We decided to try Dickey's for a change. We ordered three dinners online for pickup from the Westminster CO. store. They charged us correctly but we did not get all the food we ordered. We did not notice the errors until we got home. I tried calling the store but got an answering machine on which I left a message. To date I never received a call back. So I went on Dickey's web site and left a message. I never got a response to that message either. There are a lot of good BBQ places. Dickey's is not one of them. read more

I've eaten Dickey's BBQ several times, it's always been over the top yummy. I placed an order for delivery; the order arrived promptly, which was awesome (we were hungey). The food arrived warm, another plus. My chicken was on the salty side. I ordered a ceaser salad, which was delicious, the amount was on the skimpy side. I was disappointed with the dinner rolls, which were hard and not really edible being that they were hard. Although they did include extra bbq sauce, it wasn't enough, to my liking anyway. How funny that I have to go to a whole other state to try a restaurant that's sitting in my own backyard!?! I'd never even heard of Dickey's before some work associates took me to this NW Denver location. They said it was BBQ so I pictured something like famous Dave's. It was nothing like that.. This location was small, with little tables throughout. You walk in and you can just smell the BBQ sweetness! The staff was friendly and the service was quick. You walk through and they make your order right in front of you, similar to Subway or Chipotle. I went with a recommendation from my colleagues and ordered a one meat plate which includes 2 sides and a hot roll. I opted for the Honey Ham as they happened to have it as a new menu item (other options were normal BBQ offerings like brisket, pork and chicken). I tried the Green Beans and Bacon and the Potato Salad, although the side options were many. Everything from Cold Slaw, to Fried Okra, to Mac & Cheese. My dinner was $9.99 and I felt it was reasonable for the amount of food I got - the serving of Ham was more than I could finish! The ham was delicious! Funny enough, I didn't try the BBQ sauce. You add it yourself. It smelled amazing but the meat was so yummy, I didn't need it so I skipped the extra calories. They smoke all their own meats and I have to say the ham was perfect! I didn't even have to cut off any fat, just thick tasty pieces for my pleasure. The Beans were not great, the potato salad was awesome! My first time here since they opened right next to the house (uh oh!). I really have no BBQ "experience" or any "real" preferences, so I guess you can say that this review is based off of their service. We came here for dinner on the first day that they opened. Things were still being figured out - they got my side order wrong and so I had to wait a little longer (which was not a problem at all), but the manager came by our table and gave us a couple of free sandwich coupons to compensate (they also let me keep the sides that they thought I ordered. Holy cow, deep fried galore!). All the staff there is very friendly. :) Love the fried okra. P.S. They have free self serve ice cream - there's only one flavor, but hey, who's complaining? This place can be hit and miss. When it's good, it's good. Good amount of meat and tasty, sauces are flavorful and warmed (bonus points) and side dishes usually fresh, you wait for anything fried because they cook to order which is ok by me. When it's bad, it's bad. the meat is dry and flavorless to the point the sauce couldn't save it. The staff get awnry later in the shift and start messing with each other or act out of line in Front of the customers. I don't need to hear someone whisper scream lyrics while you prep my food, nor do I need to see you thrash around and throw your gloves on the counter and they put them on again and continue to prep food. We returned out food the last time we were here due to the aforementioned issues and fortunately the manager was on duty and took care of the return quickly. Well give it one more shot before make a final decision, hopefully it will be the charm read more

We went to this location today just after lunch rush, wasn't too busy but had some other customers there. Good sized doning space, easy to read menu, good deals on combos with sides etc. The staff were friendly and eager to serve us our food, never felt rushed or unwanted while we ate here which is very important to me. I got the Saturday special, the brisket sandwich was amazing! So much meat that I had no problem sharing with my toddler and had plenty for myself to still enjoy. Odered ahead for dinner, I was ten minutes early for my scheduled pickup and it was done already and sitting under the counter by the cash register. Cashier had no idea how long it was setting there. Checked my order and it was ice cold. It must have been hot at some point the to-go boxes were soaked through from condensation. They did remake the order but in their rush missed items. There is far better BBQ in town. Wasn't worth the almost $100.00 I spent on five dinners. read more

I am giving this place 5 stars, and not because I liked it... actually, I found it quite good, but because my 18 month old LOVES it. I got some pulled pork with the sweet BBQ sauce and he ate almost my entire serving. I mean, he pigged out on that pork :) which is super rare for him. He is usually a pretty picky eater. I think this might be more of a 4 star place, maybe four and a half... I hate when people rate on experience, service, appearance, or other inconsequential things... RATE the goods, folks, come on!!! I'm from the South, and this just might be the closest thing to Home, aside from Famous Dave's. I've tried Brothers, Southern Hospitality, Yazzoos, and this is #1 or #2, for sure. The place might look a little divey, but I was pleased with the food. You get what you pay for, right? The prices are reasonable ($8-$10 bucks a plate or so... ) and I think the portion you receive is fair. They had some sandwiches and some other things that were priced lower, and I think they have daily specials, too. The sides were really tasty and well made. We had the okra, mac and cheese, and the green beans. Delish! The meat was flavorful and tasty. I personally like their BBQ sauce... a thin peppery sauce is what makes for a good meal. Excellent bbq. I've been here a dozen times or so and I've been happy each time. They cut the meat in front of you, and even ask you how you want it cut. The sides that I've tried are great, beans and mash with gravy. They have 3 types of bbq sauce that you serve yourself. Sauce is next to the FREE soft serve ice cream. read more

