I've eaten here multiple times with other people. Every time I've come the food has been good, but nothing spectacular. Last time I was here I got a burger and fries. The burger was very good, but the fries seemed like they had been rushed and were slightly undercooked. We sat in the bar area since there was a wait for the rest of the restaurant and it was extremely loud and there wasn't a band playing during this time. I know bar areas tend to be louder in general, but I couldn't even hear the person sitting next to me. The rest of the restaurant is normally not as loud though. Overall, the food/service is consistently good, but nothing to rave about. read more

Went to dinner last night with another couple of friends. Hadn't been here for quite some time and will not go back!! Three of the four meals we got were horrible: Meatloaf was cold with mashed potatoes that were left from the day before/Fish and chips--no doubt it was frozen breaded fish--McD's would have had better flavor/Kentucky Hot Brown was what our friend was looking forward to-Half the size of what it should have been, you think of it being hot and bubbly with the sauce, no, hardly any sauce and the crust of the bread you couldn't have even bite into!! The burger someone had was good and so were the sweet potato fries--and that's the only thing that was hot!!! Don't know how this place gets a crowd like they do--we will never return!!! read more

The food and service was wonderful. I felt some of the menu items were a bit on the pricy side but the service and atmosphere definitely made up for it. I had a hidden gem on the menu where you choose 3 side items and it comes with a ciabatta bread. I recommend the Gouda Mac and cheese as a side along with the garlic potatoes. Delish! read more

deSha's does everything right. The decor is tasteful and soothing--especially the seating looking out on the adjoining pond. Our server was perfectly friendly, professional and efficient. The tavern chips make a delicious if extremely decadent appetiser, especially the ones topped with blue cheese and bacon. Hubby's french onion soup was good, but be prepared for a different flavor from what you may be used to. I ordered my old standby of a buttermilk fried chicken breast, which comes with country gravy, mashed potatoes and a delicious vegetable medley. Hubby's hot brown was not the best he's ever had, but still well-prepared and tasty. From other visits to deSha's at lunchtime, I also highly recommend the shrimp and cheese grits. Check for two with one cocktail, one beverage and food items mentioned above was about $45. That includes tax but not the tip. read more

I am so sad. My husband and I used to love this place. I have only had some appetizers here and there for happy hours recently, and while not amazing, they were fine. We came for dinner tonight, and were very disappointed. The "Medium" steak was minuscule, tough, and way over cooked on the salad. The prime rib sandwich was so greasy it was noticeable on the bun, and it was pretty much left untouched by my dinner partner. Starter Cornbread was a nice touch, but we had no plates to place it on. Pretty view and beautiful place still, but lots of work on the menu execution to be done to engage diners under 55. read more

Had a great brunch here last Saturday. Plenty of spaced seating and was placed out front as you come into the restaurant. We had the fried chicken skillet which had sausage gravy and two eggs on top as well as potatoes mixed in. The taste was incredible and we also had the bread pudding which was excellent. I have lived in the area for 3 years and finally checked out this place. Really tough to see from the road, but the place was really classy looking upon entry. Reminds me of Parkers in Blue Ash. Was quickly seated on a Sunday night in an empty dining room. Patio was open and a beautiful night so we sat there. Nice spot. Once i got the menu, lots of selection and really all over the map. Typically when i see menus that include jambalya, fish and chips, fried chicken, fish sliders, meatloaf and whisky infused barbeque, i get concerned. Most places cant do everything well when they try to please everyone. This is definitely one of those places The good: Desha's burger is a sloppy but delicious knife and fork mess. Included are some mammoth steak fries that make this dish perfect with a 20 oz ice cold beer. Also good was our service. The bad: Fried chicken came out as two small boneless breasts of chicken with small portions of potaoes and green beans. The chicken was as crispy as frozen tyson in a box and dry as hell. This dish should not be on the menu. In fact this menu altogether needs a rescue from an experienced chef. Trying to make everyone happy only leaves people confused and disappointed. Additionally the bar area and patio area wood work was really destroyed. Really brings down the classy feel of this place. The bar also smelled of a drain problem. All in all i would come back, but this place could really use a clean up both with the menu and the envoronment. read more

