Quaint, hotel, bar and restaurant. Has a small bar/restaurant seating but has a large outdoor eating/drinking and large conversation/seating area. It was a cloudy, sprinkling day but nice enough to sit outside and enjoy the river, ships, fisherman and the seals talking to anyone who would listen and chat with them. We had a charcuterie board with focaccia bread (a tad spendy but very good) and a toasted hazelnut salad which was very tasty and refreshing. Was a wonderful place to have your lunch hour. Overall great experience, nice staff, clean restrooms and peaceful lunch. PS: take a walk across the street to the 9th street park a take a few pictures. I got another photo of the Astoria Column from a different angle!!!!

This place is classy and top notch. Very nice. Staff is super efficient. Venue is clean. I felt the tomato soup was too thin but that's my opinion. The mushroom tart is a must try as is the tuna sandwich!!

This was a cool place! The lox platter was sold out (sad for me) so we ordered some crackers and cheese and soup. (Girl dinner I guess). It was upscale and unique. Great ambiance but yeah, I wish there were better menu options for tourists! Cocktails were very good! Service was great! Seemed like only one lady servicing the whole dining area and she did great! I liked seeing the sealions outside tho!!!

Located inside a hotel lobby, is a small but cozy space with pretty views. The menu isn't that big but the plates we ordered were pretty decent. The staff was really friendly and attentive.

Cocktails on the riverfront. What a view.

What can I say about this place? Amazing! Idyllic view of the passing ships on the river. Unbelievable cocktails like their Lemon Drops and Buttery Fleet. Outside seating (weather permitting). And great Scandinavian food (I'm told ... I never ate there). But I did love the cocktails! That's why I went their twice during my 3 day trip to Astoria. Do yourself a favor, find this bar (it's inside the Bowline Hotel riverside), grab a cocktail, and just enjoy all the incredible activity on the river.

The Knot - dill fig tartines and house made focaccia

We were staying in the hotel and had a couple of their snack items one night: house made focaccia and dill fig tartines. My mistake in not thinking ahead, but the tartines arrived using the focaccia so we ended up with a crazy amount of it to snack on. Good thing I love focaccia I suppose...and that theirs was quite good. The amount of fig spread was a bit heavy for our tastes, but after removing part of it the tartines had a good, interesting flavor. The bar/restaurant is small but cute, essentially making up the lobby of the hotel, as well as some seating outside. Great views of the river and a nice atmosphere. Wish I could speak of more menu items, but it's a unique menu and a lovely place.

I frequent Adrift locations, mainly Inn at Discovery Coast and it is my dream home away from home so I had to try out Bowline hotel. Standards are the same, attention to detail is perfect! Drinks are great and food was good. Most importantly the team is fantastic especially Heidie! Her communication about the sites amenities are detailed, food and alcohol service is quick and accurate and she is calm and polite to each customer, best customer service I've seen in a very long time. Way to be Adrift and Heidie! Thank you for the great experience!

Salmon Chowder and a decimated Coastal Seaweed Lox Platter*

This restaurant is in a boutique hotel on the Astoria waterfront. When I say on the Astoria waterfront, I mean over the water on a pier. You can sit next to the window and watch everything from fishing boats to cargo ships swim by and all the various weather the coast can throw at you. Our waitress at Tiffany was fantastic. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and she let us know this when we placed our order and coached us through the best things to try and not overdo it. And then there's the food, simply excellent. This food is definitely prepared by a chef that knows their craft, and cares about the quality. It's Scandinavian simple and absolutely delicious. We had the Lox platter and the salmon chowder and both were outstanding. And then there's the cocktails, we both had a brunch cocktail, and they were expertly crafted and presented. We will be back, and I would recommend this restaurant to anybody who wants to try something a little bit different and be pleasantly surprised.

Awesome place! Great food, on the smaller side but tasty. Good service and you can't beat the views. They also made some great mixed drinks. Definitely on my list again when visiting Astoria. It's also on the broad walk, if you want to burn off those calories after their delicious food!

