Ordered through the app. Ordered curbside pickup, which is an option on the app. Go to pick up, no one seems to understand I'm calling from curbside to pick up because the check in button shut the app down, so I'm calling to let them know I'm there to pick up. They bring out my order, missing drinks. As they get the drinks I discover the 2 cold sides are missing. I tell the gal and she goes back in and then brings out one. I point out the other on the receipt. She takes the receipt, goes back in. A few minutes later she comes out with the second cold side and mentions the guy working inside is getting grumpy over this. I say too bad, the order wasn't right. I get home and I'm also missing the pickles and onions and the Texas toast. I call and get told they don't do curbside anymore, so that's corporates problem, and they don't do Texas toast anymore. They couldn't tell me this earlier? So I just paid for something they don't have and there is absolutely zero mention, or a replacement. As for the pickles and onions, he saw her pack them. That's nice, but they didn't make it in the order. Maybe they were left back with the missing cold sides. I'm going to Chili's from now on for my BBQ plate. It's closer, they know how to do curbside orders, and no grumpy attitude and hassle. If features on the app aren't available at the restaurant, they need to fix that instead of giving customers attitude about it. I feel sorry for the poor gal that brought the order. She was nice. Greeted my everyone when we walked in with a big welcome to Dichies!! Food was awsome! Only thing that could be done to make a bbq joint better would be for it to have Mac and cheese on the menu. Just got home with dinner from Dickey's. I like that Sunday kid's eat free, that being said I would much rather pay full price and leave out the complimentary hair that was in our baked potato cassarole side. We have been eating there since it has opened and the service is as slow as always along with the small portions for the prices, but we liked the taste. After tonight, we are done. read more

Me and my girlfriend decided to come here for dinner instead of famous Dave's. it was slightly unfriendly place to eat but the food was excellent. We shared a 1 meat platter of beef brisket with fried okra and there onion tangles it was everything you could have asked except what kind of meal doesn't come with a drink? I had to buy a small because it wasn't included in my $11 one meat combo . Oh dear Lord, no. No. No. No. All a country girl wants when she comes back home from a place as metropolitan as Honolulu is a little BBQ to remind her of why some things are better in small towns. Er, that is unless you foolishly expect a place like this to fulfill that little girl's wish, because.........it did not. At all. Like, not even close. The atmosphere inside is generally nice, all western and cowboy-ish, and the people are very helpful and small town kind, so don't get me wrong, that's on the mark. But it was the food that ruined my idealization of what this place ~could~ have been. I ordered a hoagie with beef brisket and pulled pork with a side of fried okra and a cup of their sweet tea. It all sounded perfect, and since the smell of the BBQ was mouthwatering, it seemed so delectable! I received my sandwich in good time and sat down to devour. I poured some of their original BBQ sauce into a little cup and doused that over the meat before digging in, but to no avail! The bun overpowered the entire sandwich (hello, where's the taste of that meat?!) and the thickness and dry texture of the loaf took away entirely from what might have been a tasty sandwich. No, this was to be devastating. I ended up taking off the top bun on the sandwich and eating my hoagie "open-face" style, pouring more sauce hoping to taste a little home-town BBQ. Ahhhh, the disappointment... (Insert massive sad face with a tear here.) The only thing that rescued that meal for me was the fried okra, which was perfectly yummy! I actually enjoyed those little poppers and thankfully they nearly filled up the hungry space that my abandoned hoagie had left so depressingly unsatisfied. Will I be coming back? Dear God, NO!! I think I'll stick to my already known favorite spots and maybe even the Reno Rib Cook-off! read more