My first time here. I had the Nashville hot wrap and it was excellent! The side house salad was very good and with a protein I could make a meal out of it. The little corn bread they bring is great with the honey butter. The hubby got fish and little potato's. I'm not a fish fan but it was really good and the tartar sauce was very good. I was very impressed with the establishment. The interior is amazing. They had a nice bar area and another separate room for dining, both rooms were massive. The pricing is fair for the food you get. A decent place for a nice meal, but nothing special. I came here with my boyfriend and his parents and we all had a nice time, but I wasn't blown away. Our waitress was very nice and the menu offers something for everyone. I decided on the buffalo chicken salad. They offer corn bread instead of rolls while you wait for your entrees, and it was delicious! When my salad came, there were only 5 pieces of chicken on it. Seems a little skimpy for a salad that's supposed to come with chicken. I really enjoyed the buffalo sauce that the chicken was tossed in, and the salad was tasty. I've been going to Desha's for over 25 years. Tonight was the greatest disappointment I've ever had when eating there. I had their holiday special "lobster mac and cheese." To put lobster in the title is a gross exaggeration. l told the waitress that there was almost no lobster in the dish ($23). She either didn't see fit to pass it on, or management didn't care. The evening was a great disappointment and will have to consider whether I will be returning. read more

My office had our company Christmas party here this week and we had an amazing time! We rented out the Polo Bar. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the room was perfect. No suprise here the food quality has been stuck in a rut for some time now.The entree selections are dated{ I ate in the tavern] A staple is always the burger or fish and chips the latter of which I ordered.It was like eating fishfingers at a chippy shop in England some place. They probably imported the used grease.I mean oil to fry with. I personally wont eat there again there are simply some better alternatives in the area. I have eaten at DeSha's many times over many years and never had a meal as bad as the one I had today. Our family decided to wait until the Sunday after Mother's Day to go to brunch so that it wouldn't be so crowded. I ordered the Belgian Waffle which came with apples, blueberries and strawberries. I asked if I could have only strawberries. The server said, of course. When the waffle came there was no fruit. She went to get it and came back with literally 1 1/2 strawberries sliced into smaller segments. I asked if this is all I get and she said there would be an up charge for a side of strawberries even though I hadn't gotten any of the other fruit. In addition to the fruit problem, the waffles were burned. The server apologized for that but did nothing to rectify the situation. I will never break my golden rule about brunch again, If a restaurant doesn't serve breakfast everyday, don't order it on Sunday. read more

Will not be going back here. Period. Waited for over an hour for our food and it took the waitress nearly 45 minutes to inform us that the Kitchen was "backed up" although very few tables had been seated. Not to mention, groups that were sat long after us had received their food and had checks before our food was brought out. Nothing that we ordered was complicated enough to warrant the wait, especially when two of us ordered salads. The wait took so long that we ended up having to get the food to-go with meetings to attend. I would have up-ticked this a star more if it weren't for the fact that my steak was over-cooked (medium to medium-well instead of medium-rare) and size and quality didn't fit the price point. Everyone at our table received something comped, except for myself since I didn't order a drink or a side salad -- simply, an entree. Would have been nice to receive even a small percentage off of the meal but in my eyes this was a total fail. If you're on a time-crunch, pick another place in the area. There are plenty. read more

This place is legit. On our way to the Brewers / Reds game we wanted to eat beforehand away from the city because the traffic was bad. We decided to go for this place despite the mediocre reviews. It wasn't warm enough but they have a cool gas fireplace with lounge style seating around it oustide. Inside they have a restaurant/dining section, a bar with only drinks and bar food, and the new "polo" bar that serves drinks and the full menu. We decided to sit there. The polo bar area was cool, it was in a little room with high tables and a small bar with TVs and sports decorations around the walls. The area was small, but didn't seem that way. The beer tap menu was impressive along with the bottle selection. I went with both local IPAs that I've never had before - almost a no brainer when you're from out of town. They were delicious. The happy hour allows you have to have a 16oz Yuengling for $3, which seems almost like theft. The craft beers were only $4. On the food menu everything looked good. A lot of different/unique American style dishes to choose from. My friend had some sort of beef sandwich on a pretzel roll. I had a chicken club style sandwich. Both were great. If I'm ever in Cincinnati again, I'll have this place on my list. For all you local Cincy people, check this place out. read more

