I love him and he's healthy and happy. but the girl that was helping literally didn't even give me proper information and just making me follow her around and handing me stuff I need for my enclosure and care. they lack service and I feel like some of the employees are not even educated on these exotic animals. it's a decent place, it's cute but there are better places to get your gear and your reptiles. with much more educated and helpful people to guide you with what you need. also they are always out of feeders, and they are pretty over priced as well. I'd say before you come out here. DO YOUR RESEARCH. buy feeders online for cheap and check amazon and chewy.com for your supplies on a way better cheaper price. read more

So, I've given you guys a 5 stars due to knowledge, cleanliness and variety of merchandise you have for different species of animal. Tho, your prices are absurd! Why charge 3-4x the amount for a item you carry but can order wayyyy cheaper online? No? Ex: 36" T5HO hood for $39.99 and your price is bumping $100's?. Exploiting the fact that you are the only place that carries them quick and fast. Various items hitting double to triple on terrariums, reptiles etc... You are pushing people away with those prices! Only thing this wonderful store lacks is isopods. Everything else you could possibly need or want for your reptiles and amphibians is here. Plus the owner has a great collection of rare and hard to get animals for you to see as well. We have a lot of various amphibians and are going to eventually get some reptiles. All the animals sold here are healthy and very well taken care of. read more

Well, if you need expensive gear that you can buy at big box stores mixed with a smattering of custom items-here you go. Their stock is expensive and you expect a store like this to be better than the big box alternatives... but after dealing with them I challange you to rethink. They asked me to adopt (for free), a bearded dragon that had been dropped off with a prolapsed anus. The animal then developed a yellow & fuzzy discoloration and went through 2 sheds (per the employee), with them not knowing what it is. Despite my reservations I took the dragon home and discovered this yellow fuzz to be a highly contagious and necrotic fungus called "yellow fungus". It just being in my house may have passed it to my other animals and it had to be euthanized. I informed the manager, because this illness needs to have the stock isolated... he blew me off. The animal was eating, and according to him this means it cant be yellow fungus. He then later appologized for being dismissive but reminded me he is not a vet and I shouldnt rely on "internet research." Which is fine, but if he is not a vet why did he and his staff allow an obviously ill animal to sit in the same cage rack with the rest of his stock. A friend told me that a week before he had been in, saw this dragon, and warned the manager that it looked like Yellow Fungus...the manager poo poo'd him and ignored his advice to have it seen by a vet... because it was "eating". Since then I have had a friend come to me to tell me they tried to pressure her into taking their large (one inch roughly) crickets to feed to her moms green anole. They told her they were out of smalls and poo poo'd her then she pointsd out one cricket was the size of the anoles head. For people young in the reptile trade, feeding oversized food to your animals is a great way to kill them with ompaction. I did bring these concerns up on a reptile forum hosted on facebook, and a fellow who had bought a tortoise from them that was housed inappropriately with other tortoises developed shell rot. He convinced himself they had done him a favor by paying SOME of the vet bills for this sick animal... but I think that a sick animal was sold in the first place is unprofessional and that they didn't cover 100% of the vet bills is sad. So I am giving these guys 2 stars because they do carry decent tanks and supplies, but so do any big box retailers ...and probably for cheaper. read more

Just stopped by this weekend. Top notch reptile and amphibian store. Staff is knowledgable and friendly. It's pretty obvious they care about the animal which are all alert and healthy. Huge selection as well. I didn't get anything but the prices seemed reasonable. I would definitely go back or recommend to anyone who like frogs and snakes. read more

Not a reputable provider of reptiles. Decent selection of reptiles for DFW and an easy process to get one, but after you hand them the money you cannot expect a thing from them. For first-time reptile purchasers, I would highly recommend going elsewhere. They will provide everything you need to take care of your animal except for guidance on how to actually do it. I purchased my first reptile there and began noticing problems immediately after (distress, not eating, extended burrowing). I believe this is a clear indicator of the quality of care (or lack thereof) they are providing those poor animals behind closed doors. I called and emailed several times with the occasional unconcerned and impotent response, and sometimes none at all. My reptile died shortly after I purchased it from them, and all they had to say was tough luck. If they had said anything other than that while the animal was still alive, I would likely not be writing this review right now. read more

I was so happy when Plano Pets went out of business after I wrote a 1 star review on that place. It was horrible in my opinion, but stayed in business for a while ONLY because there are not many options for us reptile keepers in the dallas area. If I ever found out a PP employee worked here I'd probably edit my review and never return. However - DFW Reptarium is NOTHING like Plano Pets. The employees here are actually knowledgeable and NICE to customers. They have never talked down to me FOR BEING A FEMALE in the herp keeper community! I have been in that community since 2006 and am very impressed by this store. The enclosures they keep the animals in are AMAZING, beyond adequate, and clean. One time I was in the store and witnessed a man having a tantrum after DFW Reptarium wouldn't sell him a snake...........................because he didn't want to bother with proper care for it. I know they might have lost a customer that day, but good riddance. They were protecting an animal and you have to respect them for that. IT IS SO REFRESHING to find a pet store that actually cares about the animals' well being, rather than a quick profit. Brick and Mortar stores would never give a damn about what happens to the animals after being sold.... All the power to you, DFW Reptarium. I hope your business continues to grow successfully. The prices are a bit high but you do have the monopoly on it. I'm still pleased to have your store as an option. :) read more

Went to plano pets to buy feeder rats only to find out they where closing down talked to some employees of dfw reptarium that happen to be there man glad I found them an actual reptile store so tired of dealing with the basic pet stores just bout anything I would ever need they got and biggest selection of reptiles I've ever seen and the employees actually seem knowledgeable about reptiles if your into reptiles you need to check them out I will definitely be a customer for now on. read more

