The salon is always clean, the beds are well taken care of, and the staff are super knowledgeable about their products. I've been a desert sun member for as long as I can remember. They've had good deals and I normally enjoy coming here for my tanning, red light, and I was excited to try the cocoon/ body wrap tonight for the first time. First off, the gal had her teriyaki half eaten sitting right on the counter for all the customers to see. Not very professional. Unfortunately there was no towel in the room, so when I was done sitting in the cocoon sweating on its highest temperature, high thermic, for 30mins, I got out and was dripping sweat and nothing to wipe it off with... so then I found myself trying to put my clothes back on my sweaty body. After that, I walked out and was going to tan, the gal at the front said room 11, so I went, took off my sweaty clothes, pressed the button on the wall so it would come on, but noticed the button said zero, she never hit the button... so I found myself laying there for 5-10mins waiting for it to come on and the tanning bed never turned on. So I put my sweaty clothes back on, walked out to the front and said excuse me, just so you know, you should probably make sure there are towels in the rooms, especially the cocoon, and the gal informed me they were all washing and in the laundry. Also, my tanning bed never came on. I'm sorry, but you expect your customers to wear a mask for the pandemic to be sanitary and protect yourself and others, but then you don't have enough clean towels to provide your customers? I felt completely gross leaving their salon today. The gal at the front didn't even apologize, not once. I'm extremely disappointed in Desert Sun and the customer service I had tonight. I have to say I I have been disappointed when I go to the sunrise location. I've been there a few times and no one's been there when the salon should be open. I watched the employee ( who I was advised is the manager) running in 10 minutes after the salon should be opened. I've also encountered friends of the same employee sitting there, with there kids "hanging out" at times when she was filling in at my home salon, which I find is very unprofessional. Ironically, it is the same person from Sunrise. To be honest, I don't find her very friendly at all. And when she is filling in at my "home salon" I don't want to go in because I know I will be bothered to buy something. I will purchase items on my terms and I will surely only make any purchases with my regular sweet, kind and friendly "home salon" girls on Meridian. Not with someone who shows up late to work and is not friendly at all to the customers. Desert Sun, I hope I heard wrong that she is a manager, because she needs to learn how to manage herself and follow the same policies and rules before she should be given the opportunity to manage others. Side note: It is so unhygienic to have the employees use the same rag when cleaning multiple beds at a time!! I will always insist on cleaning my own bed with fresh new clean towels!! So NASTY, maybe you should look into getting more towels so each bed is cleaned with a new towel! read more

Several months ago I purchased 2 tans from the Desert Sun in Burien. I only wanted to purchase 1 but was talked into purchasing 2. I told the girl that I was moving soon to the Tacoma area, she assured me I could use them at any location. Fast forward to now...I just went to the Desert Sun in Puyallup to use my last tan. She informed me that it "expired" would have been nice to know that something I paid for has an expiration date. I definitely would have used it!!! When I told the girl in Puyallup what I was told in Burien, she just said sorry. Then tried to sell more tans. Since it was my first experience with them and I'm new to Washington you would think they could honor giving a tan to a new customer. Good customer service is everything and they dropped the ball to make the situation right. Had she done the right thing I would have purchased more tans in the future, but now I won't return. read more

The tanning salon is great but, The employees however will CONSTANTLY try to squeeze money out of you each visit. The girl with the curly hair especially will try to run your pockets dry. i have show up to the salon at times when its supposed to be open and found it's not open when it's supposed to be, even the manager will show up late to the salon ! Don't bother coming here unless you're willing to spend money each visit or be peckered at for not spending any money! would not recommend read more

My previous review was absolutely beaming, but after my second experience here I'm left reeling. I've been tanning since I was 15 years old and I'm 28 now. I went in and the girl had the audacity to question whether my lotion was okay to use in the beds and demanded that I let her look at it. Hun. I can do your job better than you can. Sit down. Before she even looked at the ingredients I told her it had no mineral oil and I've been using it for two years. If this is how you try to get lotion sales, your employment will not last very long. She put me in the worst platinum bed I have ever used, I'm not sure where the bed I used last time went, but this bed didn't seem to get warm at all and seemed to have a layer of grime. Then I went to the spray tan booth after she told me to head back and sat there naked like an idiot for about 5 minutes before I picked up my phone and had to call the front desk because this nitwit didn't even turn the tanning booth on. She actually asked me if the light was blinking, if I tried hitting the button. No shit. I've been tanning for HALF MY LIFETIME. PLEASE. I AM NOT NEW AT THIS, BUT YOU CLEARLY ARE. Been going for two years, spray tan every week, I have a membership. I came in and the girl took my last name while she was eating Burger King, very unprofessional. There were 3 girls there total. We then had a problem because she was charging me for a the spray when I was getting add ons, I have a monthly membership here for sprays. I tried to explain it to her and she was completely resist to trying to solve the problem, I have a very special event tomorrow so I paid the over price she gave me. I feel scammed and the other girls there rolled their eyes and then laughed to eachother while I walked away. This location is way closer to me but I am now willing to waste more gas to go to a farther location because of the way I was treated. I'm guessing because they were around each other they wanted to act like know it all's and not try and communicate with me. read more

