Dewey's latest STL-area location is now open and running about like their other places. They put out good food, feature uniformly great customer service and have clean restaurants. Their pizza is on the top end of "good" without quite crossing over to "great." On this visit, my half of the pizza was bbq chicken. Good but not great. The chicken was a bit dry and flavorless and the overall pie lacked something that I cannot quite put my finger on. The old saying "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts" did not apply this time around as the pizza really tasted like the sum of its parts and lacked cohesiveness. The crust was good - crispy on the bottom, chewy inside and showing the bubbling at the edge that indicated it was cooked in a proper pizza oven at a really high temperature. read more

We finally tried Dewey's . We were pleasantly surprised so many different cheeses. Most pizza places have one cheese. We got a half and half pizza. One side was the white sauce/ and chicken. The other side had a variety, the sausage was the bomb. The owner was super nice and happy to here we loved his pizza. read more

Solid 3 star place, not 4.5 stars for pizza. I was thinking this place was on par with a Frank Pepe's up in New Haven, CT. Having trouble getting my head around where to classify this place. Of course it isn't Domino's (duh), but it isn't a Napoletana either. My crust came out looking like pretzel on the edges. Dr Dre was OK, but the veggies weren't cooked enough, half way between cooked and raw, made it funky considering they put tomatoes on after its cooked to keep them from being soggy which actually was a nice feature. Also had the seasonal meat meat pizza with red sauce and it was decent. The crust was cooked well, had a little pull to it. Thicker than a New York style but still thin. Not much flavor to the crust and can see why others say it has a cardboard flavor as it soaks that up from the serving cardboard platter (they should serve on a metal tray). Only saw an option for gluten free, no wheat and no deep dish here. If you dropped these toppings on a great thin style or pan style crust I think you'd move this pie up one notch. The red sauce and white sauce are good from a flavor perspective. Had a caesar salad which was ok, the dressing was extremely mild but way too much sliced cheese. Couldn't even tell what it was, large thick slices of Mozzarella? If that was Parmesan then find a different one and slice was thinner and smaller as it over powers. Decent selection of basic wines and beers, no complaints there. The ambiance was good, no real complaints about service or the location, those were all fine, but if it's a pizza joint and gets 4.5 Yelp stars, then it had better have some stellar pies which it does not live up to! read more

My wife and I come here all the time and it is consistently our favorite place to eat in St Charles. Great beer, great food, great atmo, and great staff. We often share a greek salad before pizza, and last time we were here, we forgot to order it without dressing. the server immediately switched it out for us. It was our fault and we offered to pay for both salads, but they didn't charge us. :) That's the kind of service that FINALLY gets a guy to write a review! read more

There isn't anything bad to to say about this place!! It has it all. Food, atmosphere, and staff. From the moment we walked in this place is the model of how restaurants should be run. The hostess promptly took our names and even offered a quicker seating option and asked if we wanted to sit at the bar. The food was awesome and the place was buzzing with people. Tonight was guys night out, so my younger son and I took advantage of the bar seating and bellied up. At first we were going to get two 11 inch pizzas but our awesome server told us we could save a little bit if we did a half and half 17 inch pizza. It would be the same servings as two 11 inch pizzas so we took advantage of it. I ordered the Bronx Bomber and my mini me ordered bacon and pepperoni. Here is one thing I loved about this place. It did not matter who our main server was. If our glasses were empty someone would fill them. It was a team effort which is how ALL restaurants should be. The outcome of this type of service is bigger tips and a desire to come back and bring others with you. Okay, back to the review of the food, because that is why you're reading this right? The Bronx Bomber was spot on. Covered with sausage and pepperoni, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives, and onions. The other half was pepperoni and bacon. I have to tell you I loved both. The Bronx Bomber is a classic deluxe pizza. I'm not sure what made it taste so good maybe the slight tanginess of the sauce or the ambience. Overall I cannot help but give this place two thumbs up and highly recommend Dewey's to anyone. read more

I really enjoyed my first visit on a recent trip to St. Louis. I had the Edgar Allen Poe on their gluten free crust and it was very delicious. My only fault with Deweys is that I wish that everyone involved in making my pizza wore gloves. The only one wearing gloves was the dough maker. The guys putting the toppings on did not. I asked why aren't they all wearing gloves and the response was that the oven is hot enough to kill anything. Of course, I had to ask if it kills hangnails and finger hairs too. They just gave me a rude look. It seems it'd be worth the tiny cost of gloves for all of the pizza makers - then it'd be 5 stars for sure!!! The pizza is Delicious! Like Seriously delicious! We love everything about this place. The food, the service, and the beer selections are all great. We were also fortunate to meet one of the owners, Dave, and now feel a better connection to the restaurant. I had the BBQ chicken pizza and was very impressed. My wife had the calzone and couldn't believe the amount of food for the price. I also tried my sister-in-law's gluten-free pizza and felt that it was as good as any conventional pizza. Pizza was solid and I will be back. I don't get all the hype over the peppercorn salad. We got one. It was simply a salad tossed in peppercorn ranch. Nothing to write home about. Once we got a favorite pizza it quickly became our regular pizza spot. Amazing crust with great toppings. Such unique specialty pizza's as well, and a decent beer/wine selection. The first time I had Dewey's I was underwhelmed, but I think you have to find that right fit and stick with it. Also, the service here is TOP NOTCH. Talk about the dream team- I've never had a half empty glass of water, and they're always so thorough. I would recombined coming at least once and trying half a specialty pizza and half a "you built it" pizza. TIP: Through the summer it is always FREEZING in here- bring a jacket! read more

Fantastic pizza. The Dr. Dre is excellent but quite spicy. It is named after one of the original kitchen chefs (Andre) in Cleveland who died from complications with diabetes. Proceeds from each Dr Dre pizza sold go to benefit JDRF which I think is awesome considering my daughter is T1D. Our kids had a cheese pizza which we all enjoyed quite a bit as well. The bar is small but serves up a few local craft beers and they also have a modest red and white wine selection. On Friday it was packed at 7:30 so you might expect a 30-45 minute wait but you can watch the guys in the kitchen make pizzas through the window. We would def be back if had one of these in our area. Might be awhile before they make it to Iowa. read more

This was a fun place! As you know, I am a pizza buff (and if you didn't, you know now). I look to visit as many pizza places I can. I have been excited to try Dewey's take on pizza. The staff was very friendly, and this was a pretty busy location. Our server was new, and being trained by another employee. This was not a problem, because you have to learn sometime! He was wonderfully accommodating and made our visit quite comfy. Our sodas were always full, and the pizza was quite tasty. Decor was a bit contemporary upscale, but nothing you would need to dress up for. It's just a nice, new, hopping facility. We ordered a salad and pizza to share. The salads were tasty, but a bit small. The pizza made up for that and was the star of the show. It is a "fresh" style pizza, almost Boston Style. Although this isn't a favorite of mine in the pizza universe, it is still a contender and deserves some attention. Hit Dewey's, see a movie and have a cup of coffee afterwards. I am SO glad we stopped here. We were traveling through town and turned to trusty Yelp to guide us. It did not disappoint! Very cute restaurant where you can watch the pizzas being made through the window! And VERY clean dining tables, floor and bathrooms. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and our waiter was SUPER.
