The hazelnut coffee was delicious, and everyone inside could not have been nicer as I struggled to pay while holding a curious pup. Not sure what th buzz is about in this place. Was never crazy about the savory food consisting of Cold salads that are dropped off each morning. Today, I saw the buzz...... literally. Flies all over the sweets like vultures on a carcass. No thanks. Do yourself a favor and get the biscotti enclosed in the glass jars, if you have to come here. Also, the service is quite offensive. While the aroma is wonderful, taste is something else . We were extremely disappointed in the two cakes and tart we bought. Forgetting we almost choked when we went to pay, (total bill over $70)) we would have been okay if everything tasted exceptional Everyone at the table was surprised when we told them we bought them at Dianes. The marble bundt cake was the most disappointing. There was hardly any chocolate, and it was very dry.(and it was small!) The apple cake had very little apple, and it too was not moist. I realize many people love their individual pastries, and dont mind paying premium pricing, but their whole cakes and tarts leave a lot to be desired and at premium prices should be premium quality. read more

There are many places in Roslyn that are labeled as "scenes," and between my friends who grew up here and the people I've overheard at work, I know them all. This is one of the few places that is older Roslyn and not overhyped. As far as breakfast or lunch go, you can't do better. The quaintness of the place is what really makes it great. As opposed to a place like Kitchen Kabaret, where it sometimes feels like they've recreated rush hour at Penn Station. The raspberry cheese pastries, panini, and coffee are all great, there really isn't anything I've tried there yet that is mehh-worthy. For the prices, they aren't as bad as the dearly departed Bruce's in Great Neck, and the people who work their aren't as nearly insufferable, either. read more

It's more like a 3.5. I went with a few friends after church last Sunday for some catching up. We went there thirty minutes minutes before closing time so at 4:30pm, and initially I thought that we were going to Starbucks or something so I was happily surprised. It's a little bakery shop not tiny cute and homey feeling place. There's seating first floor and a second floor as well. When we went I think we were the only ones there, which I don't mind. The cafe itself is dimly lit. So there are three workers there and there is this one woman worker who has such a big attitude and is full of herself. My friend got pissed at her and called her on her rudeness when she asked her for more coffee because there wasn't enough for the three of us and the worker was kind of saying shit not about her but complaining in some rude manner that we asked her for more coffee or whatever. So I just told my friend it's NY after all and not California to ameliorate the situation. My friend bought the coffee for all of us and a row of cookies, they were very hard but tasted good. The coffee was hot, which is a good thing. I got the banana cream pie, which is $10 for a small round cake but all three of us had not problem sharing it in between us. Oh yeah, and when I asked the loud mouthed annoying rude worker for a banana cream cake or I said one word that was wrong she was like we don't have that we have banana cream pie in a condescending manner. Seriously, it's the same damn thing! I just said one word wrong and you make it such a big deal. Anyways, the banana part was very good and had a little bit of an orangey taste, which was new for a change. The cream pie part was not that great but the amazing bananas made up for it. I love bananas! My other friend got some cheesecake like thing which was decent but nothing to go nuts about. So after thirty minutes because the shop was closing we were going to go but I wanted to buy something for my family before we left. I got some tart based cake which peaches, I think which was also $10. I wanted to buy another banana cream pie, because I like it that much but when I asked the worker kindly if they had more she gave me such an attitude like I was offending her and said they make newly fresh ones everyday. I wasn't questioning the quality of the banana cream pies. She could have just said sorry, we don't have any more left. seriously, what is her problem? So I asked between two tart like cakes and asked which one was better and she was just like it depends on the person. wow, you can tell me how the cakes are different or whatever. I am doing you a favor by wanting to buy another cake when your store is closing jeez. and I think the other two workers sensed and probably felt how rude their coworker was and was very kind and helpful in helping me choose the peach tart cake. All of this didn't bother me at all at the time, and now that I think about it, she was really rude. I probably didn't notice it so much because my friend was so upset so I couldn't be just as upset. I will only go there again for the banana cream pie and to try some other desserts. The peach tart was good but way too sweet for my taste but my mom and sister enjoyed it, so that's all that it matters. The pricing is on par with its quality of freshness and a little bit of uniqueness. I recommend the banana cream pie and someone yell at the rude worker for me read more

We had a late lunch in the area and i was craving a little something sweet..so we stopped in Diane's... we had a small chocolate mousse pie with whipped cream..i really liked it!! it was soo fresh and good! I come to Diane's every Saturday morning before I start my day. There are plenty of other bakeries closer to me that I could go to but none that are quite like Diane's. in one word Diane's is wholesome they don't sell the sweet pastries that you can get another bakeries and cakes and cookies but there are muffins their pies are absolutely delicious. I'm a big coffee drinker and the taste of their coffee keeps me coming I don't know what coffee they use but it keeps me coming. read more

Discovered Diane's Bakery today. Omg. I went insane. I normally have some restraint when eating at a bakery but completely lost it. The quality of everything was superb. The building is charming and I sat down to take in the scene. It was 9:30 on a Saturday morning and the customer stream was steady and at times heavy. There were clearly lots of regulars. Everything I tasted was delicious from the freshly brewed coffee to the following feast: an almond croissant, a pumpkin slider with egg and bacon, and a half bagel layered with capers onions and salmon. Later in the day I opened my bag of goodies and devoured a pumpkin muffin and this evening a slice of fresh cheese cake. I can't wait to go back! Somehow my restraint didn't completely fail me. This is not just a review of Diane's Desserts but also Diane's Bakery Cafe. Everything is superb there. The Cafe offers food by the pound so it can add up but totally worth it. We loved the salmon, corn salad, and Brussels sprouts. Now for the sweets, the chocolate mousse is simply amazing! So Delicious!! The only drawback is the lack of seating. read more

Quaint little bakery with desserts, simple panini and soups. The portobello "panino" was crispy and had great simple flavors. The size is perfect for a smaller appetite. They are also not over stuffed, so can enjoy the bread without worrying about the stuffing oozing out. Lentil soup is great too. The soup was not heavy or thick. Goes great with a light lunch. Great food in a quaint, rustic atmosphere. Terrific desserts. Better if you've got some time-- not great for a fast food experience. Went here for the first time last week and was happy to find this gem in Roslyn village. It was surprisingly crowded for a midweek lunch time, but worth the wait. We tried the lemon bars and they were absolutely delicious! I also purchased the apple crumb tart which was great as well. The crust had a lot of flavor and the apple filling was freshly made. Quaint and magnificent little pastry shop, known mostly to the locals and few Hamptons weekend dwellers, who stop to stock their picnic baskets. The pastries are made fresh every day, as are the cakes,bars, muffins, cookies, rolls and buns. They even have gift cookie platters and pound cakes. The lower level of the store features prepared food like avocado corn salad, beet salad, mesclun , assorted quiches, paninis, grilled salmon, and if I'm not mistaken sometimes they have thin crust pizza (might have been some artfully crafted dish, not sure). It really is one of the very few places I patronize regularly, everything there is simply delicious and Diane is always gracious to everyone. read more

The food in the back for lunch is overpriced and unappetizing the scraps of salmon all farm raised and chicken, tuna and turkey salad is average and you are paying 13.75 per lb for tuna ??? Come on this is overpriced garbage. The servers don't smile and it is another jail house food line you are waiting on.
