This company stinks! We called in advance to make a booking to be picked up as we were going out for a celebration and needed a driver. After 3 hours of continuous phone calls and being told someone was on the way, they turned around and said to call another cab compnay because they weren't coming to pick us up. This left us stranded in the early hours of the morning. If I had been on my own I would have been very frightened. They are UNRELIABLE and I would not recommend ever using them. Great Taxi for Airport $50 flat. Most people say that this taxi service is hit or miss, but lucky for me, it was a MAJOR HIT. Would have given 5-star but I was worried people wouldn't trust it given its current low rating, so I reduced it to 4-star. I'll update rating, if I use them again. Never again. Not reliable. Surly. Attitude. I called before my work-out and booked a pick-up, 90 minutes ahead of time, at 6:00 at the new 24-hour Fitness on N. Main in Walnut Creek. Was told that a cab would be waiting. Finished my workout, called and ordered a pizza to be picked up. 6:00 arrives, no cab. 6:05, no cab. I call back. Am told it will be 10 minutes. No apology. Just "10 minutes." "So, 15 minutes late," I say. "Ten minutes." "Never mind," I say. He hangs up, on me, after standing me up. So I walk, soaking wet and in gym shorts, back to the Pleasant Hill BART/transit center, a 12-minute walk from the gym. Which cab is first in line? A 777-7777 cab. !!DO NOT USE!! I have made multiple appointments days or even weeks ahead of time and on the day of they just simply dont show up. When I call them to see whats going on they tell me that im not even in the system! Meanwhile my flight is about to leave. I've missed flights because of their poor management. I frequently saw DeSoto cabs around my neighborhood so I decided to give them a try. I have used them 5-6 times now and they are quick to arrive and always prompt if i request a specific pickup time. All the drivers are friendly, but Jay is the best! read more

DeSoto Cab saved us!! We had originally called another cab company just because their name (and color of their vehicles) is recognizable, but the driver was rude, yelled at us before we even got in, then, when I of course refused to get in, he gave me the finger and called me an effing something. So we called DeSoto instead. Thank goodness for driver Matt who was quick to arrive, courteous, and honest. He quickly got us home, and even reduced the fare a bit because he'd taken a wrong turn. Driver was on time but once we got in he started yelling and was on his cell phone while driving and on with his manager and yelling that we didn't know it was a $20 min cost. We were only going 4 miles. And no, no one told us that when we called. The guy yelled and complained the whole drive and got us a little scared. Do Not use this service. The driver handed me his cell phone to talk to the extremely rude "manager" on the phone and he tells us that its $20 min per ride, even though we told them in our initial call that we were going 4 miles-all in Danville. The taxi driver was terrible, and he was cussing and threatening me and my 2 girlfriends. To My friend he said he was going to stop longer than usual at the stop sign, so she could jump out... First of all, that is illegal to have someone jump out of your moving vehicle and the fact that it was even threatened was extremely unprofessional. He threw his permit at me so I could take a picture of it, and report him. I will never use this taxi service again, Uber has never pulled that kind of BS. In the kind of business where you are supposed to give people a SAFE ride home, that should be your first priority. Not insulting young women. read more

