Well, I don't know much about Texas barbecue. That's a fact. But as a first venture into the sweet and saucy world of barbecue, I'm glad I stumbled upon Dickey's. I had a 2-meat plate, choosing brisket and ribs. Juicy, saucy, tasty. What more could one ask for? And the spicy bbq sauce at the condiment counter was definitely a fav or mine. Super friendly staff. I walked in at 1-minute to closing but they welcomed me to stay as long as I needed to eat my meal. Was starved after a day of traveling and was glad to be greeted warmly. On a quest to try as many different BBQ places as I can while in the area and decided to give this Dickey's location a try for lunch. The parking lot was pretty full and I could smell the smoke as soon as I opened the car door, two good signs. You order you meat(s) up front. The sides and drinks are self serve along the line as you make your way around to the cashier. Past the cashier is the condiment bar with all the fixings, sauces and their free soft serve ice cream. I had the slice beef sandwich w/ no sauce (order it this way so you can taste the meat and you can add the sauce later) BBQ beans, baked potato casserole and a big yellow cup of sweet tea for $11 bucks. The beef was definitely smoked, had a really good flavor and very tender with little fat. The sauces were pretty average, I tried all three (hot, regular and sweet) and was pretty satisfied with a mix of the hot and sweet. The bbq beans were nothing to write home about, I think I would have rather had the green beans. What they had labeled as baked potato casserole looked more like creamy mashed potatoes but I like creamy mashed potatoes and these had plenty of butter, bacon and chives and were very good. For a California kid, this was exactly what I wanted in Barbecue; spicy, tender and so smokey! I was here at the tail end of a trip, and it was a sad occasion. Still, I'll be objective: The brisket and pulled pork that I had were both great, though I could have done with just one or the other. Portions are definitely Texas sized, and with the sides and bread I didn't need any more. Their fried okra bits were so good I kept stealing them from my girlfriend's plate. I am not a resident of Texas, so I looked around for a local bbq restaurant and found Dickey's Barbecue Pit. I am not disappointed as the ribs were super meaty, the pulled pork moist, the sides were tasty, and the sauces were a perfect addition. I always knew that Dickey's was good. But now I think it is even great and surpasses in customer service! A new place opened up in Coppell down the street. I tried a few times to get an order to go just to try it. I got "Sorry-we are short on help-it will be 40 minutes for a pound of turkey"-etc.....something all the time. It makes me tired. I just went back to where I should have been in the first place-DIckey's. THey have catered for me several times and my clients use them. They go out of their way to make sure you have what you need at a reasonable price. Shane,the manager is always on top of things.I appreciate the customer service that is so rare these days. This Dickie's is completely different from any other I have been to. And I've been to several, including the original off HWY 75. This Dickie's is fantastic. Other Dickie's skimp on the meat and make sure they don't give you much in the way of sides. This one gives you a bunch. The meat is WAY better than at most dickies, fresh and well smoked. If you've been to other dickies you probably wonder how they got popular enough to become a chain, and this place shows you what they could be. That being said I don't get the brisket here cause it tends to be drier/leaner than I like. We refuse to go the dickies in other cities because of bad experiences, but we come here 1-2 times per month. We also really like Hard Eight just up the road, but they are much more expensive. We can feed our family of 5 for less than $20 with the Sunday kids deal, and we are usually pushing 40 at Hard Eight. read more

