The young lady who initially helped us was very kind, and we ended up spending about $25. My kids decided they wanted to sit and eat inside, so I grabbed two small sheets of wax paper to use as makeshift plates so they wouldn't make crumbs or leave a mess on the tables. As I was taking the two sheets, an older woman working there aggressively confronted me and nearly smacked my hand away. Her reaction made it seem like I was reaching over the register and stealing money rather than taking two pieces of inexpensive wax paper for food we had just purchased. There were other customers inside, which made the whole interaction even more embarrassing and unnecessary. I had just spent $25 at the shop and was simply trying to keep the table clean while my kids ate. If taking the wax paper was an issue, she could have politely said something instead of reacting so aggressively. I'm local to La Crescenta and would have happily returned, but treating a paying customer this way over two pieces of wax paper left a terrible impression. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back.

What I liked is the filling of the Beef was minced ground beef with sauteed onion bits mixed into a blend and seasoned with a bit of spice but overall was very moist and juicy and the fried dough was very good. So, I'd recommend that. Oddly, I tried the Beef and Potato reluctantly thinking the pure beef option was going to be better... and the Potato was soft and perfect so I'm thinking they're equally good depending on your mood. I tried the beef empanada, and it was very good, similar flavor of the beef empanada to the piroshki but not exactly the same, otherwise I might say the empanada is bigger and gives more protein of the ground beef. The desert shaped like a peach fruit was very good. It reminded me of Asian style deserts where they're not overly sweet and has a healthy refreshing taste more so than being too overwhelming with thick sugary creams. I found out they have multiple locations. It feels maybe the Armenian and Russian community in So Cal are more toward this area and The Valley, so I do have to take what could be a 60-90 minute journey to come here, and even longer of a commute to their other locations. I think they'd do well in the SBBC (South Bay Beach Cities) down South past Santa Monica but before Long Beach and Orange County. I'd recommend this place for the food and service.

I visited this boba and dessert place expecting a sweet treat, but all I got was a bitter experience. The boba tasted like it had been sitting out for hours, and the desserts were stale. The customer service was very bad; the staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves and going into the back room more than serving customers. It took ages to get anyone's attention, and when I finally did, they were rude and dismissive. Save your money and your taste buds - steer clear of this disappointing place. read more

Now, on to the reason for the lines. In my humble opinion, the churros at Churro Factory are some of the best churros in town. They're perfectly crispy and chewy. The cinnamon & sugar mix is just right. It complements without overpowering. It's just a perfect sweet treat to help pep you up as you come to the back corner of the zoo. You can also add them to a sundae or get popcorn or other traditional park treats, but it's the churro that really shines here (hence it being in the name). You're really doing a disservice by not trying these things once. I will say, however, that the prices are kinda crazy. It's about $6.50 for a churro. Honestly, a churro should never cost more than a buck or two in my opinion. But, you're a captive audience in the zoo so of course you're going to pay a premium. With that said, I love these churros so much that I will still make them a treat. Sometimes it's just worth it.
