It's a holiday weekend and it was busy but the taste was not what we had recalled . We got the butter chicken and wanted some tandoori which they were out of . First off, the young lady who took my order was short with me and bordered on rude. I thought it might be a language barrier issue, so I let it go. Upon receiving my order, I was disappointed that the basmati rice was unseasoned, and the paneer was also cut extra large and had little flavoring inside the tiki masala. The food did not feel authentic at all. Additionally, I left my headphones on the table, and I called the them the following day and the person who answered the phone, their name sounded like Venkee, said they were not found and they hung up on me very quickly. I went by in person again the subsequent day and I was handed MY headphones, which had my initials on it, the serial number matched my Apple care coverage and they had been RENAMED "Venkys Headphones" and they had switched out the ear pieces!!! In less than two days... Their employee stole my headphones, and tried to keep them. The owner/manager needs to address this, and I would be happy to discuss and show them all the serial numbers and initials on the headphones to prove it too. Any good owner or manager would not want a staff member like this on their premises. read more

We still love this place and order from here regularly, but I will say, the food is wildly inconsistent and tastes different every time we order it so I had to remove 2 stars. When it's good, it's literally PERFECTION. But other times it's waaaay too salty or it's bland and too sweet. We order mild every time and sometimes it's just the right amount of spice, and other times it's so spicy, we can't even eat it. We've had to throw entire entrees away bc it was too salty or too spicy. So basically every time we order, it's either going to be the best Indian food ever or completely inedible. Part grocer / part dine in eatery with a wonderful selections of savory dishes to choose from. Be sure to check out the case, we saw some chicken curry puffs (have a little kick to them) and vege puffs and samosas... I wanted to try a bunch of dishes so I ordered butter chicken, aloo gobi, palak paneer, and Daal. Each dish comes with a container of rice. I forgot to take photo of my dishes, but yummy and mild in flavor which is what we requested. Be ready to wait for your order to be made. I want to say we waited at least 30 minutes if not more, and sat at a table in the dining area. Next time I will call in my order for pick up. I went back and forth on what to rate this place. The samosa, pakoras, and other street food type snacks are delicious and prefect with a cup of chai. Everything else - don't bother. Everything you get, regardless of what it is, tastes the same. It's like they have the same exact base for everything and just put different items in it as needed. I eat spicy food but the spice level here leaves your mouth so that you cant taste anything except the spice. I ordered a rasmalai and it was spoiled - it had a sour taste that was almost like vinegar. What's worse is when we told the people behind the counter, they acted like nothing happened, didn't apologize, or give our money back. I'm not one to go hassle them for a couple dollars. It was disgusting! With the food the way it is and how they handled the fact that they had given us spoiled food, I couldn't give it anything more than a 1 star. read more

I went to try chicken Mandi after hearing good reviews. We ordered 2 piece chicken Mandi. The quantity of rice was less and they spread it to make it feel it has lot of rice. The rice served looked like a street side fried rice. When we started to eat the rice was cold. Eggs are cold like the room it out of the freezer. The chicken gravy was good. We complained that the rice is cold and they replaced the rice. Next time the rice was hot but it was little salty. We didn't complain to them. The guy overheard the conversation and said today a new chef prepared the order. They gave us Chicken dum biryani for free as Mandi was not good. They informed us dum biryani will be good and tastes similar to Hyderabad Dum biryani. We came back home and tried the free biryani. The rice taste was ok not that great as they told us. Decided to explore this place and got a Paneer Achari Kathi Roll and a Chicken Tikka Kathi Roll both Medium Spicy to go. The person at the counter informed us that he will call our name once the order was ready. Looks like he forgot to call us or the kitchen forgot to inform him. We checked and got our order which was now warm and not hot. So by the time we got home and got to eat it, it was at room temperature. As far as the food is concerned, the food had good flavors and cooked well. The food was packed and presented very well. The only thing that I missed in the rolls was the onions. The kitchen looks clean so does the dining area. The store attached to the eatery is small and has some essential Indian grocery items but not much. read more

This was our first time trying out this place. Giving a one star as I can't give a zero. We ordered the samosa chaat and aaloo tikki chaat. Both were unbelievably spicy! I am used to spicy food but this gave me hiccups within seconds. I gulped down the samosa since I was hungry and left aside the chaat gravy as it was too hot for me. We also got the paneer kathi roll. But what we received was beyond our wildest imagination of bad food. It was frozen damp maida roll with probably three long pieces of fried paneer stuffed inside; all of which was stale and cold to the taste. They didn't even bother warming it up properly! On the side was a serving of cold rajma-chole tossed in some spice; all of which we tossed straight into the trash bin at the back. Needless to say we lost our appetites and won't be coming back here. If you are close by, head to the nearby indian Honest restaurant, though their food is forgettable, at least it is fresh, reasonably spiced. read more

