Have been here a few times. Have had delicious meals every time, from the pasta to desserts.
I had been looking forward to this dinner for a while. The place is so cute and the menu has some delicious looking dishes. The bread with whipped ricotta was the star of the meal. Fresh, hot and satisfying. The cocktails were average and my Hugo spritz was unimpressive. No fresh mint. Where are things really took a turn was on the steak Florentine. Not only did it take an exceptionally long time to reach our table, but it was completely overcooked. Very disappointing for the first time at this restaurant. The server noted he could replace it, but it would take a long time so he offered to comp us dessert which was appreciated. On a positive note, the Genovese alla Paccheri was tasty. If I were to try the restaurant again, I would probably get that dish. We took dessert to go. The tiramisu was solid. We also got a blackberry tart, which was probably the best thing and the Italian rainbow cookie, which was dry. As far as the interior of the restaurant, it is a really cute vibe. It was a hot and humid evening and all of the windows were open so the restaurant got quite hot so it was a bit uncomfortable. Parking was a challenge, but that's to be expected at the strip. We might give this spot another try, but I feel like there are so many better restaurants.
I can't comment on the venue yet, but their meatballs at Little Italy were great and a great size so that I didn't feel too bad about spending $12 on them. Their team members were positive to interact with. I did not get one, but their spritzes and drinks also looked very good. They succeeded at keeping their line moving efficiently at the busy Little Italy festival.
My first restaurant since moving to Pittsburgh! We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. We waited about an hour for our food which was kind of frustrating but they were absolutely slammed. Our server even brought us a second plate of bread and oil to make up for it (which we appreciated)! The food was worth the wait! Loved heirloom pasta and gnocchi w/ meatballs were delicious as well!! We also got tiramisu for dessert (not pictured) yeah, no. The mascarpone was dense and I believe they used cake instead of the ladyfingers. It genuinely pretty bad and I wouldn't get it again which sucked because tiramisu is my go to dessert (also pretty pricey for the portion we got). At that said, I will be back to try other dishes!
diAnoia's absolutely lived up to the hype! The restaurant was hopping, but the service was warm, attentive, and never missed a beat. The whipped ricotta with lemon and crostini was a perfect start, the butter bean salad with cucumber and tomato was unbelievably fresh and outstanding, and the Caprese panzanella was beautifully balanced with incredible seasonal flavor. You can taste the quality in every bite. We can't wait to come back!
Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience with our meal at DiAnoia's. Our waiter was very kind and attentive, although he did get sidetracked at times because of how busy the restaurant was. We could tell he was doing his best, so we have no complaints about him personally. The atmosphere is nice and definitely gives you that cozy Italian feel. Unfortunately, the food was a completely different story. I'm Italian, so I grew up around homemade Italian food and am very accustomed to having a really good red sauce. My relatives make an incredible red sauce, and I make my own as well, incorporating the Italian traditions and recipes that have been passed down through our family. Because DiAnoia's is family-owned and has such a strong Italian identity, I honestly expected their food, especially their red sauce, to have that same kind of homemade, flavorful quality. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. We ordered the $14 bread with olive oil, which was fine but didn't have much flavor. What also bothered me was that we noticed the table next to us was given complimentary bread and dipping oil, yet this was never offered to us. Since we had already ordered the $14 bread, it honestly felt like once they saw we were paying for bread, we didn't "deserve" the additional complimentary bread that other tables were receiving. I understand that we had already ordered bread, but it was still an odd experience to watch another table receive something complimentary that wasn't even mentioned or offered to us. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, which was especially disappointing because I had previously tried them at an Italian festival and absolutely loved them. That experience was actually what made me want to come to the restaurant and order them again. This time, the spaghetti was bland to the point of being almost inedible. The sauce tasted essentially like plain tomato soup with virtually no seasoning, herbs, garlic, or depth of flavor. It was so bland that I actually had to ask our waiter for herbs and salt just to try to make the dish taste like something. My husband's dish was no better. The beef itself was cooked well, but the pasta and sauce were again completely lacking in flavor. And that was probably the biggest disappointment for me. I'm not expecting every restaurant to make sauce exactly the way my family does, but I do expect a restaurant centered around Italian food to serve a sauce with some actual flavor and character. This sauce simply did not have it. For a restaurant with the reputation and price point that DiAnoia's has, I honestly expected much more. Italian food should be flavorful, and unfortunately, there was very little flavor in either of our meals. We spent nearly $70 for two entrées and bread, and I genuinely don't feel like we got $70 worth of food. At that price, I shouldn't have to ask for salt and herbs to make my dinner taste good. The service and atmosphere were pleasant, but at the end of the day, we go to a restaurant for the food, and unfortunately, the food was the part that missed the mark completely. I really wanted to love this place based on my previous experience with their meatballs, but after this dinner, I don't think we'd return.
