I took my vehicle in for a squeaky belt and asked them to look at it and let me know if it was the belt or bearings going out on the pulleys. They did a diagnostics on it ($90) and came back with a list of several things that needed to be done including brakes, rotors, and spark plugs. In fairness, they did find a cracked front drive boot that required repair. All in, the estimate was well over $1000 including $450 to replace front brakes and rotors. I had them replace the belt and the front drive but, I told them I'd replace my brakes myself (bought the parts online for $200). When I picked up my vehicle, my anti-lock brakes began to trigger at the first stop I came to. I took it back and the next morning they put it up on their diagnostics machine and said it was the ABS sensor on the opposite side of the front end (not on the side they worked on). To replace the sensor was another $375 ‍. I looked online and saw I could replace the sensor myself and the part was $165 at AutoZone. I'm not an overly mechanical person when it comes to vehicles. I've never replaced brakes, or rotors or ABS sensors. I bought 2 new new ABS sensors (one for each front wheels). I went home with my vehicle and did the work myself in about 4 hours (YouTube). $1,200 worth of work for $500. Each sensor took about 20 minutes to replace (their estimate showed a 1 hr job at $100 hr.) On a side note, early on, I asked how much wear was left on my brake pads and I never got an answer. I wish I would have been told. When I swapped them out, I showed them to a friend who is very mechanical (has done brakes multiple times) and said there was plenty of wear on them. Part of me feels like they we're running up the bill on me. We're they? I know they have expenses too but, it's hard for me to understand how getting anything done is $300 and up for each job. read more

Had a very efficient and smooth experience getting multiple punctures plugged in 2 different tires. I've had multiple shops try to repair my leaky tire and no one had been successful in finding the punctures. They also took note of my faulty tire pressure sensor. Would definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for thorough work and honest prices! read more

They failed in fixing my vehicle's problem, although I paid them very well to do so. I was told the mechanic may have missed something and that they would gladly look at it again, but for more money. They gave me another estimate, which was more than the first. I ended up taking my vehicle elsewhere to get the problem resolved at an estimate lower than either of Dickerson's. Dickerson did not stand behind their work and I will not be returning. I paid them in full for an exchange of nothing but frustration. read more

I live in Williamsburg, Virginia and was on my way to Charlotte, NC for the weekend and on the way noticed that my battery voltage gauge was going dropping, the alternator had stopped working, and I was 5 miles from the nearest exit. Luckily my parents were following and are AAA members. They got us a tow to the next exit where there was a AAA repair center, which happened to be Dickerson's. Of course it was after business hours on a Friday and they wouldn't be open until Monday. I called the number for the business and they said if it was an emergency to call this other number. I did, and Jason answered and I told him my problem. I had all but changed the alternator out on the side of the road, but one bolt was so stubborn that I couldn't remove it with loaned tools from the parts store. Jason told me to wait and he would call me back. I waited for a bit and got a call back and he said he was at dinner, but that he would come and finish the job for me as soon as he was done. In the meantime he made a few calls to some of his other mechanics and Mark ended up beating him to the shop. They opened up the shop just for me, replaced my alternator at 7:30PM and were not only good at their job, but extremely courteous. I don't live in the area, but if I did, Dickerson's would absolutely be my go to shop.
