Chicken Cutlet with prosciutto and provolone on a bulkie from DiCaras Deli

We LOVE DiCaras Deli! This is one of our Friday night staples for dinner. I pick it up on the way home, do a little shopping in the store, and I can always get in and out quickly. I'm disappointed to see this negative and angry "fake Italian" post. This is not true. I've never had this issue and maybe someone was having a bad day. We also love their calzones and platters for events! Check this place out.

seems to be a hobby type restaurant ownership; high prices, small portions, management-friendly hours of operation..

The smell of fresh bread and great cold cuts brought me back to the first time I had an Italian Sub as a kid.

So I get a large Chip's Tip sub and a few pastries for snacks. The bill was steep for what I got but I thought it would be worth it for my son to try the sub. After getting it, we split the sub and ate it in the car. Let me tell you that this was not the same steak tip I remembered. It was so bad, we tossed it in the garbage at the gas station next door. The steak was very tough and hard to chew - almost like the tips had been cooked earlier and then reheated for my order. Everything just seemed greasy. We also did not enjoy the raspberry turnover or yellow cream cannoli's we got for dessert. Maybe it was us or maybe it was the food but I will never go there again. We are not food snobs by any stretch of the imagination, and I rarely will say anything bad about a restaurant experience but we ended up going to Augusta's which is just a little bit down the road, for chicken just to erase this experience from our mouths. I know a lot of people will swear by their steak tip subs and that is great but it's just not for me anymore.

But once I took a bite all the negative vibes went away. The flavor was amazing. You could taste every ingredient. The basil was so fresh and the prosciutto so thin, almost perfection. I also grabbed a slice of bakery pizza, and I think it might be the best slice I ever got from them. This place is always great.

The corned beef is large chunks, not small diced pieces found in most commercial and canned hash. The potatoes, peppers, and onions gave a nice texture and flavor. I had it topped with two over medium eggs which were perfectly cooked. As I was eyeing the French toast, he gave me a single piece which included their fruit infused whipped cream and was really, really good! That might be my entree next time. My friend got the crepes and her face was doing happy expressions while she was eating. My new best friend Maria kept my coffee mug full-she visited the table frequently to make sure my mug never got low nor cold. She also took care to clean the table promptly as plates were finished. Now if my kids could learn that... oh wait, this is a diner review. The ambiance is cute and chic. There was easy access to accommodate wheel chairs and they have their menu clearly marked for gluten free available and vegan options (most of the menu). The menu is on the fancier side; they will prepare whatever someone wants (e.g. if someone just wants 2 eggs and bacon, they can easily do that). The location is on Main St. so parking is hit or miss. If you are nearby and want something good, this is a good option!

I did have to trim off a tiny bit of silverskin off the outside of one of the steaks, but that's generally a good sign that they cut the meat in house. There were five folks behind the counter to help get things out of the case, so that was easy and fast. We also got some local-made roasted pork buns in the frozen area made by Dumpling Daughter, which were also a nice treat. Will probably be back. Would recommend this place if you want locally butchered meat.