Loved our lunch at DiAnoia's. The ambiance is inviting as soon as you enter: an attractive bar, cool casual artsy decor that calls to mind a bright Italian cafe; and plenty of seating options. For lunch you order at the deli counter, and there are so many excellent options to choose from (particularly pasta and sandwiches). Portions are very generous, so two people could easily share one sandwich, one pasta dish (but we happily ordered a couple so that we could try different things). Highly recommend the Italian sub and the veal Parmesan sandwich! Service was friendly and easy. Wish I lived in Pittsburgh or I would go back all the time!
Such a live restaurant! This place is always so busy and can be hard to get a reservation so if you plan to go do it early in advance! The staff were very polite! I tried the Gnocchi Sorrentina Bread Bowl and added the meatball! Lots of sauce and lots of cheese that's for sure! It was an interesting taste! I wipe say a bit overwhelming trying to figure out how to eat it! I would definitely go back here and would Probably want to try something different!
Heard this place had the best Italian in the city. It did not disappoint. My wife and I were seated on the second level, which I felt like removed us from the energetic and vibing atmosphere on the first level. But honestly, we didn't come for the atmosphere, we came for the food. The bread and oil was fresh. The gnocchis are huge giant pillows, but still go down light. The scampi was super flavorful. The tiramisu had great flavor. All the employees went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. We will look forward to coming here again!
Nice Italian eatery serving cookies, sandwiches l, pasta and coffees during brunch and a sit down during dinner. The pasta was fresh and tasted good, the sandwich and cheesecake even better.
The food here is the real deal. Dishes that you would never think would taste amazing based on their simplicity were the STAR of the show! Pasta with simple ingredients like tomatoes & basil was a top favorite. Soup with beans and Italian sausage was great. Everyone left here stuffed. The tiramisu and steak was just alright, but the atmosphere with the decor and small feel was beyond perfect to make you feel like you were in a little place in Italy.
Friday dinner here while in town for the weekend. I had originally made a reservation for 10 just in case the baseball game ran over, but received a call that earlier times had opened up. We moved the reservation to 9 and came there shortly before. To start, we ordered the bread and whipped ricotta, as well as the brussel sprouts. The bread was massive and the whipped ricotta was a nice touch. The brussel sprouts were also good - served with a sweet glaze and thick cubed pork belly. For my entree I ordered the gnocchi and meatballs which was incredibly large. The gnocchi were the size of rectangular pillowed donut holes. They almost were the same size as the meatballs. The sauce was also nicely seasoned and had a good flavor. I also added a half size of the cacio e Pepe. Easily one of the top 5 places I have had this dish. The sauce was perfectly flavored with pepper, plenty of sauce so it didn't stick to the pasta and become just a clumped mess - and the right size. For dessert I ordered the berry brown butter pastry. This was a perfect size and packed great flavor. Multi-leveled but still bright while being rich. I liked this place - can be loud, but they also have outdoor seating. My only wish would be that you could order pizza from Davide which is attached to the back of this location.
Located near The Strip and only a half block from the bus stop. Lovely two story with dining areas on both levels. Beautifully decorated to look like you are eating in Italy. Friendly servers. Nice wine selection with very decent prices. They give you fresh bread and a small plate of olive oil with balsamic drizzle to dip the bread. That was delicious. Would have been five stars except my Stuffed Shells were served slightly warm ish. But they tasted good. Would have been fabulous if it was served hot and fresh. Their homemade meatballs are good but a little too dense. We ordered a glass of Super Tuscan and a glass of Cab Sav. The Cab Sav was delicious. Ended the meal with tiramisu for my birthday. My friend had a reservation at 9 but the other person cancelled so I was a last minute sub! We showed up at 8 and asked if we could get seated early and they told us maybe. We went to coop for a drink first and then came back and were seated at about 8:45. We got the starting bread (don't know the name sorry) and it's extra $$ but totally worth it. We both got the ghocchi with meatballs. The portion size was perfect I ate my entire meal my friend took some of hers to go. Finished it off with tiramisu (not pictured). After coming here for the first time, I understand why it's so hard to get a reservation! This place is to die for, the best Italian food in Pittsburgh. We sat upstairs, which provides a nice, quiet setting, while downstairs is a bit louder in an open air room. Started with the fresh baked bread and added the whipped ricotta. Our bread seemed a little bit flatter than others, most had a bubble. The outside crust was airy while the interior had a browned bottom and crunch with the garlic olive oil on top. Mixed with the ricotta, this was the perfect app. Both pasta dishes were delicious, with the gnocchi being the favorite. Each were like clouds in your mouth, just melting when they hit your tongue. Paired with a hearty meatball and sauce, it was hard to stop eating. The veal cutlet was a great last second add on and worth every penny - crispy, flavorful and fresh. Make that reservation two weeks in advance! You won't regret it. read more

