I had a spoon that had a dried food on it and they apologized and took it away. Our waitress Carla was kind and attentive. For drinks, we had the watermelon margarita and tropical breeze both wonderfully made and blended very well. We split the spicy gumbo and the seafood mixed grill. It was more than enough for two people as we left very satisfied. The parking is ample and the restrooms were very clean. I gave it a four because of the spoon. For drinks, I went with the pineapple martini while my wife enjoyed the Tropical Breeze. Everything was excellent. I was visiting Chicago and discovered this restaurant that had closed it's Chicago location was still open in Oakbrook. I was very excited to find this out as I had enjoyed my experiences in past so I went to the Oakbrook location for dinner. This location, if I recall correctly, didn't have the same ambiance as the closed Chicago location but it was nice. Our waitress was dull, very stoic and not very engaging. she did her job and that was it so the service was adequate. The food was still very good as I remembered. Reservations for dinner (5 ppl) on Wednesday 7pm. Caitlyn served us and provided the right amount of time coming to our table to check in on us. When I made the online reservation, they noted that they target 1 hr 45 minutes to 2 hours for dine in experience, and they hit that spot on for us. We enjoyed all the appetizers - shrimp Durango, lobster rolls, and bang bang shrimp. 2 of the entrees were a no - the Alaskan halibut in their specials menu was so dry and the maple salmon stuck to the wood it was plated on and somewhat tasted like that wood. Devon is one of my go-to steak and seafood places. Since it was the end of National Steak Month and I had a 20% off coupon, I thought I would head in with a friend for her birthday . We started with the calamari. We both order it wherever we go. The flavor was really great with the peppers, and the pepper aioli was a great enhancement. We also had surf and turf. The steaks were flavorful and prepared perfectly. The crabcake is always a hit. The scallops, although perfectly prepared and flavorful, were very small. In the past, they have been more robust. The servers were fairly attentive but could have stopped by a bit more for refills. We topped off the night with delicious creme brulee and berries with cream. We've been to Devon a few times now and it keeps getting better! Everything costs a lot these days so get over it. The food here is awesome! Some of the best steaks (filet) for sure. The seafood is wonderful as well. Oysters are fresh and delicious. Staff is awesome. Ask for Charles. He's a really great kid and if you're gonna pay top dollar for the food you're gonna want the service to be great. And he's great! He's been our server twice and he's a great asset to the restaurant as well as a genuinely good guy. We haven't had a bad meal. So it's all good. Have the carrot cake for dessert. I came to visit with family for my sister's birthday. We were a sizable party of 7. I have mixed feelings about Devon. Pros: The best part about Devon was the appetizers. Their lobster bisque was very flavorful. I honestly could've happily eaten lobster bisque and table bread all night (with drinks)! Hahaha! My entree was the glazed salmon. The salmon was a good size portion and wasn't dry. The cooked oysters are fantastic. I wasn't a fan of the fresh oysters, but that's personal, so I'm not knocking them for that. Cons: The service was kinda bumpy. For starters, our server was training another person, who was trying to be aggressive or show initiative, but it felt kinda obnoxious. Three people, including myself, had to send our old fashions back because the bartender did not know how to make them. They lacked sweetness and were just bad. Considering that the old fashion is an IBS staple, not knowing how to make one is nearly unforgivable. The manager made our replacements. The replacements were so good that I asked the manager to serve me two more manhattans, which he gladly did. As you can see by my picture, my mashed potatoes and asparagus were a kid-sized serving IMO. I was too hungry and tired to send it back. They also messed our bills up terribly and caused a lot of confusion. This was frustrating since I took the initiative to ask if we could split the bill 3 ways before we even started. Overall, I don't think the food, service, or ambiance of Devon lives up to its HEFTY price tag. I didn't experience anything that will bring me back anytime soon. read more

I came here on a Saturday for dinner as a party of 8 under a reservation. We were seated right away at a high top. Service was friendly and prompt. It was restaurant week, Devon was offering their normal 3 course offering for slightly cheaper. One thing I found weird is they had a larger filet option for $5 more but the cheaper and smaller filet came with a crab cake and the same sides. So it was just a little strange as far as offerings. It would make sense if only the filet size was the difference. I decided to get it anyways because I wanted the larger filet more. It was cooked perfectly to my liking and had a nice seasoning on it. It came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The first course was a Caesar salad which was a good portion and had a nice flavor. The dessert was a crème brûlée with a few berries on top, I enjoyed it. I also had a moscato with my meal. I really enjoyed this specific brand and would order this next time I come. I don't eat seafood but I felt this is a great restaurant I can go to with my seafood lover friends. There was a few options I could eat and my food didn't taste like it was cooked with seafood items. I also didn't feel like I was in a seafood restaurant. Tis was my first trip back here since the pandemic started, but my parents who live in the area, got takeout from Devon periodically over the past 2 years and said they did an amazing job with it. The crabcakes traveled particularly well by their report. Anyway, we are all dining out again now, so it was great to come back with them while I was in town visiting. The biscuits are amazing as always and a great start to the meal. Their cocktail list is so much fun, and I really enjoyed the maple bacon bourbon. It was not overly sweet and featured a couple of generous pieces of bacon which were really excellent soaked in bourbon! For my entree, I had the rainbow trout with sides of Brussels sprouts with prosciutto and lobster risotto. The trout was sweet, fresh, and grilled perfectly. The sprouts were delicious and the lobster risotto was rich and flavorful. Sides are very generous portions! The food was all excellent and honestly a great value. For dessert two of us split the chocolate cake; it is a big slice and very rich, so it was definitely shareable! It was excellent and a great end to the meal. The raspberry ice cream that came with it was wonderful as well. Service was excellent! Everyone was friendly and the servers always know the menu well. read more

Great place in Lombard/Oak Brook area for steak and seafood. Its atmosphere is great for business, date night, or dinner with friends. We started with drinks and oysters. We had a selection of two types of east coast oysters and accompanying sauces. Their champagne sauce was a bit sweet but fit well with the oysters. We then ordered a prix fix menu. You get two prices, $46 or $56, and the options are not smaller because of this choice, which was a pleasant surprise. I had the Cesar Salad, Arctic Char with sides, and a chocolate cake for dessert. All for $46! I truly thought it would be more for the portions. All was delicious and cooked nicely. I did a bad job with the lack of photos, but that's because I dug into it right away, and was enjoying allllllll of it! The service was great. Our server was at attentive and answered any questions we had. I do wish it was open longer on the weekend, but in times of COVID, I get it. The bar area was nice, but we sat in the dining room. I like this restaurant, and it's upscale but not exorbitant prices, which was the pleasant surprise, especially since the quality of food seems to have a higher value. read more
