A beautiful golf course with amazing views but our group experienced better service and conditions at other golf courses in the area. We booked three tee times and had a hiccup with the cart situation, which was thankfully resolved before we tee'd off. We were early for our tee times, but we still had to wait for the party in front of us to finish, resulting in a later start for our party. We did our best to keep up with the pace throughout the day, so we didn't have any issues with our pace of play. The course itself was a little rough. The greens were pretty bumpy which I wasn't expecting for the price we were paying. This was a decently challenging course, with the first hole starting out as a par 5. They had several par 3 holes spread throughout, which was fun. read more

This course was in ok shape. Fairways were a bit rough and greens were bumpy. The forward tees were longer than expected, clocking in at nearly 5300 yards. There were some nice mountain views from the course. Sand and water creates some interesting challenges. The fairways were quite narrow. No forgiveness if you go off the fairway as you are greeted with desert brush. Biggest downfall was how slow it played. With tee times 8 minutes apart, we teed off a few minutes late then played an over 4.5 hour round. It was just too slow to get into any rhythm as we waited on every shot. read more

This is for the food and the service in that area. The server was so nice and made our food and drinks well. It did take some time for the food to get to us but it was well worth the wait. My grandmom and I came during off season so it was very empty inside however the view of the Golf Course looked so beautiful!! We will be back to enjoy the view and the tasty food!! 10/10 read more

I played DD this morning with my son and used the golf moose deal, 2 riding for $90. The course is still in good shape. Not sure what all the gripe is about but it wasn't in bad shape at all. The round was quick, teeing off right before 8am and finishing just before 11am. The greens are in decent desert shape. A bit slow as they needed to cut it down more. The rough was super long and we lost a few balls in the thick rough. Putting greens open. Okay to share golf carts... Ended up shooting a 76 today with a 33 on the back nine!!! read more

I like the convience of this Golf Course, as it is so close to my location, in Desert Hot Springs. Also, the Driving Range is nice for great practice, with a groomed, grassy place next to handy cement pads for staging my golf bag and accessories. Also, the putting greens are conveniently located within close walking distance to the large parking lot and Golf Center. Nice, friendly representatives meet, greet, and welcome you, with a smile and friendly concerns for the novice and newbie, like me. Just played it " off season" which means less water, more heat and less cash flow for the course. It is my understanding that after October they start babying it and it is transformed. Would love to come back then. It does have some championship pedigree originally built in 89' by Robert Trent Jones jr. It is long and tough with deep bunkers and not many crazy carries over ganch. There are different tees for different skills and some very interesting areas just off the fairways. The clubhouse (what was open) is dated but roomy and staffed by very nice folks who were very interested in accommodating us even on such a slow time of the day. There is a huge sand driving range. Had the worst lunch at Desert Dunes Golf Course restaurant. I ordered their Fish and Chips. My husband ordered their Burger and Fries. What could go wrong? Everything went wrong. My fish were old and fried in old oil. Yuck! His burger was "below average." However, the view was spectacular. Maybe the golfing is good but their food sucks big time. Do not eat here. This is the maintenance man from this golf course who STOLE my mom's Ipad. If you plan on coming do not trust the front desk people and def do not leave any personal items unattended in your hotel room. I wasn't even staying at this place and he found a way to steal it from my room at Aqua Soleil hotel. It's like the run some theft ring between the hotels. He even admitted to me "there is way more expensive stuff in that shed then this!" The man at the front desk who goes by "juan or jeff" became hostile cussing me out over the phone when I confronted him that I had TRACKED my ipad to this shed location on their property! This golf course is extremely challenging on windy days, but luckily we played on a very mild day. The fairways can be narrow in places. A good piece of advice I received late in the game was the best way to play the sand hazards was to avoid them. To do so, pick your clubs to take a shorter shot rather than risking entering them The sand hazards are difficult because the sand is packed and they don't fill them with sand as the wind pulls them out. You have to pick the ball out, often at a steep angle and you don't want any roll because they'll run off the really fast greens. The course layout has mixed holes and offer some scenic views. There are water hazards. The wildlife is fun to watch. There are restrooms on the course. The pace is pretty fast, golfers didn't wait long. read more

The course is in pretty good shape. The elevation changes throughout the course can play a challenge tho. Same with the greens, but noticed green speed was favoring fast. Wind can play into your game as well with the location of course. Staff is very friendly, and felt the price was fair. read more

