It has been forever since I last reviewed this spot. It is still a small family restaurant, so if…read moreyou bring in a larger group, reservations are encouraged and a bit of patience, since there isn't a whole lot of staff. The food is absolutely delicious. I personally love their pork dishes and the beef empanada for an appetizer. The moro rice as well as the yellow rice are both so tasty. I prefer the sweet plantains over the tostones, but that's just my preference. And don't forget to indulge in a dessert or maybe a Cuban coffee after your meal. I tend to bring my foodie group here regularly and while they are a picky bunch, I have not heard any complaints about the food here. The prices are still very reasonable and the service friendly.

Edit: ALSO how absurd is it that they tried giving us our Yucca WITHOUT mojo. If youre cuban you…read moreknow you do not eat boiled Yucca without mojo (unless you just dont like it which is crazy) and when we asked if it came with it she said "well i mean.. i can add it on the side for yall" like as if its not the usual/it was an inconvenience. The food was edible. The people serving and making the food are not Cuban and have a really hostile attitude. We were immediately seated and our food came out rather quick (15-20) minutes after placing the order. The lady the entire time was almost rushing us and trying to get us to order more than what we wanted. The food was hot but did not have a fresh/authentic taste coming from a Cuban.. At the end of it we were overall satisfied with our food and were paying when the lady took the paying machine from my husband insisting he tipped %15. He was tipping a custom amount to make the amount even but she said it was usual for people to leave %15. He asked if it was obligation to select the %15 option or if he could put the custom amount he wanted and she said he could put whatever but people usually put %15.. My husband then paid no mind to it because she was just confused probably thinking he was going to pay less than %15 percent. She then grabbed the machine and his card and said "No. Don't. It doesn't matter," had him pay, and stormed back into the kitchen saying "Next time i will put it in there myself." There wont be a next time, at least not from us. I was very disappointed with the service at this restaurant.

I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed VIvencia yet, but I looked and sure enough, I've been slacking!…read more After many trips, here is a quick summary of my most recent visit and some observations. TLDR: Love it. Visited today for breakfast with a friend, and it wasn't busy when I arrived, but was surprised at how many people arrived as we ate. It was a workday, and I thought there might be some breakfast meetings taking place, but the crowd trickled in a bit later as the morning lingered. Coffee options abound. As do smoothies and 'wellness shots' which aren't my thing but if you'd like a shot of healthy greens and a spice I've never heard of, enjoy! I had black coffee and it tasted better than most breakfast shots. They have a wide variety of lattes and other fancy custom options like the strawberry shortcake latte, etc. Ordered the breakfast burrito (sausage) and it was very good. I think I had the hangover burrito before (same thing but with gravy on top) and would opt for that one again next time. I had the strawberry banana pancakes at a prior visit as well, and remember them fondly. My dining companion had biscuits and gravy and said they were good. He is a man of few words. For dinner, they have a great menu that is 'latin flavors' as they say - everything from traditional Mexican food you'd find elsewhere to Argentinian options and more. They have great food. On a nice day, the patio is great other than the street traffic noise. This is a great option if you're wanting to get away from the other Mexican restaurants in town but still want something along those lines.

I live a little over an hour away from Wepa Cafe and honestly I would drive here every day if I could. Walking in, I am immediately transported to a typical restaurant back on the island. The decor, the music playing, and the delicious smell transport me back to the island as you walk in. Jorge and his crew are top tier people! Everyone is friendly, attentive, and you can tell that they are putting so much love into the food. Let's talk food, I am critical of PR food outside of the island, but there is nothing to be critical of at Wepa. Everything is fresh and made to order. The flavors are exactly as they are back home and it is all absolutely delicious. My family and I ordered so much off the menu and we were impressed by it. We ordered Alcapurrias, rellenos de Papa, Sorullos de Maiz, and Bacalaitos to start. We also got jugos de parcha and let me tell you, that juice is FRESH!! As for our entrees, everyone got mofongos which are to die for!!! As well as rice and beans with shrimp, tilapia and bistec. Everything was delicious. I can't emphasize enough how good the food is. Lastly we shared a flan and a tembleque de coco. That tembleque is the best tembleque I have had in my life. As for the flan, it transported my 93 yr old grandma back to her childhood letting us know that the flan tasted exactly as the one her grandmother used to make. That in itself should let you know how good the food is. I honestly wished I lived closer but I am willing to make the drive to visit a piece of home. Gracias Wepa Cafe por traer la isla a Indiana!!

The sandwiches, dishes, apps, drinks, and desserts are all incredibly top notch. I'm surprised with the consistency for a small spot, blown away by the balance of curious tasty flavors, and hope there's a franchise in the works. Wepa is friendly, easy going, has outdoor tables, plenty of space, and does everything possible for an American territory cuisine. Yes, you do not need a passport visiting Perto Rico! I need to go.