Amazing service and food! Visiting town and saw a few people post about this place. So happy we got to try it! Located right next to the water, you get spectacular views while dining. Highly recommend the Thinly sliced Oregon Albacore and the Butternut squash Tarte tatin dishes and the Hot Tropic cocktail! Great experience overall!

After a few days eating lots of treats on a beach getaway, we were craving a vegetarian or veg forward lunch on our way home. I love to end Oregon coast trips with a final stop in Astoria, and The Knot Bar menu looked interesting and was on the water. We were not disappointed! Located in the newish Bowline Hotel, the Scandinavian- inspired menu had several interesting choices. We arrived prior to the full menu being available (2PM), but the brunch menu had an abbreviated version of the goodness. We started seated outside on the amazing deck overlooking the Columbia River, but decided to move to an inside table when it got a bit windy for enjoying food. Our server was very attentive and accommodating. We tried the house made soft cheese with rye crackers, bread and butter, cucumber salad and toasted hazelnut salad. Everything was stellar - fresh, flavorful and beautifully presented (my pictures show a few bites in!). This is not generally what one thinks of as hotel food, and we are already planning to come back and hopefully include a hotel stay to complement the food!

Lovely setting and great staff. My wife and I each had a cocktails and shared a couple appetizers. Perfect early evening relaxation!

Outstanding restaurant housed within the Bowline Hotel. We wound up eating here twice in one glorious weekend. Our first meal was on a Friday night--bitter salad and a shared ribeye steak, perfectly cooked. We also enjoyed Sunday brunch here--more bitter greens salads and butternut squash. The cannelloni was also delicious and perfectly prepared. The service is casual but professional, friendly and efficient. We found The Knot pitch perfect and look forward to returning in the future.

Appearances are not deceiving, that's all that there is. Plus, without the "wall o liquor" behind the bar, they are not going to make you "that cocktail you had once in the Bahamas" or even a whisky sour. Their boundaries are much tighter than that. But what they can do within those boundaries! They have charted a course through the heritage of the region, the Scandinavian taste for Akavit, and a flair for adventurous tastes and subtle flavors. And, every cocktail on the menu, has a story that goes with it! I can only speak to the two we ordered (this was a nightcap, not a bender) but they were clever, tasty, wholly unique in my experience, and not crazy expensive ($15 and $16). Apparently, a reported haunting and paranormal investigation led to the creation of "The Veil is Thin" described in the menu as a "Spicy Experimental Margarita." I am a lover of the things that come from the blessed Agave, so this is what I ordered. It arrives an the glass in the picture with a shot glass of fresh squeezed lime juice alongside. This is for the "magic trick" that takes place when you pour the lime into the glass. I won't spoil it for you, but it's not the dumbest trick I've ever seen, it works as a part of the experience. The ingredients are, now follow along in your hymnals children, house infused red cabbage tequila (!), Combier, fresh lime juice, Hell Fire bitters, dragon fruit garnish (not present in mine), black lava salt, white pepper and rose petal rim. It was spicy (especially in the aftertaste), sweet, with the heat of the white pepper and black salt on the rim. On top of that, it was a good Margarita to boot. It was an excellent cocktail and a nice, fresh take on a classic. The prohibition history of the area leads us to the Long Beach Iced Tea. With Vodka, Rum and sweet vermouth, you've got the basics, but then you elevate that with fresh lemon juice, house infused Earl Grey simple syrup, soda and then, of all things a garnish of fresh (bruised) thyme and it becomes something entirely different. You're not going to get hammered, which is what I expect from the Long Island version, but you are also not going to miss the aroma of the thyme making the drink that much better. The floral bergamot from the tea syrup takes you in a different direction and the fizz keeps the aroma flowing out of the glass. It's delicious, subtle, and worth repeating. They can accommodate larger parties by just expanding into the Broder Strand dining room, which is what happened when a boisterous group of celebrating women came in looking for a new stop on their bar tour. One of them even requested a custom drink and was, by all reports, delighted with the results. We have one more night, and I don't think we'll miss having another nightcap here. You should definitely check it out!