Loved the course layout. you need to be accurate with your shots if you miss the green your looking at bogey or worse. Ugh. Never again. Located near the windmills. Very narrow. So windy that we had to hunker down. Don't let your visor or hat blow off. Hang on! It's a Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed course. Doesn't mean much to me as a recreational golfer. I like flat and wide open greens. Our golf cart kept stalling. We called the pro shop who dropped off another cart for us at the 11th hole. Then when we got to the 18th hole, the replacement cart died completely This also occurred to my two sisters' golf carts. The pro shop claimed there was a power outage the night before, so no electricity. Even my bro in law who's an avid golfer said never again. read more

Fresh cut greens this morning making for some nice pure putts. Almost nobody on the golf course Friday sunrise. This course gets an extra for the location. If you want serene, quiet, non-pressure desert Golf this is the place to hit!! The course is a little rough around the edges and in need of some more maintenance but the greens are good and par's are easy enough to find. If your not "straight off the tees" bring extra balls. I really had no expectations of this course - but saw the pics online and the $55 special coupon weekends and had to give it a try. This course is very well maintained with scenic views of the mountains and valleys. I highly recommend it- no houses or condos line the fairways so you have an experience like no other within the LA area. I really liked this course and am looking forward to playing again. However, I am giving it a 1 star lower rating because of my most recent visit. On this particular morning there was a frost delay so we had to wait until the frost melted before we could tee off. One way of getting the frost off is by turning on the sprinklers which helps to melt it quicker. Soon we were on our way. The problem is that they over watered the greens to the point that 14 of the 18 greens had standing water on them. I'm talking about major lakes on the greens. Your ball would land on the green and there would be an explosion of water. It rendered putting a futile act and nullified some good shots into the green. Compounding the problem was the cold hard ground slowed the drainage of water, so we had to slosh the whole 18. As for the positives- this is a great layout just south of DHS and in the middle of nowhere. There are no homes or condos lining the fairways and the views of Mt San Jacinto and Mt San Gorgonio are spectacular. You really feel that you are out on a golf course far away from civilization, which you are! The course set up and design is fair and not tricked up like some of the other desert courses. From the back tees, its about 6800 yards and a fair test of golf. For the most part you will not get rat-fucked by some crazy architectural abnormality that stalks other courses. The clubhouse is a huge monolithic late 80s design built to withstand a nuclear blast and serves the purpose. You don't come here for the pro shop or the bar. All in all, this is fine track and an enjoyable course that I will play again (in the afternoon when the greens have drained). read more

Course in reasonable condition at the start of winter season. Bunkers need sand and TLC. Almost impossible to make a decent shot. A couple of pin placements wouldn't allow a putt to stop anywhere near the hole. A ball almost came to rest at the hole and the rolled off the green into a bunker. The marshal will follow you every single hole if they think you won't finish 18 holes in 4 hours. Also, make sure you take your credit card with you because they will take your credit card information for a single scratch on the cart or almost invisible curb rashes on the tire(not rims). Otherwise, will be sustained until your buddy brings it. read more

Despite the mild winds the course was nice for the low cost to play. One thing quite disturbing was I noticed the beverage girl by the name of shawndra took cash from her customer and stash it in her pocket. So this is a review of someone who only played once on a crazy hot day in August of 2019. The course layout is awesome. You can see why this course hosts events. It's one of those courses where, when it's in good shape, you could imagine playing it all the time. It is technically walkable, but I doubt they'd even let you and it'd probably kill you. So, I pay $25 bucks on-line. I get there at 530am with a 624 tee time because I want to warm up. The, apparently, only guy who works there, gets there at 6:05. So..No warm up, not putting. I get to the tee box and it's chaos. The guy I'm supposed to tee off with has already teed off and the foursome is pressing me so I tee off with a shorter club so I don't hit the guy. Needless to say, that first holed didn't go well. The second hole I tee off from the whites because I'm playing with an old guy and I figure I'm not really worried about my score given that I wasn't able to putt or warm up. It's 308 and I drive it to the green side bunker, which leads me to three points: 1) OMG does the ball fly out here. I'm a 250-275 7-8 handi guy and I hit multiple 300+ drives. I usually hit an 8 iron 150, 155 max and I flew a blue flag over the green at 166. 2) Some of the rough is absurd. I'm talking over a foot high, US Open shit. 3) And, I don't know WTF is going on with the bunkers. They are wet and there is no sand in them. I'm a solid bunker player, and I just couldn't get the bounce of my 60 degree under the ball. STAY out at all costs. It was like hitting off hardpan dirt. I imagine it has something to do with how hard the wind blows during the afternoons. One more thing, 4) there were weird pellets on some of the greens that make putting straight an impossibility (not duck shit and not punchings???) The ball will hit them. SO, I would play this course just for fun, ya know. Just grab a bunch of balls and blast away. If you are a low handicapper and you are going to try and go low, I think, if you are like me you are going to get frustrated. You'd need to play this course several times to know where you go for it and where you don't and where you need to be on the greens. Also if you are like me and usually can't hit it 300, it's fun to see what it's like to hit it 300 and reach par 5's over 500 yards in two. Anyway, for what it is worth, have fun out there and bring water and towels and tons of balls, because it's stupid hot. We played in 3 hours and by 930 it was 100 degrees. FORE!!!!! read more

