if I could give Diane's 10 stars, I would do that. I travel from Westford MA to Sea Cliff, NY a few times a year to visit relatives, and have been stopping at Diane's to pick up their custard (now cheesecake) fruit tart for the last 15 or so years. It is fantastic. The strawberries and blueberries that decorated the tart are always at the peak of flavor. My husband can't get enough of the lemon squares, and we're always adding cookies and bread to our order. No matter what we order, it is always delicious and fresh. The staff are always friendly and chatty. The lines to order are always long (but don't ever let that deter you from going) because it is worth the wait. The bakery items are great but my experience in the cafe was dismal! The staff was the main problem: they were unfriendly, unhelpful and unwelcoming. I asked for a roll and they charged 50 cents for one pat of butter! Really? I won't be going back there again but believe me those employees couldn't care less! read more

I have been a customer since she opened.But the staff has gotten downright rude. I am recently handicapped . I am deaf in one ear and partially blind. I asked the young lady for some items but she was very snotty and acted like I was wasting her time. There was no one else ordering. She huffed and rolled her eyes at me more than once. If you are handicapped beware. It will be a while before I even think of returning. Before my stroke I was there 2-3 times a week. Its a shame she doesn't have a staff to match the quality of her food. read more

Once a huge fan of Diane's Bakery, I was just back last week driving MILES out of my way to stop off and get treats for the trip to the zoo and sadly disappointed by my baked stash. My mainstays - the cream scone, carrot muffin PLUS two B&W cupcakes for the kids came to a total of $8. The muffin, full of walnuts and raisins, was the highlight but being an oil-based quickbread it would be hard to mess up. The cream scone missed by a longshot - dense, dry and overworked - even a pound of clotted cream and a cup of tea (had I had it) couldn't save it. Besides it lacked flavor. The cupcakes, for my two year olds, were rejected after a single bite! By far the worst cupcake in creation. The cake was incredibly dry; beyond crumbly and in fact inedible. The frosting, a poured fondant, was typically sugary sweet but on that rock of a cupcake..... I was hoping this was just an off day and I intentionally made a return trip on the weekend hoping (praying) that I would be pleasantly surprised. Same goods - same disappointments. I might add that the service has also dropped off making me wonder if the owners are still interested in the day to day. Good help is hard to find in the food industry; cheap help is a necessity; but ultimately your front end needs to be able to communicate with your clientele and MUST know what they are selling. Above all they should be aware that a customer is standing at the counter and it is their job to service them. (and assuming the white gal can't/doesn't speak their native language is not a great assumption....) I'll miss Diane's from the bottom of my bakery loving belly. But I'm not inclined to return. read more

The best hazelnut coffee ever! They have a bunch of really yummy salads in the back that you can take to go or have there. I had this corn salad with cilantro and tomatoes, as well as Brussels sprouts which were very tasty! The place is very nicely decorated and is very inviting! read more

People in NY must not really Yelp much, because if they did this place would have 200+ 5 star reviews...I'm a transplated Long Island girl moved to CA, and every time I come back Diane's is on my must-have food tour list for the chocolate cheesecake brownie, which is so amazingly good I can't even describe it...I've tried other things that were good but none measured up to this one simple pleasure. read more

We've been to Diane's for dinner and her bakery for lunch and sit outside. My mother wanted a simple Mother's Day and Diane's bakery was open until 5PM. We went about 1:30 took a table outside on the deck. Went in to order from the salad bar and felt like the food was being dumped on my plate in a hurray. They were completely out of all 3 ice teas. While we were eating we realized that the restaurant was serving a Mother's Day brunch. The staff hovered waiting for our table so that they could seat people outside. They made us and others feel very uncomfortable . Very upsetting for my mother, sister and myself. Diane thank you for ruining my Mothers day. read more

The customer service is horrible . I was helped by someone who had an attitude and was unhelpful considering there is no displayed prices or labels for the baked goods. On top of that, this young woman was waiting for us to enter a tip on the credit card receipt!! My tip is: work on your customer service before you ask for a tip on a bakery purchase!! read more

Great service, cute place! Love the chocolate cake which is soo delicious! Also had the apple crumb pie which is supposed to be a big hit here. I was not impressed...it was just OK for me. Not sure what apples were used, but they had too much crunch for my taste and the filling was just alright.Also, the crumble was not my favorite. I will try the triple berry pie next time but for now, I would recommend the chocolate cake and an expresso! :) read more

I was so sick of Starbucks on so many levels. So I went back to Diane's, which has the best rugolach I have ever tried and a hazelnut coffee I missed. Diane's is serving a non-ultrapasteurized heavy cream, a detail that makes all the difference. Favorites: The turkey waldorf salad, the turkey chili, the caponata panini, fresh cold raspberry iced tea in the summer. For dessert there's the banana cream pie, raspberry cheesecake, and those raspberry jam-filled heart cookies. Not the best, but the best outside of NYC. read more
