Quite possibly the best restaurant burger I've ever had. The entrance with its wind tunnel was a bit odd, but once I was inside I was greeted with a friendly hello and a smile. Ordering was easy, and the person helping me knew the answers to my questions. My food was cooked to order, and I had enough time to go next door to wash my hands, come back, and sit for a few min before it arrived. I couldn't have the English muffin bun (dairy allergy). They offered their gluten free bun, but I opted for a lettuce wrap instead. The burger was super juicy and this was messy, but not as crazy as I worried it might be, lol. My burger was cooked perfectly and was seasoned DELICIOUSLY. All caps deserved. Man, that was a good burger! The quality of their beef really shines through. Then the fries. The fries!!! Oh my yum. This is a golden spot. You cannot miss Diablo burger when you come to Flagstaff. We saw people raving about it in a couple of YouTube videos and this was our first stop here. The burgers are made with English muffins- which I have never seen and it's truly a game changer. The burgers are neatly constructed and I was able to eat the whole burger without any of it sliding out. The blackboard special had a carrot/jicama slaw and grilled poblano in it- goodness, I am drooling thinking about it right now. The wrigley is also very well made and definitely a new take on your classic Swiss+mushroom burger. The frites are very crispy and unique and I couldn't stop eating them! We drove to Flagstaff from Roseville, CA today. After the 11 hour drive a burger is just what I needed. I gotta say - excellent burgers! My wife had the Spring Picnic Burger with grilled peaches, cream cheese, honey, & a patty. She loved it! I had the Marilyn & my sister had the Blake. Pretty disappointing and not what we remembered. We lived in Flag for more than 5 years and used to love Diablo. After moving back to Northern Arizona, we decided to come back on a day trip to Flag and have lunch at (what used to be) one of our favorite lunch spots. Long story short, it was a disappointing use of $70. We had three burgers w/fries and realized that the grass fed burgers we can get at our local farmer's market are just as good (if not better) at a fraction of the price. My aunt and I both have celiac and a dairy allergy. We shared a burger on a gluten free bun with fries. The staff is FANTASTIC! Very knowledgeable, extremely helpful, all while being extraordinarily friendly. Often it feels like our food issues are an imposition when we eat out, but not here! The gluten free bun is also dairy free. It does look more like an English muffin than a bun, but in my opinion that's great because there is absolutely no mistaking their regular bun for their gluten free bun, and it tasted great too. It was recommended that we have the burger cooked medium rare, so we tried it that way. For both of us it was a little less cooked than we would ordinarily choose, and I think next time we will go with medium well just because of our own weirdness about the way we prefer our ground beef cooked. That said, even still, the burger was excellent and the fries were fantastic! Often we go to places with safe options for our dietary issues, and it's clear that our husbands would not feel like the food was hearty enough. This place has thick hearty burgers that would satisfy the biggest carnivore. We will definitely be back, next time with our gluten and dairy consuming husbands! My husband and I stopped here for a hamburger. A friend pre-warned me that Diablo makes thick burgers that are rarer than expected. At most restaurants I order a burger cooked to medium. At Diablo I ordered a well- done burger, and it had the right ("medium") amount of pinkness inside, with a well-done outside. Perhaps the restaurant is unable to adjust the temperature of their grill to accommodate different requests for doneness. It all worked out. My burger was very good. It's nice to have a hamburger thicker than the typical thin patty. We got fries, and they were good. The ambiance of this place is rather stark and fast-foodish. We sat inside on tractor-seat bar stools at a high table. The stools offer little back support. This is not a comfy spot where I would want to linger. The restaurant's plan is probably for customers to eat and leave. There is additional seating at on outdoor uncovered patio. Those tables appear to be normal height picnic tables with long picnic benches. It was dark when we visited so I didn't get a good look. read more