Place is overall decent but other golfers complain to desert dunes staff that your going to slow when your waiting for the group in front of you. Desert dunes staff will then request let them pass and now your just stuck behind another group. read more

Visiting from Dallas, TX. Play usually once a week. This place was probably incredible at one point in time. It very under managed and maintained. Dandelions on the tee boxes, uneven tee boxes and probably hasn't been mowed in a week. Fairways we're pretty sad. We paid $50. Knowing what i know now I wouldn't play there or only pay $10. The people were very nice. Just being honest for visiting golfers. In that area it seems you need to pay over $100 to be at a decent place. read more

What happened to this place?..course was in ok condition for this time of year ..but come on snack bar closed no beverage cart .. and can't remember playing a course that did not have any signs letting you know what hole your on and what the yardages are .. until I see some more positive reviews will not be coming back anytime soon .. plenty of other better courses in the area read more

Windy, windy, windy here even when it is calm on the other side of the highway which makes Desert Dunes one of the most challenging courses in the area. This is not a course for the once a year golfer. However if you love a challenging course that requires some thinking, you will love this course. Built in the desert without any houses around the course with terrific vistas of the surrounding mountains, Desert Dunes is one of the most naturally beautiful courses in the valley. All of the holes are interesting to play; many of them are visually challenging requiring some real risk reward decisions. From the tee box many holes such at number 3 and 7 are better played using a 5 wood or an iron. If the wind is up the 9th, 16th and 18th holes are real challenges. The bunkers and greens are in excellent condition. They have a very nice practice area which is well marked with well maintained turf. The staff here are exceptional pleasant and accommodating. The only real draw backs here are the lack of fairway markings and some of the fairways are a little beat up. However the course is under new management so I expect at least some improvements. From a price standpoint, these guys are a deal at around $70.00 for this high quality course. Finally, it can be 85 in Palm Springs and it can feel like 55 to 60 when the wind is howling at Desert Dunes. Pack your bag with some warmer gear just in case. Well worth your taking the time to play this course. read more

Just played here, fair and a bit tough. I like it for the price, $70 GolfNow , in the height of the Season, and they throw in some free range balls. Practice facilities are good, grass range, short game area, etc. Nice clubhouse. What makes the course tough is lots of mesquite so if you get wild with your shots you will be punished. Every hole is different. Maybe one or two blind tee shots. We played it from 6200 yards and I fell apart, my fault not the course's fault. What could be better? Better course and hole markings or GPS in carts to give more of an idea for the layout, especially for newcomers to the course. Good value, read more

I am so sad to write this negative review to my historically favorite course. However, the course is in terrible shape. Dried dead grass on the front nine. The edging of grass to cart path was overgrown and not trimmed It has weeds all over on the green patches. It looks neglected. On a Wednesday you'd expect to see a flurry of green keepers but there was not one service person maintaining the grounds. The greens are bare thin and balding. It was an ugly experience and not worth the price. The pro shop staff are very nice and always optometric that the course is in great shape; but it's not. The pro shop was almost empty of clothes. The club house selection was also very limited for beverage selection. It looked as if was the end of August. read more

We booked a twosome on golf now for $41, given their rates should have been closer to $70 we got a smoking deal. If you listen to anything in this post listen to this (IF ITS WINDY, DO NOT PLAY). My friend and I are avid golfers and usually shoot somewhere in the mid 70's, the wind blew so hard that water was blowing out of the lakes and onto the fairways and greens. Weather app showed 50 MPH gusts. The course is narrow which normally isn't a problem for us but you have to left or left to right wind it's impossible to hit an accurate shot even if you do try to keep the ball low. Balls blew off the greens and our drivers into the wind were only going 275-200 yards if we were lucky. I want to play again, when it's not as windy. Pretty good food in the clubhouse. read more
