We've been coming to Dick's since we were just tourists visiting Palm Springs. Now that we live here, we've become regulars. I can honestly say that many of the negative comments seem more likely to come from competitors or people with an agenda than from actual patrons. We love the DJs, the drinks, and the overall atmosphere. The staff and customers are kind, approachable, and respectful. I have been in there before, but then we went to the bar and tried to come back in and there was a really old bouncer named Drew that told us we couldn't come back in because we've been inside another bar, the entire time when we were in there before they were extremely rude. My hands down favorite place to visit when not In LA. My husband and I discovered dicks in 2024 during Christmas. Damian our bartender made us feel extremely welcome, like as if we were locals. The prices are low and realistic, the clients are die hard locals that add to the charm. We have been back serval times hoping to see Damian, but he does get days off. Cool bar on Arenas Rd mixed in with a lot of great business. Eagle of Palm Springs unfortunately is no more and has rebranded as Dick's on Arenas, more streamline, yet still with it's dive bar mystique as one of few in DTPS. A predominantly lgbtq+ male bar with drinks that are okay enough, a bit watered down compared to places like the Tool Shed or Hunters in the area. Though the bartenders are polite and personable with great personalities. Had a good time hanging out on the patio with benches and railing, but ordering a drink took a lot longer than expected with such narrow space inside the bar itself. Their website is still active, possibly to help with the transition, but all their social media is inactive or deactivated for the Eagle 501. It's a fun place to take a beat if out and about in Downtown. They play good music and are all inclusive and ended up being a spot where I met up with a lot of friends in the area as it wasn't as congested or as line entrance heavy as some other places get nearby. Just had a terrible experience with Terry the bar back or security. He was incredibly rude to both my friend and I. We stopped into the bar at 1AM for drinks. At 1:27 he told us it was last call. It was then around 1:46 and yelling with an aggressive tone demanded we "leave now" when he could have asked politely. Yes I kept track of times. Me and my group of friends (who are all lesbians) were literally walking across the street and were yelled at from a distance "We don't want you here!" while minding our own business as a female group. We still wanted to check it out and share that we were actually a part of the gay community but instead were completed rejected to being let inside by the bouncer, just because the patrons were continuing with their rude and sexist comments. The outdoor patio is a prime location for enjoying drinks with friends and people watching. Indoors, the decor is the same, but comfortable with benches along one wall. Also indoors, the sound system is great. On weekends they have excellent DJs who know how to create a good time. Friday nights have bar specials for cocktails and beers. Their wine list has single-serve bottles (like the airlines). Eminently drinkable by those us who are watching our carbs (lol). Note: The first well for ordering is immediately in front of you when you enter. This well gets a line. Stepping to the back well often finds shorter lines. read more

My best friend who is also a nurse came in to just relax and catch up since we haven't talked in months..... Not greeted well. We don't expect much. We pulled out our COVID vaccine cards....it's mandated for us to be vaccinated....the bartender said it was fake and turned us away......we said we are nurses and they said it's fake. It's stapled. They had no problem accepting my CDPH QR verification and ID.
