Box from the outside (magnetic clasp to keep it shut)

We're lucky enough to have a fine chocolatier here in Los Gatos, which is great. These are very creative, finely crafted chocolates with a wide variety of cool combinations. We just had a Passionfruit Tequila (from their standard collection) and "Orange + Kukuto Black Sugar" (from their Valentine's Day seasonal menu) and both were great, though I loved the Kukuto sugar one the best. We've purchased these before and always enjoyed them. Very considerate and great service to have the little cards that let you know what's in the box. The store is cute and well decorated with a variety of not only these small chocolates, but also bars and other things you can buy. We enjoy supporting local businesses and can't think of a better way to do that than buying uniquely flavored, beautiful dark chocolates.

Beautiful box of 16 handmade bonbons

Had been coming to Deux Cranes for years. It's our go-to chocolatier for special occasions. I loved both their dark chocolates gift boxes and chocolate bars. I received a box of 16 handmade bonbons, with 2 of each of the 8 different wonderful flavors, for Valentine's Day. It's such a beautiful box with different geometric shapes and colors. Even their bag and tissue paper were so pretty. I loved that the box came with an illustrated key so that I could find out which flavors were included. 4 of them were from their Valentine's Day Collection. They're all pretty bold and unique flavor combinations: . Orange Kokuto Bonbon - Bright orange jelly paired with rich Okinawa black sugar ganache for a complex, caramelized depth . Raspberry Lime Bonbon - A vibrant burst of tangy raspberry balanced with zesty lime . Passionfruit Coconut Bonbon - Tropical passionfruit jelly layered with silky coconut cream ganache and coconut shortbread cookie butter . Madagascar Vanilla Bonbon - Pure dark chocolate Madagascar single-origin couverture with delicate Madagascar vanilla The other 4 from their permanent collection were also very special: . Passionfruit Tequila . Dark Chocolate Vanilla . Miso Almond Praline . Saké They're all very smooth, rich, and delicious with delicately layered flavors. I loved them all! If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the Orange Kokuto Black Sugar.

This chocolate boutique is easy to miss, but it offers a unique selection of nicely curated chocolate. I came in here to buy a gift, which was a beautiful box of bon bons. I think the recipient will be happy. Prices are steep. Chocolate, while great, was not as exceptional as I had hoped for. I would come back still, but I would like to try some of the dark or matcha chocolate instead. Service was friendly. The vegan shortbread was more like a ginger snap than actual shortbread and a little too sweet for my taste.

Wow this little gem is pure gold! You can tell by the display, logo and the Lady this place is pure heart and joy, which I completely felt! I was looking for a box of chocolate to gift at and this was so beautiful. Their flavors are original, not overly sweet at all, very simple ingredients and the Lady who was at the shop was so perfect! Like the chocolate fairy from outer space. We got the 16pc box as well as the Passionfruit Bar (passionfruit is sooo flavorful, with the tart fruit flavor hitting you quickly and ending with luxuriously smooth chocolate at the end) and the Milk chocolate with ginger, sesame and buckwheat bar to try and we loved them all. I'm buying 10 more passionfruit bars when I'm in the area again!!!! The shop is really tucked away and may miss if you're not paying attention. It's right next to the nail place (in a smaller narrow opening) felt so Japanese I loved it! Now only if they have ice cream ahhhhh I would never leave this place. (3 weeks later) Today went to get more passionfruit and they were sold out...Ahhhhh I died. Nothing compares to that tart lightly sweet bar! WARNING: they maybe sold out! Call before you come.

What a cute little chocolate shop! I've been wanting to check this place out because I've developed a huge chocolate tooth in the last few years and have been purveying around the bay area looking for delicious chocolates. They have fun, unique flavors in the form of bon bons, bars, caramels, etc. They have a loyalty program and you bet your bottom dollar I signed up! I would've bought every flavor but the cost does add up, so I'll savor each bite until I'm back again.

TLDR: Marathon superfood! C'est du très bon chocolat! これチョコレートが大好きです! True and funny story, the first place I tried this chocolate was in Montana where I spotted a unique flavor bar, white chocolate pistachio rose in a case of 100s of different chocolates from around the world. Once my best friend and I started nibbling, looked closer at the box and found it was Los Gatos... Small world! More than two years later, I made it a point to stop in on my long run which was going to be no more than 13 to 17 miles. I was greeted by Michiko who was the KINDEST! Got six different flavors and they were all fantastic! Especially both the yellow colored ones. I'm telling you there's something special about this chocolate because that long run turned into my very first marathon! Might make this my new routine hehehe Support this local business for its amazing quality and top-tier hospitality! And share with friends and family while you are at it!

I'm a big chocolate fan and have tried some of the best in Europe, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but Deux Cranes totally delivered. I got a holiday box, and the seasonal pieces were both beautiful and delicious. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the flavors, they were creative but not over the top, and everything worked so well together. The chocolate itself was so smooth and rich, clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The seasonal touches made it feel extra special and festive, which I loved. Will definitely be back for more!

Where does one get a bon bon? Here! Deux cranes has phenomenal bon bons... that thin even chocolate shell with a perfect crisp snap... biting into a luxuriously smooth center with Asian flavored ganache and other fillings!!! I'm in love. Hubby has ordered from their shop several times. I've tried many of their chocolate bars, cookies, seasonal boxes but by far the bon bon is where they shine. Will definitely purchase these as gifts for friends and for special occasions :)

I'm not usually a huge chocolate fan but if I had to eat chocolate it would be these. Their chocolates are the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. I also got to meet the owner. She was so kind in sharing her stories of how Deux Cranes was founded.

    Glenda D.