I wanted to like this place but wasn't impressed. Service was spotty. For a similar price point in Pgh you can have a better experience. Paper menus, rolled silverware in the middle of the table, non attentive service... If you ask for something that comes in multiple size- be very clear bc they will ring in the larger size. They do bring bread or are supposed to but we never got bread. Assumed the bread listed on the menu was what we were seeing at other tables, wrong. So we bought the bread but never got the focaccia looking bread. The massive piece of bread is odd to cut and share. Antipasto/charcuterie is served with no cutlery. Just the small things that add up. The server, continuing with the lack of attentiveness, messed up the tips on our split check so had to reach out to get that fixed. read more

It had been sooo long since I had been here for dinner! I finally got to try their fall special, the pumpkin gnocchi bowl! This was so extremely rich and cheesy- definitely easy to share for the table. After a few bites I was almost tapped out after indulging in their bread & oil and the Brussels and roasted cauliflower! Their desserts sell out quickly, so claim what you want asap! read more

I've been to DiAnoia's for dinner but I highly recommend it for lunch! A friend and I stopped in (and honestly I assumed it would be too crowded since it was a Saturday) but there were plenty of tables! You walk in, take a menu and order at the counter, take a table number and wait for your order there. My friend and I split a house salad, which was fresh and really flavorful. She got a lunch portion of the cacio e pepe and I got an eggplant parmesan panini -- everything was incredible. read more

I recently came back to DiAnoia's with a group of friends and had a great time! Our waiter was great and checked in often to make sure we were doing okay. We started with fresh bread and whipped ricotta and escarole, beans and sausage. You cannot go wrong with either of those! For my meal, it was recommended to me by a friend to get the pumpkin gnocchi and it did not disappoint! Those were some of the biggest gnocchis I've ever seen and the creamy pumpkin sauce was delicious! While I didn't eat the whole pumpkin, the roasted part on the inside was actually very good too! Stopped in for dinner at Di Anoia's and started off with a salad to share, which was delicious once it finally made its way to our table 30 mins after ordering. Between salad and entrees, we waited over an hour, making our stomachs think that dinner was over and preventing us from really enjoying our meal. I had the gnoochi in the bread bowl, and my girlfriend had the cacio e pepe. Both were tasty - the bread on the bread bowl was amazing - but the wait between apps and the entrée kind of ruined the experience for us as neither of us made much of a dent in the food. We also had plans set up for after that were delayed because of the two hour dinner experience. Not sure if things were slower because we were seated upstairs or if there was another reason, but it was pretty rough. read more

Dianoia's always lives up to the hype. The restaurant is in a really unique space. We were there on a cooler night and the garage doors were open so there was a nice breeze throughout. Been wanting to go to this restaurant for a few years n Pittsburgh is a little over an hour away. This was my "last" big meal before my gastric bypass surgery. My best friend n I both had gnocchi-mine in the bread bowl n she had hers with meatballs. They were so light n delicious! I made 3 meals out of mine! Her boyfriend had the oxtail rigatoni n he was quite pleased. My husband had the special buffalo chicken lasagna. We all tried a different dessert Everyone was quite pleased with their meals. DiAnoia's always hits the spot. From the food, drinks and atmosphere you're transported to Italy. The cocktails are fresh and most are made with Italian liqueurs. We had the bread with whipped ricotta. That is always a must for me. The seasonal heirloom tomato tripoline was divine. Super simple ingredients but amazing. Service was friendly and fast. omg this big cutie took me on a date MWAH MWAH but this place was yummy. Gnocchi is very potatoy and thick, honestly should split with someone so its not so dense and overwhelming. Meatballs were yummy. Lowk the best was the tiramisu and the peppers for appetizer and also the free bread. Came back for dinner after enjoying lunch here previously, and it didn't disappoint! I liked that they had several different mocktail options - I went with the orange spritz, which was refreshing and yummy! For food, we started with the fried artichokes, which were tasty and not too heavy. For my main, I went with the pasta primavera, which was flavorful with amazing (obviously homemade) pasta, though the dish as a whole was a bit on the heavier side (I was glad I chose one of my looser pairs of jeans for this dinner!) The space itself is bright and inviting, with a cheerful, upbeat atmosphere and friendly, attentive servers. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for some fresh pasta! read more