The short of it is that this is an outrageously priced ($16) 6oz burger on an English muffin served with fries. I knew this was going to be a child's portion so I also ordered the grilled cheese for $12.75 (which also came with fries). I find it kind of misleading that the header photo on their website *appears* to be a full-sized burger on a full-sized bun. The burger was flavorful but when the bun is so thin that your hands get burned by the sizzling beef patty, that's where I'd go back to the drawing board. The concept makes no sense to me aside from that people would complain about the burger size if they were served on full-sized buns or even the ever-shrinking brioche buns you find at grocery stores. The grilled cheese was overloaded with vegetables. Makes for a weird mouth feel that is way too mushy. Helped fill me up, though. Fries were meh, consistency not impressive at all while seated outside. Both too thin to be enjoyable in one way and too thick to be enjoyable in the other way. You'd have a really hard time convincing me to pay $6.25 for a basket of fries in Arizona. Ultimately, this locally-sourced pitch feels like virtue signaling for no reason and with no measurable benefit to consumers. If it means the prices are literally doubled compared to Mama Burger's, and I still get asked to leave a tip after standing in line at a counter for 20 minutes, I find it to be more of an insult that anything. read more

What appeared on our plates was slightly larger than a slider, but was by no means a true burger; the m.o. of Diablo Burger is their use of English muffins in lieu of a proper burger bun. The lunch that we received can only be described as dry, micro-burgers on an otherwise generous pile of french fries along with two pickle spears that dwarfed the burgers. We were also disappointed with the parsimonious inclusion of our two requested ingredients. Our dry, sauceless "burgers", the patties of which looked the color of beef jerky, included perhaps a teaspoon of roasted garlic or less and at best nearly a tablespoon of green chilies. The English muffins themselves seemed to present an aesthetically charred effect which seemed to have more effort put into them than the burgers themselves. To be fair, the service was decent, though the music was too loud. We also appreciate that there was a vegetarian option; however, hungry travelers deserve burgers larger than the palms of their children's hands. Meat burgers on other tables were the same size. With our trip in Arizona coming to a close, reviews and blogs all mentioned that Diablo Burger was one of the foodie spots to check out in Flagstaff. Because its prime location at Old Town Shops, parking can be quite hard, but the restaurant itself is hard to miss. Joe Sorren's mural "The Veridic Gardens of Effie Leroux" a surreal dark painting with whimsical flare plastered along the cylindrical wall that encompasses the restaurant. In terms of the food, I thought was solid. Their niche is that all their burgers use English muffins instead of a traditional bun. It definitely provides a different experience because of that crunch you get from the outside and the chewy center that soaks up the flavors on the inside. I had the Wrigley Field which came with sharp cheddar, grilled onions, bacon, and spicy sauce. However, the downside of using the English muffin is that it is definitely on the smaller side. The order comes with a side of fries which came with a unique blend of seasonings that definitely takes it a notch above your typical burger joint. While I loved the flavor, the fries were a little bit on the soggy side. I also thought they provided WAY too much fries to burger ratio which seems weird to dislike. However, when they were not super crisp and heavily seasoned as it was, hard to finish with the burger. Service during COVID is only to-go orders only. You may call or order online in advance. Dining tables have been blocked off, but if you are lucky, there are several public dining tables in front. Would love to go back when things are open again! Well my husband has learned a valuable lesson to look further down in the reviews and look at pictures. Where do I start......whoever at this joint thought English muffins was a good choice for a hamburger bun is sadly mistaken. We should have seen the red flags the moment we walked in and before we paid. First things the wobbly tractor chairs inside were horrible and forced us outside with the flies. When we ordered my husband ordered the BIG daddy Kane and I ordered the Wrigley Field. Now..... both of these items represent large things right???? Well they were not in any way. The concept of the burgers is good but to put a small hockey puck meatball shaped piece of meat on a English muffin is just ludicrous. The burger had no flavor. When I ordered the girl asked me if medium rare was ok and I said yes... well the cook obviously didn't get the same memo. Our tomatoes were bigger than our burger and there was only 1 piece of bacon as well. The fries or frites ( bad attempt at being bougee) was over priced for a basket and whoever thought of putting herbs de Provence on the fries needs to go back to cooking school. Also serving bits and pieces of potatoes smaller than 1/2 inch is not good business. Now I understand you don't offer fountain drinks but 3.50 for a bottle of tea and when you offer water at-least bring it out cold with ice. Not worth $52 and 6.00 to park to walk there.