Visited Desi District post Christmas with some family members visiting from out of town. The subpar Yelp reviews already had me leery about this place, but our guests really wanted to try it since they don't have this in Austin. Ordered a bunch of things...they were just dismal at the best. The samosa chat was just full of chickpeas curry which was a day old and way too spicy for most of us. The achari chicken kathi roll was the worst of the lot - flavorless, previously frozen paratha that was just microwaved stuffed with a few dry pieces of chicken. Zero flavor, no onions, no chutney. A complete fail. Tandoori momos we're not available (we were there right at lunch, how's that even possible?). The Manchurian momos were again just salty and dry inside. The dosa was OK (hard to screw that up). Unfortunately a couple of us didn't do so well after the meal...probably due to the stale/ultra spicy food. Ambience is no different than any other fast casual restaurant and service is rather slow, even though there were only 2 other tables occupied. Overall we won't be back...this place was awful. This continues the trend of overpriced, overhyped and underwhelming Indian restaurants in Frisco. The problem is most of these are run by people who have no interest in good food or service but are just here to make a buck and take advantage of the south Asian crowd who only want to eat Indian food. If you want good Indian food, skip Plano, Frisco etc. and head to Irving. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I don't think the employees like "outsiders" in their market/restaurant. This was the second time I went in and it's the last. The only reason I returned was because the food was decent, it's near my home, and the restaurant was clean. I gave the benefit of the doubt thinking perhaps there is a cultural barrier that I didn't get the first time. The second experience was worse than the first and I won't spend my hard earned money just to feel unwelcome and ignored. Legit ignored!!! If I were a passive or socially anxious person, this experience would have been terrifying for folks. I ordered food from the prepared/cooked food in the buffet at the front counter by the desserts. I added rice, which I saw cooked and put into the heating container behind the counter. Nothing special or difficult. I had just bought groceries, so I didn't want to wait since my groceries were in the car. The woman took my order and told the man. I paid, then it goes down from there. The gentleman walked into the back, the woman who took my order was on her phone and another young lady walks in to ask if they had a certain food. She said no, she asked if they had another food, she says yes but it will be a long wait. All with attitude, which clearly made the girl uncomfortable, so she left. The lady continued her business on the phone and went to do something else (never saw her again). The man came back served my food in to-go containers, places them on the counter against the kitchen and then walks into the back again. I waited patiently for 15min while staring at my food on the back counter. Thought to myself, I could walk back there and bag it, place it on the front counter by the register, walk back around the counter and hand it to myself, all in the time it took for him to come back. The Grocer taking inventory looked at me and smiled twice. I smiled back. The Butcher who saw me waiting, smiled at me and loaded meat while I waited. He finally asked me why I was waiting. I said, "That's my food right there in those containers, I'm just waiting for it to be handed to me." He went into the back and I can hear him say something to the guy in the back. Still, this man took his time. Finally returned. Looks at me. Answered his phone. Fiddle with a machine. Hangs up. Looks at me. Begins doing something else, which at this point appears to be anything but give me my food. Meanwhile, there is a group of men sitting in the restaurant area, clearly staring at me, because I made eye contact several times, and all probably wondering and taking bets on how long I'm willing to wait. Fed up at this point, I ask the man to hand me my food. He speaks to me in his language, which I don't understand. I'm still polite, "Can you hand me my food that's right there, please?" This happens twice. Then, he finally says "To-go?" I look at him and tell him that he knows my food is to-go and to hand it to me, please. He didn't give me a spoon or napkins, which were on the counter next to the plastic bags. Look at the picture of my food, definitely not worth the fuss. When I say "outsiders," both myself and the young lady who walked in were not of the same ethnic background and I'm assuming this is the reason as I've felt this before in other racist environments. read more

I don't often give reviews, although I am indeed an Indian food connoisseur, yet not really a Biryani expert( as there are tons of Indian restaurants with different varieties around.... BUT.... The Hyderabadi Mutton Curry was amazing! so flavorful albeit I ordered mild and it still came killer spicy... no complains it was THAT goood! I have to say I only like mutton biryani but their Mutton-Dum Biryani (Chef's Special) just might be the best biryani I have had..and I have travelled and tried many. Rich and filled with mutton for every bite. I ordered the steamed Idli and a plain dosa... a bit meh... possibly due to the uber trip. Wish it came with more curries however.... the other 2 orders smashes any disappointment. I uber eats quite a bit, and normally never bother to look up past orders, but this time I had to because... Modern and maintained well inside. Has a mini grocery store attached to it. Lots of options on their menu. Ordered the paneer tikka burger, dahi puri chat, butter chicken, and gobi manchuria. All the dishes were very tasty and flavorful. The prices were a bit expensive though for the portion sizes, especially the dahi puri chat. The paneer in the burger was very hard and may have been deep fried too long, but the masala was great and the burger buns weren't soggy. Loved the butter chicken and gobi manchuria as well! I'm so happy to have a good Indian place so close to home! We haven't visited the store yet but have gotten delivery many times. My favorite is the butter paneer. It tasted super fresh and creamy. The samosas are great. They are huge and flavorful, but I wish they came with a mint chutney instead of tamarind. The curry puff was a little light on the filling, but tasted pretty good.
