I'm always a fan of Dewey's, so I was quite happy to find one so close to our new home in Dayton! And this location didn't disappoint. It's had the same great service and quality of food as any other I've been to. On this particular day it was around 4:30p on a Thursday and there were only a few other tables that were full. This allowed the service to be extra attentive. We love their salads here. In fact, even though I was a vegetarian for twelve years I never really liked salads until I tried on at Dewey's. My go-to it the Grape and Candied Walnut (with mixed greens and blue cheese). But if you can catch the seasonal Harvest (with mixed greens, Boursin cheese, pepitas, figs and bacon), get that! You have the option of adding the cheese chicken, which I do if I'm having it as my entree and skipping pizza. In which case I get the full-size because it's huge and perfectly filling! Hubby and I also got a medium pizza - half Socrates Revenge (an old favorite) and Cubano (the current special). I actually ended up liking the latter even more! I particularly love Dewey's crust. It's not overly thick, but also not thin and burnt. It has the best chew ever! Check them out!! read more

Decided to take my nephew out for what should have been a great pizza experience (I have been to Dewey's countless times) for him, it was not! The service was slow, we had to ask for refills, napkins, plates and our salad. The pizza was extremely disappointing, it "flopped" when you picked it up and it was not piping hot. Adding insult to injury, we were never asked about our food by any member of the staff or manager. I would rate 1 star if my previous experiences were as bad. Will definitely think long and hard before next visit. read more

Ordered just a classic cheese pizza for ~$10! The pizza was delicious and served hot. I got a side of ranch that was some of the best ranch I've ever had! We went at 12pm and it was very dead inside. However, the service was quite slow given the lack of customers inside. We were in a rush, though, so partly our fault. The staff seemed aware of this though and worked to get our food out. Dewey's is the most consistent and made with freshest ingredients to create the best Pie's (pizza) ever. We have been ordering Dewey's since it's opening in Dayton. They never disappoint. Today we ordered 2 large Pie's and 1 Strawberry Macadamia Salad. The pizzas are always amazing and fresh! The first pizza we ordered was half Bronx Bomber and half Porky Fig. The Porky Fig is specialty seasonal flavor pizza. It is super delicious in the sense that you taste salty and sweet flavors in one bite. The Strawberry Macadamia Salad is fresh and tasty with their poppy seed Strawberry vinaigrette dressing. Although it only had 5 quarter cut strawberries in this salad it was still good. We would recommend this location and would take our out of town friends and family to Dewey's anytime. read more

After a long day of work I was dusty and dry and hungry. I moseyed in to Dewey's expecting a college level pie shop slinging cardboard with tomato sauce on it. Love this place! We ordered the original margarite pizza and it was so good! Super thin crust, garlic, tomato's, basil ..and the ingredients are all high quality. Dewey's always has "seasonal" offerings for pizza and salads. I'm not much of a beer or wine drinker, but they offer a wide variety of wines and beers. Service is always top notch. You don't have one waiter or waitress waiting on you. The entire wait staff circles around the floor to ensure your beverages are always topped off and to see if you need anything else. Dessert offerings come from local pastry and bakery shops, such as Killer Brownies from Dorothy Lane Market. My favorites: Pepperoni, Bacon and mushroom calzone with a side of white sauce to dip it in and the Don Corleone pizza with a Caesar salad. We did the Dr Dre and Bronx half and half. Both outstanding. They have a white sauce (not alfredo) that's garlic, olive oil and mozz/fontina blend. Awesome and a nice change from a traditional marinara. It seems they use a group waiting system which is only annoying when 5 different servers ask you the same question within a few minutes. I know a pizza place is good when I am willing to drive 35 minutes to get it, instead of waiting 35 min for regular pizza delivery. When ever I am down in the Oakwood/UD area I love to hit this place. Everything I have had at Dewey's is good. I especially like the "Green Lantern" pizza and their house salad that features roasted pine nuts and goat cheese!!!! YUMMM!!! The restaurant itself is also nice. It's new and spacious. The services is also very good. The staff is courteous and unobtrusive, I always feel well taken care of and never even noticed my water being refilled. Dewey's is great. Guys! Best perk of this place is that you can order a half and half pizza. The sides don't have to have anything in common, not even the base (sauce). I am so thankful that I decided to stop in here. This Dewey's was much like those I experience in Cincinnati, but I made a very important discovery at this location-one I will not forget. Actually, the pizza tasted a bit fresher, lighter, fluffier on this occasion (I'd credit that one to being out of town for the weekend). I digress... As I have come to expect, service at Dewey's is largely friendly, quick, and complete. They were quick to seat, greet, and refill our drinks (helpful as I was a bit parched from running around Dayton all day). The meal the significant other and I had was a cap to our weekend before the drive home to Cincinnati. We split a pizza-half Caprice, half BBQ chicken. Simple enough. Done it before. Many times, in fact. This time though, it was different. I had a stroke of brilliance as I substituted the red peppers (I'm allergic to) for whole roasted garlic. I'll admit I order the calzone from time just to eat those huge, roasted, delicious garlic morsels. It had never occurred to me to add them to this delightful pizza. But I did. And it payed off, in bite after delicious bite of BBQ, chicken, garlic goodness. This location is open and conveniently located in the Brown Street area, by the University of Dayton. It opens to a seemingly shared courtyard with Coldstone and two trees were blooming and beautiful as I looked out onto the patio. The experience was what I expect from Dewey's as a chain, but also much more because we were out of town, it was a great spring day, and I discovered a pizza combo I'm never giving up on now!
