The newbie on Main and 49th is clean bright and spacious. I went at an odd hour of 4pm so the place was all mine. From their menu with extensive choices, I chose the Shahi Chicken Biryani. It was served in a pretty bowl that at first looked like a smaller portion. But once you realize it has a flat bottom, the volume is there. Shahi Chicken Biryani was a bit salty. Adding the spicy sauce and yoghrt made it better. The chicken serving is generous with chunks buried in the rice. The rice can be a bit hotter and the chicken a bit fresher. It still offered a good dining experience. Had to take a star off for a washroom that was left unattended even though there were staff available to clean it. Hope to try their curry next time.

We found this gem during a quick trip to Vancouver and were blown away by the flavor. The biryani, curries, and rumali rotis were all amazing--authentic and perfectly spiced. We loved it so much, we stopped by again on our way back to Seattle. Highly recommend!

    Kadai chicken

The chicken 65 tender, flavorful! Hyderabad chicken curry, great spice flavors and not too spicy. Kadai chicken curry, a milder spice tomato base curry boneless chicken. We ordered Garlic Naan thin and flavorful. Totally would recommend for lunch! Plenty of food to share. Would highly recommend!!! The service was great, she was very helpful in our discussion making of all the great choices.

The food and service are great. Our favorite was the dhmamaka mixed grill kebabs. Super smokey, juicy, and tasty. Would highly recommend.

Also, go early so that you have more bun options - they do sell out of certain flavors the later it gets. Luckily we were still able to get the two that we wanted which were black sesame and a custard buns. They were not only super cute, but they were really delicious as well. The fillings were very strong in flavor and did not disappoint. There was enough searing when I went. Next time I will have to try their coconut drinks and desserts!

So technically this was dessert #3 over the course of not even an hour. The good thing is that this was not an overwhelmingly sweet or heavy dessert. It really went down with the same ease as just a regular mango would have, but it just had some extra (mostly natural) stuff. I'd happily enjoy this deliciousness on a regular basis if I lived in Vancouver. There were a ton of menu items that looked appealing, so I'm might even be their best customer.

As I love desserts, I was so excited to see Chinatown and visit this place for the first time. This place was located in an area that would be best to walk with a friend or a small group- I was not quite prepared to see and experience what was going on all around. Finally, we made it there and were glad to order some doughnuts. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the sweet smell of doughnuts and the two friendly staff. Everything looked so good, so narrowing down our pick was very hard! At the end, we ordered two flavours- Matcha and Tiramisu. The matcha doughnut was soft and the filling was light yet full of matcha flavour that one would expect, I loved every bite! My friend had the tiramisu doughnut and she said that she enjoyed the fluffy texture of the dough and the creamy filling- it felt like eating tiramisu in a doughnut form. If you love simple yet high quality ingredients, this place is the perfect place to get your sweet cravings fixed!

I could see some people balking at the $6 price, but I consider these a special treat. The location itself leaves something to be desired since it feels like it is under construction except for the pastry counter. No furniture and the floors look unfinished. Definitely not a place to hang out. Brendan's Rating: 3.0 Charlotte's Rating: 3.0 Shanying's Rating: 3.0 Winston's Rating: 4.0

I'm from the Bay Area and we have our fair share of Japanese grocery stores (shout out to Niiya in Japantown in San Francisco) but I was very excited to see the selection here. Definitely came across items I've never seen before like a Takoyaki flavored Ramune. It was extremely discounted just fyi probably for good reason. They even had Japanese canned drinks stored hot like in Japan! The take away Japanese desserts also looked good. This place is right on Robson street so a great place to grab a snack, drink, pick me up while shopping. Prices seemed reasonable. One caveat is that it can get busy in here and the aisles are small so it felt a little crowded but that's sort of like Japan as well lol so not a big deal for me. Added to the ambience. Checkout was quick and easy!

It sounds crowded - and it is - but once you push your way to the back of the store, you'll find a tiny Japan tour travel agency and a shelf of clearance items at rock-bottom prices. Service is cheerful, personable and brisk. The store also houses a takeaway crepe and ice cream shop - the crepes are actually better than the ones I've had in Tokyo.