Cab was late, couldn't find us even though we gave the specific downtown business we were in front of while we stood out in the cold weather. It was cold inside cab and driver didn't turn heat up even when my wife made a "burrrr" sound. Not particularly friendly driver. The cab service that I normally used went out of business and the only available one was DeSoto. The first time I used them I was not impressed as they charged by the meter, my last cab company did flat rate if you were to travel within in San Ramon. This morning I called 45 minutes before I needed to be picked up, the dispatch asked what time I'd like driver to arrive, I said 8:15. 9 minutes before driver was to arrive I get a call from the dispatch informing me that they can not pick me up at designated time and that it would be more like 8:30-8-:40. I informed the person that was unacceptable as I had to be at work at 8:30.(it's only 10 min cab ride) she told me to find another way to work. I asked why did you tell me that someone would be here at 8:15? She told me that there are other contracted customers that come before me and she can't help that! Ummm really?? Called yesterday morning an hour and a half ahead of time needing a cab to drop me off at the court house.fast forward 1:45 later,NO CAB! I give them a call and say I needed the cab 15 mins ago. Horrible Cab Service!! NEVER use DeSoto Cab Pleasanton Taxi service. I booked them to pick my husband from San Ramon to Oakland airport @3:30am on 12/10/2011. On freezing cold morning their heater was not working. I called DeSoto Cab Pleasanton and told them. The manager said they are not responsible for the heater not working. This has been the only company I could find that can schedule a ride ( to and from work ...so very important ) in advance , and are always so prompt, reliable and on top of their scheduling. Unfortunately my child's school uses De Soto Cab Co. as transportation for their special needs students. There are so many things wrong with De Soto from the calling center, to the drivers. My daughter who is partially paralyzed on the left side of her body, has to rush to the van everyday after school because the driver has driven off without her several times. Another thing I find extremely tacky is that the driver reaches over the children from the front seat to open the door, instead of getting out walking around and opening the door!I've called De Soto everyday asking why my daughter is not picked up in the morning when we've sent in the request form several weeks ago, every time they say one of these 3 things... 1. "I will make a note and put it on my managers desk" 2. "We have her on the route schedule and will be coming to pick her up TOMORROW" 3. "We will give you a call around 10:30am and give you the exact time she will be picked up". The problem is "tomorrow" comes and she is never picked up, causing her to be late once again. The problem is they NEVER call back. The problem is they claim to be a "professional, courteous, and reliable" this is a STRETCH. This morning to avoid my daughter being late to school I called to make sure they were picking her up today the operator asks for my daughters name and says please hold, this ended up being a 19min phone call on hold operator never returned to phone call and I was hung up on. I called again got the holding prompt and "click" hung up on, called again same thing. Used a different phone and somehow was able to get through so now I'm put on "hold" once again luckily with a much nicer woman but whom also once again is "taking a note, leaving a message for the manager" which doesn't seem to get me anywhere. read more

This company arrived 25 minutes late to pick me up which made me miss the annual volunteer appreciation train at the Niles Canyon Railway. When I expressed my frustration over this, the driver escalated things by yelling at me and calling me names. He switched the $20 I gave him for a $5 (cheating me out of $15) and after I slammed the door while getting out, he chased after me and threatened to fight me after trying to knock my hat off. Later, when I called the company, they lied to me about when I had initially called and hung up on me. If I can find a witness, I will file charges for battery. read more

To be honest I've never felt more comfortable calling a cab service than I do using De Soto. I share a car with my boyfriend and work as a bartender in Livermore, generally getting off work pretty late, so obviously needing a way home after work. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a ride, drivers are friendly and always get me home safe! Love them! read more

Oh my effing lord. Of course of course even though I have told my friends to NOT use this service I got stuck having to deal with them again. I was going to a dinner for a friends recent promotion and since I don't drive her nice gesture was to send a cab. :( ok i live in an apartment complex I get it. Cab driver calls my friend and she gives instructions to where I am. Cab driver calls friend again saying I am not home. Friend calls me I say ugh even though its freezing I'll walk outside and wait. Long story short after repeated phone calls back and forth we find out the Cab is at the wrong apartment complex. Is it my fault the cab driver can't read signs? Of course it is! I said screw it and called my friend and told her I would just call my usual cab driver who THANKFULLY works for a different company. I also found out that Desoto cab was banned from picking up people in Plesanton because of multiple offense and complaints. The city revoked their permit. So my friends nice gesture because she wanted me to join the celebration was ruined. And of course Desoto did their usual bitch out the customer and tell them they would be put on a black list. I can't tell you enough that they must have a ton of people on their "blacklist" because of their own crappy service. I love how the owner or whoever is getting on here and threatening to sue people over reviews. Wake up call your cabs service sucks! read more