Coolest reptile store I have ever been to. I drive 30 minutes to this store and 30 minutes back home once a week/two weeks for their live feedings. They ALWAYS have as many live mice/rats as I need. Any size. Frozen as well. I think they have bigger feedings too like rabbits but I don't know if alive (I only have corn snakes). The staff has always been courteous and helpful as well. i go to this place pretty often, they have a lot of stuff most pet stores dont carry. however i was just in there and i asked an employee for 200 crickets, and she went to the back to get them. after waiting around for about 30 minutes i saw her again and when i asked her about the crickets she said "theyre up at the front" in this tone like it was supposed to be obvious. after we left my friend called the store to give a *small* complaint, we werent looking to get her in trouble, but some attentiveness is important when working in retail. anyways, the manager was a complete dick, told my friend she just wanted her "ass kissed" (his words) and was very unhelpful and unnecessarily rude. he said "ive never gotten a complaint about her" when all he wouldve had to say to her is "make sure you tell people when you leave something at the front for them" its that simple. so like i said, its a great place for supplies and reptiles but theyre customer service is lacking. edit: i highly recommend going to the DFW Serpentarium instead. i got a scaleless bearded dragon from the reptarium, priced at $200. i went to the serpentarium to look around and found out my beardie is actually worth upwards of $450!!! which only tells me these people are not as knowledgeable as they seem. i was also told by the manager that my scaleless didnt need any kind of extra care as far as shedding goes (despite all of my personal research saying otherwise) and ive just taken her to the serpentarium for shedding aid because she does in fact, need lots of extra help shedding. im enormously disappointed in the service at the Reptarium, and i wont be returning. also i thought i should note that the employee mentioned in my above comment thought my review of her was pretty funny and left a laughing face reply. dont waste your time or money here!!! ive also heard plenty of other stories of poor experiences here at the reptarium. read more

Usually a pretty good place with friendly staff. However, prices on their feeders are a bit much and they never seem to count the bugs. Usually this results in more than I need (and my reptiles are happy about that), but recently they've been cutting it short and by the time I get home and can count them I realize that I just lost nearly $10 because they simply didn't give me everything I paid for. read more

I'm very impressed with the dedicated staff. They have a good selection and prices are average for their supplies. I don't expect super cheap internet prices from a brick-and-mortar store that is not about volume, but is about responsible care, good customer service and a solid level of expertise. They have given me good advice on many occasions. I haven't had a single bad experience and I go there almost every week to buy feeder insects. I have purchased geckos, enclosures, lighting, etc. Yes, I do shop online, but I also like to see what I am getting before I buy. read more

I came up to the door at 5:03 and asked if I could just get some Dubia roaches really quick, but they insisted the register was closed even though I said I'd pay with a debit card. Also this was a twelve year old telling me this, the adult management was purposefully ignoring me. A little above-and-beyond management and service goes a long way. Definitely recommend this place - we have been looking at leopard geckos for quite some time but I just didn't feel right buying one from petco or pets mart. I found these guys on Yelp and I'm so thankful I did! They were very helpful and answered every question that we had! You could really tell they care about all the reptiles and that they own many themselves! It's such a need place too with such an large variety of reptiles! Literally one of my favorite places ever!! The staff is very educated and friendly! You will not find a cooler looking store with healthier, happier looking animals. I work at a local pet store and I send my customers to the reptarium for all the needs I cant provide for them at my store such as exotic bugs, awesome and custom enclosures, backgrounds provided by Universal Rocks (who are also amazing), and knowledge! I bought my bearded dragon from this place and to my surprise the staff here is more interested in caring for these creatures rather than making a quick buck. Which is why I like them! As soon as I enquired about a bearded dragon a very nice lady employee began to quiz me to make sure I had his habitat ready for him and I knew what I was doing. If this would have been a big name pet sore they would have sent me home with a dragon not caring if I was going to care for him or not. These guys are awesome, in so many ways. First off they know there stuff. Second staff is very helpful and kind. Third they have a great selection of reptiles and they also have live feeders. I also wanted to share my last experience at DFW Reptarium. On January 4, I accidentally broke my ceramic heat lamp, while cleaning my Ball Python's cage. So I went to DFW Reptarium. Well it turns out they are closed, like 30 minutes past closing. I was able to get there attention and explain I broke my my ceramic bulb I needed a new one. They let me in despite being closed so I can purchase a new one. They could have just easily told me Petsmart is down the road. The fact that they did not do this, they have earned a customer for life. read more

I visited DFW Reptarium for the first time today. I was impressed by the huge array (and good pricing) of reptile supplies, and by the diverse selection of gorgeous reptiles in stock. The enclosures are attractive, all the animals appeared very well-cared for, and the staff was friendly and helpful, even though I was just there to browse, not buy. I will definitely be going back to this location for my reptile supplies in the future. No other pet store in Dallas compares. read more

I visited this establishment on a whim browsing local pet shops on yelp. Initially I was quite impressed with the variety as well as the cleanliness and appearance of well taken care of animals. Then as I was browsing the selection of reptiles in their enclosures I was appalled by the treatment of one of their western hog nosed snakes. The teenage staff member that was feeding and refreshing the water of the reptiles referred to this particular snake as an "asshole". They then proceeded to cause undue stress on the poor creature by poking it with a stick until it performed its defense mechanism of playing dead. These animals are not performing slaves but living beings. The treatment by this young staff member for their bemusement and the attempted entertainment of the stores patrons was appalling to say the least. I personally will not be returning and can not recommend that anyone patronize this establishment as long as this kind of treatment is allowed by the store and it's managers. read more