Charming chocolate store filled with beautiful artisanal chocolate. Had the privilege of meeting the founder and chocolatier Michiko. It was wonderful to hear her passion and journey into becoming what Deux Cranes is today. Michikos cultural background inspired her beautiful chocolate creations with Japanese flavors of sesame, yuzu, matcha and many more. The packaged chocolate is also so pretty to look at and would be a wonderful gift to give. I tried the matcha bonbons which were amazing! I also loved the chocolate sables, the matcha chocolate bars, and the dark chocolate with coffee and cream. Service is wonderful and kind. One thing to note for those who have nut or sesame food allergens : to read the packaging to make sure you are able to enjoy a chocolate without these ingredients. I did see some that were nut and sesame free!

I wonder how I never knew about this place which was so close to my home. Went for a chocolate making event and the lady was just the nicest person and explained everything so patiently about chocolate making process. She explained the difference between everyday store bought chocolate and high quality ones. The chocolates were just amazing and tasted really good. I had passion fruit and matcha chocolates. For chocolate making process, dipped chocolate cookies(divine), marshmallows and mango. Loved how clean and organized everything was and loved their display of chocolates. Everything was so passionate about chocolates at the store. Will definitely go back to gift some to friends

The Matcha and Spiced Dark Chocolates were to die for!! I loved how enthusiastic everyone at the shop was, and how passionate they were about the chocolates. Definitely recommend if you want a fusion (Japanese + French) chocolates or just great quality regular ones!!

3/22/2024 LIMITED EDITION: SAKURA ALMOND EGG Dark chocolate flavor at the top, then the buttery almond shortbread layer comes next, then the cherry jelly and sakura ganache. The sakura flavors aren't big as you continue eating, but you get the flavors in the beginning. It's definitely enjoyable! LIMITED EDITION: SAKURA MATCHA CHOCOLATE BAR You can taste the full, earthy matcha right upfront! Beautiful matcha flavor! However, the sakura takes a backseat. I can taste little of it with that berry tang, but matcha is the star. Like the Nestle's Crunch Bar, you also get rice krispies between each bite, which was good. LIMITED EDITION: SPRING BENTO BOX 2024 - Blue Sky Sakura Bar-Sakura/Cherry Jam, Matcha Cream, Almond Shortbread Butter (almonds, gluten, milk) - Night Sky Sakura Bar-Sakura/Cherry Jam, Sakura Saké Cream, GF Rice/Almond Shortbread Butter (alcohol, almonds, milk.) - Sakura Rice Crispy (sesame seeds, butter) - Cherry Pâte de Fruit  - Sakura Saké Bonbon (alcohol, milk) - Matcha Cream Bonbon (milk) - Hōjicha Cream Bonbon (milk) - Sakura Cream Bonbon (milk) My favorites from this bento box: The Bonbons! Sakura Saké Bonbon - Fruity sakura flavor, then the saké comes through. Well done and wish this would stay on the menu. Matcha Cream Bonbon - Beautiful chocolate crunch of outer chocolate. Matcha was a very good quality matcha which was rich in flavor, fruity and sweet. Then the milky flavor hit the end, which brought the whole thing together. Delicious! Hōjicha Cream Bonbon - Strong hōjicha flavor coming through! Then that creaminess at the end. Lovely! Sakura Cream Bonbon - Lightly floral, yet the outer chocolate shell tastes slightly caramelly which adds another flavor at the end. Compared to the Sakura Saké Bonbon it's not the best, but that outer shell chocolate was superb! Blue Sky Sakura Bar - Earthy flavor as the first note, then a light almond flavor, then a fruity cherry flavor at the end. Good crispy crunch from the outer chocolate shell. Overall indistinguishable flavors in one bar. Beautiful bar inside and out. Night Sky Sakura Bar - The sakura fruity tang comes first, then the almond paste and shortbread, and lastly the sake. It has this light, floral, creaminess which was very pleasant. The base flavor is similar to the Sakura Saké Bonbon. Again, beautiful bar and crunch from the outer chocolate shell. The cherry patés were my least favorite, which was too sweet and tart. Yes, it tasted like cherry, which was good, but the overwhelming sweetness killed the cherry flavor overall. HAZELNUT CARAMELS Light, buttery caramel with chopped hazelnut pieces. DARK CHOCOLATE CARAMELS You can taste dark chocolate as soon as you bite into it, then get a slightly savory caramel, like there's miso in it. SALTED CARAMELS Very buttery, soft with the best deep caramel flavor. Did not taste salt as a top note, but out of all the caramels I've had at Deux Cranes, this one was the best! Melted the salted caramels and miso pepper caramels together on a kouign-amann in the toaster oven for a more deep caramelized flavor. It was such a good decision because the it was the best warm, gooey, melty, caramelized, crispy kouign-amann I've ever had! So good! A must-try!

Can we pick the chocolates we want or is it assorted?

In the boxes of bon bons, it's randomly assorted. They pulled out a couple for me to look at as they're all different, and I picked the one I wanted most, considering the flavors I was hoping for!

We had to see if they had any, and luckily there was exactly one left! We bought it to have for breakfast the next morning. I'll admit, I was a little nervous because it was packaged in a bag and I wasn't sure how well it would hold up overnight. But the next morning, we basically fought over who was going to get the biggest piece. It was still flaky and delicious, and there was chocolate in every bite. The chocolate was in strips through the middle rather than spread throughout the entire pastry, but there was still enough that we never had a bite without chocolate. It ended up being such a sweet way to start our last day in town. They had so many other pastries and desserts that looked absolutely amazing, but we had just eaten lunch and knew we were heading back out for the day, so we didn't want to risk buying something that might melt in the car. If you're in Los Gatos and love chocolate croissants as much as we do, definitely stop in! And if there's only one left...don't hesitate. Grab it!