The food was decent. Brisket sandwich was good and the chicken breast was phenomenal. Green beans were just a bit overcooked and the potato salad was whipped almost smooth and they overdid it with mustard. However, in this time where we are combating COVID-19, trying our best to reduce the spread of the virus, and limit unnecessary contact, this Dickey's FAILS! First, of the three people I saw working in the restaurant, only one was wearing gloves. That was the person working putting food in the containers. However, the container was then touched by two others without gloves before ending up in my hands. Even more egregious, there is no legal requirement that credit card receipts have to be signed. However, this Dickey's gives you the receipt with a pen that has been touched by who knows how many former customers and employees. They ask you to sign the receipt. I asked the person at the window why that is and he said that he thought it had mostly to do with soliciting a tip. This is entirely irresponsible and frankly it is DANGEROUS! If you want to solicit some extra support for your restaurant and staff at this time, put a notice on the drive thru window that asks patrons to consider adding a couple dollars to keep things going during this public health crisis. The drive-thru person can then ask "Would you like to add a donation to your order to help us keep our restaurant and staff going during this difficult time?" Beyond that, if you don't get a tip, you don't. Most people understand what's going on and, like me, will give a couple extra bucks. But for crying out loud, put some gloves on, change them regularly, and reduce employee to container and employee to customer contact to a minimum. Be smart and be a good community neighbor. I ordered the #4 Westerner with 2 sides, no cheese just pull pork and chopped brisket, coleslaw and fried okra Saturday night. I arrive home to enjoy my dinner, opened my sandwich it was sliced sausage and turkey with cheese, the okra was fried to fast, some of he pieces were still cold in the middle. Called the restaurant, the young lady that answered stated they were now closed and the food had been put away, she took my name so I my stop by for a meal replacement. Round 2.. I returned yesterday Tuesday September 22, 2015 re-ordered the #4 Westerner with 2 sides, I asked for the pull pork and chopped brisket no cheese, coleslaw and waffle fries. Drive home open by sandwich it was all dry chopped brisket, no pull pork, the fries were over cooked some were actually burnt....2 strikes you are out! I do not know if all Dickey's locations are like this one, but I will never know, the Coppell location has ruined it for all locations for me! read more

I picked up food from the Coppell location 3.20.18. The food was great! The whole family of very picky eaters loved it. The pulled pork was a favorite for sure! Brisket was good too. We go to this Dickey's about once a month. We always use the BOGO coupon from the "door hanger" coupon sets that are left on our door. The same people have been working at this Dickeys for years; they're always friendly and give generous portions. We usually get turkey, ham, beef, or sausage plates, and they're all equally good. The sides are fine, as are the rolls. Our kids love going to Dickeys because of the Mac and Cheese sides and free soft serve cones. This Dickeys doesn't serve alcohol, and allows BYOB. read more

We received a BOGO coupon when we moved to Coppell. We waited a few months to use it but tonight we decided to. I've been to Dickey's BBQ in Fort Worth before but that was about 3 years ago. I can't recall how it was then though. I got the sliced beef and my wife got the pulled pork plate. The sides are choose your own and as much as you can get on the plate (I guess...). I got mashed potatoes and fried okra. I'm not going to lie...I took a heaping plate full of both. The beef was really wet and mooshy and not good at all. The sauce was pretty good. The fried okra was awesome and the potatoes were pretty good too. The roll was probably the best part of the meal. Overall it wasn't that good and I doubt I'll be going back unless I get another BOGO coupon. Price was $8.79 for sliced beef, 2 sides, roll, and a glass of water. read more

My wife and I wanted a local place to relax and have some MEAT. Dickey's employees were polite not overly friendly. The meat was good for both of us. They used to offer multiple rolls but don't seem to anymore. The fries were cold. The fried okra was warm. We will eat there again. read more

Visiting in Coppell from Sherman Oaks, CA, wanted some barbeque! Stopped in at Dickey's Barbeque Pit. I was told that this is the place to go for the best BQ in Texas. (1) The smell of the meat was nauseating, ribbs, pork and beef asked for order to be replaced! No change in taste or smell of meat being spoiled! Paid the very over priced tab and left with the remains. After placing meet in the frig for several hours, hunger set in and open the frig to try the BQ again, the strange odor was stronger. Why Dickeys Coppell is terrible! I've order no less than three times online and it's never ready when I get there though I showed up when they suggested. However tonight I decide to ditch online ordering, go through the drive through and order 1lb of brisket, 1lb of sausage, 1 medium potato salad and 1 medium Mac and cheese. $43.26. I got exactly what I ordered and a "medium" sauce. I get home and I go online and a "family pack" is; "Family Pack (serves 4-6) ($44.95) Choice of two meats (1 lb each) with 3 home style medium sides, 6 rolls & barbecue sauce." So for a $1.26 I missed out on 6 rolls and entire other side. My guess is their people could have moved me up to the "family pack" but chose not to. I have eaten in several Dickey's over the years and this one is by far the best. The food is tasty, great prices, and plenty of food. When you see the same workers year after year, that is normally a good sign. They are friendly. I usually eat there once a week and, most of the time, eat heathly. read more