Visited for lunch on a recommendation before the Heinz museum, which was perfect for a quick choice with counter service. The menu had a great selection, as did the bakery cases near the cashier. Delicious and authentic Italian food in Pittsburgh. But of course! Pittsburgh has a great Italian population, so I'd expect nothing short of a meal that tasted like it came straight from a nanas kitchen. We when we first arrived, we were greeted right away. The vibe is more casual than I thought it'd be. The bar was centrally situated so it made for a great sound as cocktails were being shaken. I had a mocktail bc I wasn't feeling great. The service was great. We had crispy Brussels, short rib ragu, cassccere al funghi, some desserrs... all of it was yummy. I definitely want to go back to try more dishes. Kelly and I spilt a spaghetti and meatballs and a cacio e pepe. Meatballs were moist and flavorful and the red sauce is a simple San Marzano that allows the meatballs and pasta be the stars. The cacio e pepe sauce was rich and the black pepper cut through the creaminess allowing you to actually taste the fresh pasta. Every bite hit my tastebuds in the same order, creamy, pepper, pasta. An amazing dish! I prefer table service but here you order at the counter and they bring out to you when ready. The ordering and bar area are open to view the kitchen and it has a Tuscan motif. The dining area was a simple setup and you bus your own table when finished. Food is excellent, a little pricey, fitting for a more formal dining experience. read more

One day before grocery shopping in the Strip me and my gal friend stumbled in here without a reservation. We wanted great drinks and great pasta as we heard this place was delish. I went with the Cavolo Nero which was Spaghetti with Kale, Pesto, Roasted Garlic Chili Flakes, Burrata, and Pine Nuts. The pine nuts make this dish perfect because I love the crunch, Also the spicy rainbow carrots were everything! The people were friendly and the service was quick. It has taken me a long time to finally come here! I only came for breakfast so that's what my review will be. I got the French toast and was so delicious. The crust was very hard to cut though so we just ate from inside it (maybe that's the normal way?). Lots of pastries options! For breakfast you order at the counter then sit yourself which I actually liked. Pretty place inside. I'll be back for dinner one day! read more

Got lucky tonight with no reservation! They said 45 minute wait for 2 spots at the bar, then they had a cancellation so we were sat almost immediately. We both ordered the stuffed shells, but unfortunately they were nearly cold. We did send them back and the staff was very understanding. They sent us free house salads and our new dish was delish, no complaints! Fast service as well! read more

Had lunch here with some friends on a Saturday. Love the location at the north end of the strip where parking is a bit easier. We ordered quickly and grabbed a table in the dining room to eat. My meatballs and gnocchi were MASSIVE and delicious. I couldn't finish it and took half home for another meal. Would be nice if they had some creamy or pesto sauces for more variety though. read more

Wow! If you're familiar with the Pittsburgh food scene, you know DiAnoia's is pretty hyped. This was my first time going and it did not disappoint! I got the Heirloom Tomato pasta and added burrata per our waiter's recommendation - it was one of the best pasta dishes I have had in Pittsburgh! We also got the ricotta and bread as an app - absolute must-try. And, we finished off with the tiramisu which was phenomenal. My only complaint is that we dined upstairs and it had a bit of an odd smell - but it wasn't too terrible or anything. Next time I would try and get a reservation on the main level! read more
I'm not super versed in the Pittsburgh area, but I would absolutely recommend DiAnoia's to anyone visiting! The space feels very artsy, maybe even a little hipster but more modern and approachable. I was obsessed with the art on the wall that appeared to be for sale, love that. One caveat to the awesome environment is the main dining area can get pretty loud. The acoustics just carry throughout. Staff were all really great. I arrived a little before the rest of my party but they had no problem seating me. And our waitress gave great recommendations. We started with the whipped ricotta and bread. Super simple, but so delicious. The bread was topped with Parmesan. I decided to pick an after-dinner drink because they had limoncello and I couldn't pass up on it. It was a smaller drink, but it was strong so that was the perfect portion for me. For my entree I had the Shrimp Al Limone which was a huge portion with large shrimp and angel hair. And I couldn't pass up on dessert so I ordered the Panna Cotta which was the perfect end to my meal. read more

Some of the best Italian food I've ever had! We came here for a late, late dinner and they seated us within 10 minutes. They are kid friendly. We ordered the gnocchi and the spaghetti which we shared with our kid. I ordered an amaro flight. We ordered desserts to-go. Our server was great! Very helpful and kind. The space is very cute. Great decor. Parking can be tricky because it's in the Strip District. read more
