It's definitely not your typical pizza joint -- think elevated, intentional, and beautifully done from start to finish. The menu impressed me with how many vegan options they had (love to see it!). The charred broccolini was delicious, and I tried the Funghi Carnitas pizza with red sauce, vegan cheese, and pickled onions -- a combo I'd never had before, but it totally worked. Fantastic, but hidden little pizzeria. We had a great time dropping in for a later night dinner. Deserto Palo Verde has indoor seating that feels a little bit intimate and formal, but they have this amazing outdoor patio that is great for sunset dining. Maria was our server and she took great care of us. She made sure our waters, wines, and the kids Jarritos were never empty. We started with the burrata appetizer which was pretty good. If anything, they could use a tad bit more bread, but the dish itself was delicious...even the kids got into it. The burrata was great, and the roasted grape tomatoes were seasoned well. The Roni pizza was great, but Liz and I dipped into the Fresh Bastard which was a pepperoni pizza with fior di latte,, habanero pineapple puree...so a pepperoni with a kick. It didn't last long. All in all, the kids and the family had a great time, relaxing after a long day and chowin' down on some neapolitan style pizza. Definitely returning here. read more

Had a lovely dinner with friends at Deserto Palo Verde last night. We made a reservation and were seated right away. The inside is pretty small with roughly 6 tables and a bar that appeared to seat 4. They did however have a large patio area. The service was great and they have local craft beers and a limited wine menu. We ordered 2 meatball appetizers and 2 pizzas. The meatballs are served 5 each in a red sauce with crunchy bread bites on the side. They were incredible. I would honestly come back just for the meatballs and a salad. The pizzas are 12"/6 slices each. We ordered the carbonara and roni pizzas. They did not skimp on the toppings and both had a really great crust. Unfortunately they were out of the Tejas which seems to be the case each time we have visited the East side Deserto as well... bummer... some day I'll get to try this elusive Tejas pizza! The music choice was strange and our whole table agreed that it did not enhance the experience, it kind of detracted from it. However, overall a great experience. I'm really glad to have a wood fired pizza spot on the West side. read more

Not sure how they have a high rating. For a pizza place, they refuse to let you make any changes. If you make a request, they will say it will come out the same "since we make all pizzas the same way." Definitely never coming back. Good luck. read more

Delicious and creative menu the food was out relatively fast and most importantly tasted amazing im definitely coming back to try the rest of what they offer. It was my birthday so I was looking for a new experience. This place was delicious and the service was great. We ordered two pizzas and they were both top notch. The waitress was very attentive and the pizza chef was friendly and definitely knew what he was doing. We also had a cannoli which was made in house by the pizza chef..it was delicious. We waited 15 minutes just to be noticed by our rude server who continued to ignore me and cutting me off while ordering to talk to my husband and only asked how he was doing.