I live fairly close to this Dickey's, and every once in a while I walk over for a barbecue sandwich. Sadly, it seems like the owner doesn't care what franchise he's bought. No more free pickle bucket. No ice cream cones near the machine. I heard a customer ask where the pickles were and he was told it was in the back because people were sticking their hands in it - which makes sense, except you're Dickey's. Free pickle bucket is in the job description. The employees seem sour and frustrated, and act like it's a chore to be helping you, and it takes way too long for them to acknowledge that you're there and waiting to order (and I only had one customer in front of me). I'd love to say this was a one-time experience for me, but as I live fairly close it's been basically the same poor quality of service the last five or so times I've been, and the food is a little overpriced for how dry it is. My wife and I dropped in Sunday night and ordered the 2 meat plate that comes with 2 sides We both ordered the beef brisket and dry rubbed ribs with sides of cole slaw, mac and cheese, waffle fries and like any good BBQ Aficionado fried Okra is always a must. The roll that came with the order was fresh and good tasting depending how much brisket you order the roll with the brisket and a mixture of all three BBQ sauces hit the spot. The food was very good,It was hot and cooked right. I can't wait to get back and try the other meats and sides on their menu. The employees were very busy yet still polite and pleasent to be around. We enjoyed talking with the Asst. manager, the dining area is a little small but it looks like there was a lot of take out being ordered so we were able to find a table and just enjoy the BBQ. This restaurant really puts the "DICK" in "DICKEYS." Every time I come in this place I am greeted my scowls and pissed off looks. Sure, the food is good - when they remember to give you a full cup of the BBQ sauce - but I just don't know if it's worth watching my boyfriend being called a jerk for accidentally saying turkey instead of chicken when he was ordering for me. A strange little joint... Good food and friendly enough service, but a bit overpriced for the portion sizes... We paid $25 (including $3 tip) for two tiny pulled pork sandwiches with 2 small sides and 2 little baby sodas... For that kind of cash, I want to leave with a box of leftovers. They have "specials", but the day we went the special was ribs, and I didn't want ribs. Also, the ordering process was a little confusing for me, a first time visitor; for instance, nowhere on the poorly organised overhead menu does it say "pulled pork sandwich". I had to ask if they had them... They did, and they were really tasty. We ordered the small size sandwiches (because we couldn't afford the bigger ones) and they were indeed small. The sides were good too (coleslaw and waffle-cut fries), but the iced tea dispenser was empty, they were completely out of poultry for some reason, (the guy shouted that piece of information at us as soon as we walked in), and no one told us about the free ice cream... I'll give this place another try; next time I will be expecting to drop a healthy chunk of change... it will have to be a once in a while treat for us... If they had a combo meal deal that included a drink for less than $10, I'd eat there often. read more

I was a little skeptical going here at first but my wife insisted, im glad she did this is one of the best bbq joints in the carson/ Reno area. She loves the brisket, and the ribs are really good. I think my favorite is the sausage , its so tender and great tasting. We also loved their loaded mashed potato. Also this is one of the few places besides popeyes that actually has southern style sweet T. If you go on Sundays kids eat free but get there early, ribs go fast and they usaully run out . The place is kinda small but thats not a real factor for me. Also you get free ice cream with every meal. read more

I visited Dickey's this past weekend. Paid $35.00 for two adult, 2-item plates, 1 child's meal and 2 small sodas. I thought the flavor was pretty good, but wasn't all that impressed with the amount of meat. We had the brisket and smoked turkey, with sides of baked potato casserole, mac and cheese, cole slaw. The free, soft-serve ice cream was, as another reviewer portrayed, runny and tasted like goopy marshmallow topping in a cone. Icky. They need to fix that. I'm honestly not sure I will go back, as I feel that for the price, Chili's in Carson City actually has better quality BBQ, nicer atmosphere and I would pay about the same price. read more

I have done everything in the food service industry from dish washing to managing and everything in between. With this being said, I can understand the slow slow slow service of a place like this opening due to people studying the menu, employees still getting into the groove of things and long line because of the new restaurant novelty. So in no way is the slow service reflected in my low 2 star rating. The low rating comes from the price. $7 for a sandwich that is 2 maybe 2.5 inches wide, about 6 or 7 inches long and only has about 1/2 inch of meat on it is INSANE!! Oh, did I mention that the sandwich is all you get for that price!!! No side, no drink, nothing but sandwich. A side is gong to cost you another $2 and only has about 4-5 bites of food in it. Can't remember how much the soda was, but don't get fooled by the BIG YELLOW CUP advertising they have all over the place. The cups are only 16 ounces. Roughly translated (depending on how much ice you put in your cup)..... it will hold a can of soda. For about the same price i can go to Q's BBQ and get a Tri-Tip sandwich (twice the size and 3 times the meat) which comes with a large helping of fries and a side order soda (twice the size). Not to mention that Tri-Tip is a more expensive cut of meat. The food did taste very good and have no complaints there. I just don't feel that it was good enough for such a high price. Will I go back again......... yes, but it might only be a twice a year maximum visit for me unless they either lower their prices or greatly improve on portion size to match the current price. Oh one more thing is that there is no table side service which lowers the justification for the price even more. It's fast food style counter service. If the meal had only come out to around $9 (including tax) it would be a decent deal and I would go back much more because the food is good. read more

Most business's cater to their customers, or so I thought. My husband and I have been to Dickey's several times with no complaints. But it just takes one bad experience to lose a customer. My husband ordered a sandwich that tasted like something had gone bad in the sandwich (it had coleslaw on the sandwich) He took the sandwich back to the counter to tell them his concern and asked for something else. They said there was nothing wrong with the sandwich and he could order something else but would have to pay extra. We are not the kind of people who complain unless there is a legitimate reason. He asked to speak to the manager and was treated very unfairly. We didn't make a scene, just left and will not return. It's too bad that happened because as a result that is now our impression of a place we used to frequent fairly regularly. We have shared our experience with at least 10 people, so I hope a $5.00 sandwich was worth losing customers. read more
