    Specials as of November 2024

Recently the Sunday special was chicken and dumplings. Now it's a vegetable platter. If you are looking forward to a discounted meal, consider calling on the phone to check what special is available that day.

Cotton Patch Cafe is known for their chicken fried steak. Most everybody who doesn't have something against chain restaurants will tell you that Cotton Patch is the place to go for consistently good chicken fried steak. I just enjoyed my dinner at Cotton Patch and if they had an appreciation bell, I would have rang it. The fresh rolls are warm and soft. They don't need butter, but it's there. These rolls are irresponsible. The entre (with 2 sides) arrived soon and it was an eyeful. Fortunately, the plate was big because the chicken fried steak barely fit. The steak was properly tenderized and a thick, crispy breading that was perfectly cooked. It came out piping hot with a good amount of creamy gravy. Nicely seasoned, too. I didn't have any empty breading that you sometimes get when the steak mysteriously shrinks away from the edges. The mashed potatoes were real, with garlic and pepper. Topped with more of that creamy gravy. Very nice. In the south, they say you can't overcook green beans but these came pretty close to it. I would have preferred them a little less done, but they were tasty with a little bacon added. A big thank you to Abigail M. who greeted, seated and served us so well. Abigail, you made our dinner delightful. I hope to see you again. One last tbing; There was a sign on the table that informed us of a 5% COVID surcharge for dine-in customers. Was that to cover the cost of disinfectant for the tables and face masks for employees? It didn't look like there was anything special being done to clean up between diners (and apparently no wiping down the salt and pepper grinders that we share). I now see that it states that the surcharge is due to the effect of the pandemic on food prices. It was obvious that this Cotton Patch location was doing much more business in take-out orders than dine-in. I wonder why the take-out customers weren't helping to carry the burden of the (hopefully) temporary food price spike?

I introduced my husband here for his first. I was hoping that they going to be all that i tried to explain to him, and he was very happy with his meal.

DFW is massive. My friend was 30 mins late, but I wasn't trippin. I used that time to charge my phone and get a little work done. We didn't have a resy, but were seated right away. First of all, this place is massive. We both started with the espresso martini before realizing they had a happy hour menu. Our second drink was from the hh menu even though we had no business having a second cocktail. To start, we shared the fried green tomatoes. For whatever reason, we both ended up getting the western burger. Food was great. There was so much of it that I was only able to finish half and ended up taking the rest home. Great service as well. The place was crowded by the time we left. We only planned to stay for 45 minutes, but ended up staying for nearly 2 hours. Big thanks to the bartender. I went back to the airport a little tipsy after 2 drinks.

Clearly a popular spot. We shared an appetizer, a steak, sides, and a dessert between us 3. - Fried Tomatoes (appetizer): not bad! Light, not greasy at all, and that savory sauce on top was yummy: - Wagyu Tomahawk: the star of the show. Loved the peppered crust which was full of flavor. Not a true "Japanese wagyu" texture, but still an excellent steak overall. - Sides (mashed potatoes, fries, broccolini, cornbread): All pretty good across the board. I liked the cornbread the most and wished there was more of it. Usually a side of cornbread is much more substantial and comes with honey butter. - Steak sauce: we ask for a side of this. Whatever they had was unique and great. Fruity and tangy, a great complement to the tomahawk. - Pecan Pie: look at the photo! A huge, tall slice. No notes. Loved the dense ice cream on top. Perfect way to end the meal. Overall: no critiques, just an all-around great dinner. Definitely recommend the tomahawk and pie.

We had seen the place on Yelp and planned to grab something quick to go, but it turned into a great stop. The location is fantastic and convenient near the airport. The hostess was welcoming right away and directed us to the bar so we could place a quick to-go order. At the bar, the bartender gave excellent service and convinced us to try a couple of tacos along with the yuca fries and plantains we originally planned to order--and I'm glad he did. The Tacos Al Carbón were outstanding: grilled fajita beef with sautéed poblano and onion on flour tortillas topped with pico de gallo and guacamole. The steak was tender and full of flavor. The beans and rice were just right, and the plantains with coconut sauce were a perfect addition. The bartender also recommended a Stone Delicious IPA, which made the short wait enjoyable. We grabbed a Tamarindo agua fresca and bolitas de yuca for the road--light, flavorful, and perfect for the drive. Great food, great service, and a great find near the airport. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Tupelo Honey is a stand-alone restaurant conveniently located near Hwy 114 and 161. There's plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and a mixture of tables, booths, and bar seating. Speaking of the bar, it acts as a beautiful backdrop for the entire restaurant. 1 Star. Service - The service is always friendly. Our server is always smiling, and I can't help but feel welcome with southern charm. Tupelo Honey trains its staff well, and I really enjoy coming here and interacting with the staff. 1 Star. Food - I always begin with the Biscuits with a Cause. These light, flakey biscuits are served warm with a crispy exterior and soft, flakey inside. But honestly, the biscuits act as a delivery mechanism for the butter and blue berry jam. I always ask for an extra side of butter and jam because I use it all. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Honey Dusted Fried Chicken (dark). The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy, and sweet. And the dark meat was juicy. Pro Tips - use your hands. Another great dish was experienced. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I have yet to have a below average dish at Tupelo Honey. Yes, it's a chain. But it's also a darn good chain that keeps its menu fresh and is worth multiple visits. 1 Star.
