots of local or PNW area beers on tap but they also have some exclusive beers of their own that I almost missed. I was ready to go but Steve pointed this out to me so we got a beer here after all. I liked the tucked away seating and at the time we were there there wasn't anyone else having a beer so the peace and quiet was appreciated. The beer that we had was a lager and it was okay. It was apparently brewed out of Bend, Oregon but I am not sure if another brewery does this for them or not. The flavor highlights with this lager is a breadiness and somewhat of a clean aftertaste. It was fair but it kind of gave me the impression of a big corporate beer as I didn't see much personality to it in the flavor profile. But other than that I did enjoy my first visit to a Growler Guys and as the name implies you can bring in a Growler Bottle and select from the wide list of beers to enjoy.

On a beautiful spring day, we were on a meandering drive back to Seattle from a Portland weekend…read more We decided to stop in Astoria for dinner and to enjoy the view. The Knot provided the perfect combination of both. The food was excellent! In particular, we absolutely loved the pickled rockfish, salmon chowder, salted chocolate caramel custard and house-made citrus NA ginger ale. We happily enjoyed our meal while watching ships, seals, birds and ocean life. The server told us about the ships and even a podcast report to learn more about passing vessel traffic. It simply made me want to return for a longer and slower visit! Maybe to sit by the fire pit out front while watching life go by. A bonus was a (free) EV hook up adjacent to the property.

We got our bread and basically finished it before we got our drinks. The bartender was new and she was looking at physical recipes to make each of our drinks. Im glad we weren't in a hurry. The view is outstanding and you can sit outside in the nice weather which we had that day because the inside is very small. We even saw a sea lion swimming off the pier as we enjoyed our drinks. A little pricey for what you get but overall still good but not somewhere I would return to with all the other options in the area.
