Y'all lost a regular customer today. After smoking bobs on republic road closed down I started going to this location thinking south side bbq gotta be good. I can't even say it's decent. I've had one good experience when I went inside and sat down to eat. The food was fresh and my brisket wasn't as dry. That being said every time I've been through the drive thru I've got half a** service and a new worker every time. Last time my brisket was so dry I didn't even eat it. My family and I were getting together for a big family dinner on Friday night at my house . My Dad and my brother spent $125 on pork ribs, and shredded pork with buns and fries Etc. They take it to my home and my brother realizes that they forgot the buns for the pork sandwiches. This was a very big inconvenience to our dinner. My brother went back and kindly said they had forgotten to put in the buns (he had to drive 15 min there and back to get them). The person was very rude and unapologetic. He gave the buns back with a scowl on his face and acted like my brother was an inconvenience from their own mistake. Not apologizing is very poor customer service. Fantastic Food, I had read the previous reviews and was extremely skeptical of trying this place, but I'm so happy I ignored the previous reviews. All my food was succulent and juicy just as great bbq should be. I had the pulled pork, Jalapeño Sausage and Chopped Brisket family meal all properly seasoned tender and delicious. The food was very small pre wrapped pulled ' pork'?? Supposed to have been but was full of fat and gristle and skin just nasty I should have stopped at the first bite wish I had ! The sides were baked beans and fried okra we got probably pork and beans dry cold the okra tough and soggy greasy. I would not recommend this place to anyone else. I was sick sitting on the toilet until 5 am!!! Two days later still nauseous. Most like food poisoning from the pre wrapped and cold food. Stopped in today, in a corner almost hidden from view. We are familiar with this chain , have gone many times at Fort Leonard Wood. My wife and I shared a rack of ribs , very good. My wife had side of beans and cold slaw, tasty snd I had cold slaw and French fries. Only complaint was the French fries, the clerk said corporate requires them be blanched before frying. Brisket looked nice but was dry as heck, without sauce could not swallow it, not sure how old it was. The burnt ends were juicy but super salty, needed tons of sauce to drown the flavor. Hadn't had Dickey's in a few years and realized they delivered on door dash. Big mistake! I ordered a BAKED potato and they gave me mashed potatoes??? I also ordered BBQ sauce and a roll that I did not receive. My husband ordered a 3 meat plate and all 3 meats were dry. Pulled pork, brisket & sausage. His mac and cheese was hard and cold and the bbq beans tasted like water beans. Normally I would have an issue with door dash but with Covid I know they are not allowed to check the food so they have to rely on the restaurant to get the order correct and unfortunately for them, they failed. I have never been disappointed at Dickey's! The staff is genuinely kind and upbeat as can be and the food is phenomenal. They definitely know customer service and how to make some amazing BBQ! I honestly can't say I have ever had a bad experience there. Not only is the staff friendly, but the food is friendly too. This is one of the rare establishments where I can finish my entire meal and not feel sick to my stomach. I think it's because they don't put a bunch of additives in the meat, such as nitrites, MSG, or preservatives. I can feel the difference. I heard about this place from a friend of mine so I took a couple of blokes from work to check it out. I had the two meat plate with pulled pork, and brisket. Sides were fried okra and mac-n-cheese. Service was nice but when we went to go find a seat the first table we picked had ants all over the place under it. So we went to the side room. The meats. Oh deary no. The brisket was fatty, devoid of smokiness, and just plain strange. One of my friends had it too and we both agreed. No thank you. The pulled pork was better but still missing that smoke pit bbq flavor I wanted. The best description we had of the meat was a bland canvas for which to taste the bbq sauce. The sides. Mac-n-cheese as ok. Sauce was creamy and cheesy. Seemed like sauce out of a big plastic bag. The fried okra is frozen pre-battered and fried when ordered so nothing you couldn't get at home. The baked roll that came with the meal was very nice. Really the highlight of my meal. The sauce. 3 sauce choices of spicy, sweet, and classic. I tried the sweet and it was ok. Not the best I've had, not the worst. Cost Price was on par with other Springfield BBQ joints if not on the little high side. 2 meat plate with a drink was near as makes no difference 14 bucks. The drink did come with a take home cup kind of like Newks. For me the experience was not a great one and seeing how pre-packaged the place is I'd be hard pressed to find a reason to go back. Today was the second time I have gotten take out from Dickies. It will be the LAST. My husband, our friend, and I placed our order, including something for our friend's husband. Each was a plate with two sides, so a total of eight sides. Because the friend was heading to her husband's nursing home, we were splitting up the food on the way and discovered we were missing a side of okra, jalapeno beans, a bag of chips, and a potato casserole. We returned immediately to correct the issue. The idiot at the cash register who screwed up the order in the first place acted put out, made us het our own chips, then proceeded to put first our jalapeno beans and then our okra on the tray of a guy who had ordered neither. He was very rude overall, acting as if WE were at fault, all because we wanted what we had paid for. In addition, the meat on ny sandwich was not just charred but burnt and dry, my tanglers and fries were soggy, and everything was over salted. read more

After my first time at Dickey's I decided to go again before leaving a review. I decided to be generous and give it a two. Both times I have ordered brisket and turkey and both times it has been sub par at best. This time the turkey was so over cooked it looked like ham. It had that over cooked tasted to it as well. The brisket is supposed to be sliced but it was hacked off chucks of meat. My wife's kept having little hard pieces in them. Ive eaten a lot of BBQ and never had that in my brisket before. If I could do zero stars I would. Today is Veterans Day and they're offering a free sandwich to veterans. My husband is 80 years old, has copd and the cdc warns against eating in a restaurant because the covid pandemic is bad here. This place would not allow my husband to do takeout. He has to sit in the restaurant to eat the sandwich. Of course he's not. Great way for them to limit the number of veterans they're honoring. Dickey's is some of the best BBQ in town. As a MOB member I eat here frequently with Larry Reynolds. Baked beans aren't over-sweet like most but instead have that good Texan vibe to them. Pulled pork is never dried out and the ribs here just evaporate in your mouth. A lot of the meats here are slight fattier than most joints but they cook it as to complement the overall flavor.
