Pros: this was a massive burger. You will not go hungry I went here on a recommendation from a friend who had gone to college here, and unfortunately I was a little underwhelmed. I got there right when they opened and had the place to myself. The women and the counter were very nice and the service was excellent. I had the one that comes with cheese and bacon and sauce (1000 island) and ordered it to their recommended done level of medium rare. It was served on a gigantic mound of fries, which had a pretty good flavor. The burger however was really dry. The place is VERY small, maybe 2 or three tables inside the rest is seating outside. Heard a lot about this place, but the food was just ok. It is located in downtown and has a few seats inside and outside heated seating. Service was just ok, even though we came at a quiet time. The food was disappointing. The burgers were charred too much that it tasted burnt. Out of 4 we ordered, three of them had the burnt taste, while only 1 burger came out great. I would stick to their suggestion of medium or below, cause asking for medium well doesn't really make a difference as it still comes out pink, but dryer. read more

I ate burgers here on two consecutive nights in 2016. The first was so good I absolutely could not resist returning again our second night in town. The two were so unbelievably delicious that I'm here now, 7.5 years later fantasizing about returning in February 2024. Not sure what happened to this place, but the hamburgers are expensive, cooked poorly, small and served on an english muffin style bun that's underwhelming. Essentially you're paying $15 + for a large basket of fries - which are decent, but don't make up for the lousy burgers. Save the $$ and go to 5 Guys or In & Out. The Tucson store didn't make it and I wouldn't be surprised if this store dies on the vine. Hope they can revamp, but I'm not coming back to find out. If you're starving, bring a snack, it's a good 20-30 minute wait to order your hamburger. Though I personally have had better hamburgers, the concept of this restaurant and the extreme friendliness bumped my review from 4 stars to 5 stars. $30 bucks for two hamburgers and 1 root beer. This place had a lot of hype. Saw someone from Tucson post that they loved this burger place so much that they drove from Tucson to Flagstaff. Look it's good....but that's a stretch. The burger meat I will say was as good as advertised. Real quality grass fed meat. This was the best part. I also thought I'd find the English muffin to be odd but it actually was a solid alternative for a bun. The pickle was also a nice touch. I didn't realize that the seating options weren't standard until arrival. You either sit inside in cramped high top table or on bench tables outside. All tables are communal so there isn't much of a "dining experience"....not that it was advertised nor to be expected at a burger place but I guess I thought there would be more normal tables. There also weren't that many in general so you may have to compete to grab half a table. I thought that the burgers were a bit too pricey but hey I guess that's inflation. The fries were decent and it was nice they at least came with the burger. 75 cents extra for ranch though. Not cool. Not cool at all. Make the ranch free. The reason for 4 stars is that I honestly would pick the chain HopDoddy over Diablo simply due to the price comparison, vast amount of FREE sauces, etc. The quality of meat is what would bring me back here. First thankful they have a gluten free bun! These are great burgers and there is a wide variety of toppings to choose from to customize your burger. The pre-made options are nice but I usually choose the "Ziggy Stardust" where you can make your own. Personally, I think Diablo Burger does itself an injustice in a way by being in this location. The awkward shape means customers usually have to wait outside in the rain and snow for their burgers. The outside seating is only ideal in the summer. The inside seating is incredibly uncomfortable and part of the reason my husband and I rarely choose to come here. It's OK. There were three of us, and all of us agreed that it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't worth ever going back again. My husband ordered his grilled cheese without tomatoes and it came with tomatoes. He's not allergic or anything. He just doesn't prefer them on a sandwich because of the soggy factor. I had the make your own burger with Cheddar, Bacon, Raw onion and blacking spice. No extra charge for the spice. It was very good, I ordered it medium rare as they recommended . Was hiking the area and was hungry and the group picked Diablo Burger as the place to go. The entrance isn't quite easy to figure out, but once we found it, we got in line. I have to say the longest part of this experience was waiting in the line. While in line you can glance over the menu because once you make it inside you place your order and inform them of the area you will be seated at. After checking out the menu, I went with the Senor Smoke, it was a char broiled burger with ancho grilled onions, grilled avocado, bacon, cilantro & sriracha mayo on a branded English muffin with lettuce, tomato and pickle on the side with some fries. You know when somebody working in the kitchen is actually trying versus just trying to get through their shift. Whoever made my burger last night deserves employee of the month. And the dude who took my order last night, who I entrusted to choose my burger for me, deserves employee of the month the next month for suggesting The Traveling Wilburys We didn't even plan on eating a burger, we actually had our hearts set on Indian food, but the place around the corner we usually go to was closed to renovate. But we kept smelling this amazing grill smell outside, so we followed our noses and ended up at Diablo. I asked the guy up front to choose my burger based on what his favorite was - I didn't even bother looking at the menu and just left my meal to fate. Well, I am not exaggerating in the least when I say, it was by far the best burger I ever had in my entire 44 years on this planet, and I have eaten a lot of burgers in my life. And I don't expect every burger they make to be this perfect cuz that's just impossible. But the dude who suggested this burger nailed his suggestion, and the person who cooked it clearly cares about the quality of the food they make. Bonus points, the fries were actually incredible too. And my wife's grilled cheese would have been the talk of the night if that burger didn't absolutely steal the show last night. The meat was not just some standard patty, it was like the del monico of burger patties. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and it even looked cute. I will talk about this burger for decades to come and recommend to everyone within ear shot that they try it for themselves. I hope the cook's boss sees this review and acknowledges their employee's great work. I did not expect this burger to be literally INSPIRATIONAL. We waited in line for 30 min to order. By the time we got to the counter they made us wait another 10 min because they were so backed up before we could order. Literally standing at the register just standing there for another ten minutes. Food took another 20 min after ordering. There were 5 employees standing around looking at each other. There are many places to eat around here. It isn't worth your time to come to a place where they simply don't care about their customers or their customer service. Go some where else. Looks pretty nice from the outside, the seating isn't my favorite but it was decent. The burgers themselves are served on english muffins which is very subjective, didn't enjoy them myself. I liked the condiments but the toppings (lettuce, tomato, etc.) were serviced on the side. A nitpick, I know, but it's just a little detail that would make it nicer. The patties were tiny! For $15 I could get a lot more protein somewhere else, and the bacon I added on was literally 1 slice broken in half, not worth $1.50 to me.