Every time I go in, the ladies are so nice and friendly. They never push you to buy anything you don't want. The two ladies working today around 2:30 went above and beyond and made me feel so good about myself. I would definitely recommend this location to everyone read more

The staff is nice and all but who really cares when they put you back in dirty beds. I had to have the girl reclean it and even after that there was still dried sweat all over the bed. GROSS!!!! Just make sure you check your bed because the girls here don't know how to do their job read more

I go to LA Fitness next door and have started to frequent this location and I enjoy the customer service! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Now, whether they are making stuff up to sell me things I'm not sure but they seem like they know what they are talking about. The bathroom and the rooms are very dusty, I know that there is a lot of traffic and it's a huge place to keep up so I get it. All in all it's convienant and so I'll keep going! read more

Fraudulent, dishonest, disceptive, misleading...they took my money without my permission. Don't come here unless you want to get lied to and ripped off! I originally went in to get a month or two of tanning before a vacation. I told the employee (turns out she was the assistant manager) that I just wanted the basic, cheapest package which was $29/month. She told me she could get me a "good deal" and upgrade me to the next best package up for only $35/month (which is normally $59/month) plus taxes, so it would be about $40 total with tax a month. I agreed to that and also purchased a pair of tanning goggles for $8. It would come out of my debit card automatically each month until I chose to cancel, which was fine with me. So my first month was $48 total (with tax and the tanning goggles). When I went to look at my bank statement, I was charged $60/month for the next 2 months!!! Like I said, she told me it would be about $40 after tax/month until I cancelled, but I was instead charged the full amount of $60! When I went to the store to talk to them, there was absolutely nothing they could do for me...no kind of refund, nothing. Bottom line...they are dishonest thieves. It's sad that they have to be so misleading to their customers to make money. read more

I went in today knowing what I wanted and all the girls there were so helpful and friendly. I signed up for the gold membership and I love that I can cancel at any time or put my account on hold. I didn't have to wait too long to use a bed. I haven't used the newer tanning beds so one of the girls showed me the ropes. I was very pleased with my whole experience here today and I look forward to my future visits. read more

Walked in this evening and was told that I owed $40.28 that was past due. I explained to the girl that was working there at 9:15pm that I cancelled my membership on the 24th of April and had proof. She continued to argue with me stating her system showed I cancelled on the 30th and that I had to cancel on or before the 25th so I would not be charged again. Then she proceeded to state i only owed $22.00 and I was confused because per earlier convo she stated I owed $40.28, as i questioned her she started talking over me and asked me to calm down. I handed her my debit card and she snatched the card out of my hand and was being completely rude the entire time. Every single time i go into these salons, I always encounter rude and disrespectful girls who think they can talk to you any way they want. Any concern over your account they feel they are always correct and have attitude. Once you turn the attitude towards them, then they want to act like the victim. I am so tired of this place that I will no longer come back and spend my money. They are the worse people I have EVER encountered with, especially the girl I met today. As i left the salon, i stated to her that if she ever snatched anything out of my hands again, that there would be a problem and i would contact management. She told me that i was banned from the salon because I was taking up for myself. I will be calling my bank and getting my money back. If I am "banned", then they have to give me my money back. Im tired of self-centered little 20 year olds who have no respect for people older than them and they think they can act any way they want. These girls need a reality check!!!!! I have been a Desert Sun customer for many years. Now my gym offers tanning for $9 month so I cancelled my membership. Unfortunately, the Puyallup location took it upon themselves to put my account on hold so they could continue charging me. They first said they thought that it was a mistake and that I meant to hold due to my history, then they said the paperwork wasn't filled out properly. Now, they REFUSE to refund the incorrect charge. They say I will have the credit in my account waiting for me when I come back or if I want to do a walk-in tan, or etc. Why would I come back when they fraudulently charged my bank card and did not cancel as I requested !!!! My membership is now cancelled - after several phone calls.... Ugh!!!! Don't trust them EVER again!!!!! read more

I LOVE the ladies that work here so much always so helpful and pleasant. Very clean and even better they have tanning stickers up the ying yang. Definitely recommend coming to this place. The only desert sun I will come to. I use to drive all the way across town to come to this location. Once again love this place and the best customer service ever. read more