We spent Thanksgiving dinner at DeShas this year. We are new to Cincinnati and had heard so many good things about DeShas. We arrived a little early, so we waited patiently for our reservation, as they we were very busy. We had a great table and our server (Gary) started out fairly well, but it went downhill quickly. After ordering drinks, we ordered the traditional turkey dinner. The first course (salad) arrived fairly timely. Not by choice, but we spent the next 2.5 hours slowly getting the rest of our food we ordered. It was like pulling teeth. Once the server left you were lucky if he came back to us in 30 minutes..usually to say your food should be ready soon. Once we received the main course, we barely had a teaspoon of gravy, a small portion of turkey and no green beans. When I questioned the server about the green beans he said they ran out and he forgot to tell us. I get it is Thanksgiving, and they are busy, but it was the worse service we have had in which we paid over $100 for. Don't recommend going here for Thanksgiving in the future. read more

The salad was not crisp and didn't like the dressing, my chicken was not crisp and was dry, the green beans had no flavoring, the fries were under cooked, the sodas were flat, but the French onion soup was great. The BF & I went here on a Saturday night because we had a LivingSocial coupon. The cornbread (with real corn!) was delicious. I ordered the fried chicken & he had the prime rib. I loved the chicken & mashed potatoes, but found the side of "seasonal vegetables" to be a bit odd. I expected something like broccoli or green beans and carrots. Instead I found a medley of zucchini, peppers, green beans, carrots, and the smallest floret of broccoli I've ever seen. Would have been much better with just two veggies. The BF liked the prime rib alright, but thought it was more like a steak & there was way too much fat on it. We split the brownie sundae & I almost wish we would have had 2 people there to share it with us. While delicious, it was huge. Much too large for one person, let alone two. Service was good & we could hear the band playing in the bar while still able to maintain a conversation. A little pricier than we usually go, but with a coupon, it was manageable. read more

My husband loves the prime rib, I like the steak salad or the salmon with marinated tomato topping. The food here never blows me away, but it's a pretty reliable spot to hit on a week night. You can choose to sit in the bar for a more casual atmosphere, but really the entire restaurant is pretty casual. I love sitting on the patio in nice weather and watching the ducks and fish. It's usually nice and shaded, and a great spot to drink a glass(es) of wine. read more

We went to de Sha's for the first time in a while and had a relatively disappointing experience. It seems they have changed the menu and reduced portions on things that were on the menu before. The BF loves going to deSha's, because they have prime rib...which is usually what he orders. Previously, there were two sizes of prime rib. The new menu only offers one size of prime rib (we always brought the extras to the dogs.) There was no more side of au jus, it was just drizzled on the plate instead. The mushrooms served with the prime rib consisted of three small mushrooms and one stem...unfortunately, three of the them hit the table as soon as the BF tried to cut the prime rib. Previously, I think it was served with garlic mashed potatoes...mashed potatoes tonight were not garlicky nor were they even very good...or warm. I ordered the salmon on rye sandwich. Previously, this sandwich was served on nice rye bread that was typically larger than the piece of salmon (usually a decent sized piece of salmon.) Tonight, the salmon was served on a rye bun, smaller than the piece of salmon (narrow piece sticking over the edge of the bun). The salmon previously had a mustard aioli (served on the side), but now has a little drizzle of basil mayonnaise (not really any noticeable flavor.) The BF ordered a caesar salad, but it was so overdressed and salty, it was inedible We returned it. We also ordered spinach artichoke dip, which was light on the artichokes and heavy on the salt. I guess in order to save money without raising prices, deSha's has cut the portions and the components of what they serve. It also looked like they were using smaller plates in order to make your meal look larger...unfortunately, it didn't work. It cost us about $50 for our meal (excluding tip and with the salad refunded). Sadly, we will most likely not be back to deSha's, which is a shame considering their proximity to our house. read more
