I no longer can recommend Desert Hills. After 5 years of trusting them, they did not return my call or email to schedule this year's maintenance. I called Anthony James Heating and Cooling to do the service. It turns out Desert Hills cut corners and did not install the unit correctly. Some examples: Quite a bit of attic Insulation was found inside the air handler, but on the opposite side of the coil, not where the return vent enters. The tech here now assumes they got the insulation in there during the installation and didn't clean it out before sealing up the unit. No wonder I've always had a dust problem! None of the PVC connections were properly glued. Instead of installing a proper vent pipe for the condensation drain, they just drilled a hole in an elbow. And, an emergency shut off was installed in case the unit produced more condensation then could drain or if the drain line clogged. Desert Hills came out and SUPPOSEDLY replaced the shut off switch. They did not! They simply disconnected the switch. The disconnected wires were just laying inside the unit. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! It will cost you so much more than you think you will save! I paid them to install two new a/c units in my home and they have never worked properly. My units fail regularly, freeze over and run 24/7 sending my utility bills soaring. I kept having their techs come back out but they could not solve the issues. They have no idea what they are doing. They just add tape and say, "we topped off your freon and found some air gaps." After 8-10 service calls Rachel agreed to allow me to get a second opinion inspection without voiding the labor warranty. I got 3. Every independent review stated my units were improperly installed and these are my issues: Unit one is overcharged, unit two is 2-3 lbs low on freon, re-used/contaminated freon is suspected, unit beginning to bow due to being improperly hung, many air gaps on both units blowing cold air into my attic, also causing the motor to run very hot and the compressor to overamp, overflow pan not installed properly and in danger of leaking to my ceiling, pinched return line, everything sloppily taped instead of being properly secured, they broke the disconnect switch and left all kinds of trash/debris in the attic. I am still under labor and manufacturer warranty and Rachel WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS/TEXTS. Worst experience ever! I am exhausted and discouraged. read more

I contacted Rachel at Desert Hills Heating & Cooling with a request for quote. She promptly replied with a quote that matched exactly what I needed in order to replace my old heat pump unit. I specified a 3 Ton 16 SEER Goodman Packaged Heat Pump System. After contacting a number of other heating and cooling contractors, some of which were very difficult to deal with, my gut told me to go with Desert Hills and my gut never lies to me. Paul came out 6 days before the job was to be completed, to take the measurements for the new elbow and stand. He was here on time and a real pleasure to speak with. June 7th, 2019, Paul and his coworker showed up almost an hour ahead of schedule, to remove the old heat pump, install the new elbow, and have everything ready for when the crane truck arrived. Even the crane truck arrived ahead of schedule, and had the new Goodman packaged heat pump up on my roof and had removed my old heat pump, all completed by 11:00 AM, when the crane truck was scheduled to arrive. After completing the installation, I am happy to report that my New Goodman, 3 Ton 16 SEER packaged heat pump system, is performing flawlessly. Desert Hills Heating & Cooling has not been in service as long as some of the other heating and cooling contractors I contacted, but they more than make up for it with their high level of service. I was actually disappointed at many of the complaints I found for those other contractors, and some of them charged very high prices for the same equipment. As for Desert Hills Heating & Cooing, the quality of their work is professional grade, their pricing was excellent, and their service and the way they treated me was excellent. My brand new Trane a/c unit was installed in my attic area crooked, causing water to leak into my walls, ruining the drywall and my brand new carpeting. Rachel was nice and sent people out every time, but they never fixed it. A/C units drip water all day, and it goes into a drip pan that then drains thru a tube to the outside. That's normal operation. My unit is crooked so that the water goes over the edge of the drip pan before it has a chance to use the normal drain tube. The overfull sensor that I paid for doesn't get wet, so it keeps running and dripping. You don't know it's happening until the ceiling/walls get so full of water that it starts coming up through the carpet. Bottom line is you don't want this to happen to you, so there are LOTS of other a/c companies that you should call. Now Rachel won't return my calls or texts. Going to have to call my insurance company to have the job repaired or redone. read more

I caught the temperature in my home rising early on and realized my AC was having problems late in the day. Out of three different companies, Desert Hills was the only one that was able to see me within a few hours. Paul was extremely professional and courteous. Even with my ancient unit, he diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. The reason this company only has 4 reviews is that they disrespect and ignore individuals. For OVER 2 weeks I was told by RACHEL that the job was being scheduled, then out of nowhere she tells me they can not do the installation due to "Lack of installers"! Is she referring to the ONE INSTALLER that she has? This company is kind of shady, they run MULTIPLE A/C companies in the valley, all under different names.....WHY? What are you hiding? Tell the TRUTH and don't keep creating companies and new names to gain business. AVOID AT ALL COSTS or be prepared to pay later to another company to fix the issues I gladly avoided! MULTIPLE emails, text messages and voicemails left all have gone unanswered in weeks. One house they installed in the AC could NEVER cool down the house....they said it was the windows, we replaced....they said it was the insulation, we added.....then, they said it was a faulty thermostat.....we give up!
