We have lived in Cortez for 15 years and never tried the Diamond Belle. We did not know what we were missing. I was very surprised to see the hardwood old time bar. Very unique and different from other places. We were told to sit anywhere. After finding a seat we noticed they had tables upstairs as well. And the ceiling had the old time square metal decor. There was live music from a western singer. It was fun to listen to in the cheery atmosphere. A nice waitress explained what was the local favorites. My husband ordered Chicken Gargonzola and I had the Fish and Chips. A gentleman brought us our food and asked if we needed refills. The food was delicious. The waitress came by often to see if the food and drinks were what we wanted. We highly recommend this place to any family and friends. read more

Totally amazing! We were there yesterday during a heavy rainstorm but that didn't stop the fun or the surprise shoot out show we weren't expecting. On our most recent visit, we tried a filet mignon special, and while it was prepared well, the quality of the steak itself didn't quite meet the expectations we've come to have for Kennebec, particularly for the price. That said, this was a relatively small criticism of an otherwise great experience. Overall, Kennebec Café continues to offer a good combination of atmosphere, service, and food, and it remains a place we enjoy returning to when visiting the area. This sandwich is truly epic. The wheat bread is from a local bakery. Instead of it being toasted in a perfunctory, afterthought manner, it is thoroughly toasted right at the point of the wheat kernels cracking, engendering the goodness only wheat can provide. The bacon is properly cooked, with no hint of undercooked slime present. The green chili tastes as though it was brought here this morning from Hatch, with the whole of the ingredients being uniquely fresh. Finally, the sriracha mayo sauce provides just the right presence of spice, uniquely accenting the green chili. Turkey itself is great, but I confess, is so overshadowed by the excellence present throughout the sandwich, that it hardly occupies the center stage. On another note, a definite problem here is that the water glass conveying a distinct taste of soap residue. It's bad. This happened the last time that I was here, as well. I did tell the owner about this today. Pricing is just right and seating can be awkward at times. I look forward to returning.