I always wondered about the drive through here and sure enough like magic a couple weeks ago - I scored a 1/2 lb of brisket with three rolls for under 10 bucks. I later sat enjoying my weekly indulgence, thinking about where the next drive thru BBQ place is and I still think about that to date... But on another occasion; I tried the drive thru and met silence and just reversed after a few minutes and went in to just get what I wanted for a birthday dinner and move on. Well they were friendly and honestly seemed innocent about the drive thru malfunction but sometimes you wonder. Either way a drive thru BBQ place is like a courteous driver in Denver these days- rare. Never been disappointed with Dickie's until today. First they screwed up our order through Grubhub. Left out the sides that came with the meat plate and they were on the receipt. Got a refund through Grubhub for that mistake. The ribs I had were so salty I could not eat them even after drowning them with bar-b-que sauce. The brisket was real fatty and my girlfriend could not eat that either. Basically through the whole meal away. Wasted $56.00!! Been here twice already and loved it both times, will definitely be back soon! The turkey is fantastic, and some of the best ribs I've ever had -- when you say "fall off the bone", this is what you mean. We are so happy to have another choice in food along Sheridan to break up the terrible drag of "do you want pizza, Taco Bell, Burger King or McDonalds again?" It's very family friendly, especially when you get to have a free vanilla ice cream cone at the end of your delicious BBQ meal. I was traveling in the area from Illinois and did my research for a highly rated BBQ restaurant while I was in town and I think I really hit the jackpot. I don't understand how anyone could give Dickey's a negative review. The staff was very friendly. My 2-meat plate was prepared upon order and I watched as the pulled pork was actually pulled. I also ordered brisket that was perfect. I asked for mac & cheese but was told it would take about 10 minutes because they just ran out so I got onion strings and baked potato casserole that were also just right. I really loved that you get to keep the drink cup and also available free soft serve ice cream cones. If there was a Dickey's in my hometown in the Chicago area, I would be a frequent diner. I use to work for the locati9n in the springs but now corporate at bar louie and training in Westminster and i wanted Bbq and came to dickeys and its 8 but 1st issue the drive thru is blocked by a workers car and 2nd the employees standing in the window watching people leave. If it says 9 yall close then follow that. If not then dont advertise that your open till 9. WORSE LOCATION EVER WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. Dickey's Barbeque Pit is a pit. I went to the Sheridan location by Guitar Center and the ghost of the Westminster mall. (It's crazy to see the Brunswick Zone on 92 all the way from 88th.) I went in and saw one couple eating quietly at a table in the center of the restaurant. Another lady was chatting up the fellow slicing the meat and another couple was chatting up the cashier and what I assume was the manager or owner. I queued up patiently awaiting my turn to pick up my take-out. A hold-up ensued and eventually I was greeted by name by the cashier as the boss-man disappeared to the back area by the drive-thru. The cashier promptly delivered my bag and drinks. (Thank you for pouring them and not forcing me to do the extra work. Thanks, Bill Burr for pointing the ludicrousness of making paying patrons do work for the restaurants they are frequenting.) I hopped in my car and as is customary I decided to sample a fry. I was not fully cooked. As I drove home somewhat disappointed that I would have to further cook my fries I decided to try another just to be sure I didn't pick out the one defective waffle fry in my bag. Sure enough the second fry was even more undercooked than its predecessor. I got home to the family and had to put ALL of the food into the oven. The food actually and surprisingly came out well, but my disappointment could not be cooked away from my dinner tonight. Looking back on my dinner tonight I feel as if I got the B-team of BBQ restaurants. You know what type of restaurant I go to when I want to cook my own food? It's called a super-market. My husband and I have eaten here twice and loved it both times. My husband is a brisket guy and I am a rib girl. He is pretty picky about bbq and we are usually disappointed with bbq in restaurants. He swears by the brisket! I think the ribs are great. The sauces are decent too. We have tried some of the sides; mac n cheese has good flavor but is a tad mushy. The baked potato casserole is delicious. Overall, the staff is friendly, restaurant is clean, food is delicious, and it is a great value. We will be back! read more

Brisquette is pretty dry and was kinda warm. Most of the flavor was in the bark and thats ok, but it did not seem like it was smoked.

This experience Was the worst!!! My husband went in as a new customer. Told clerk he wanted ribs & chicken & asked what was available. He was told plates were all avail. Never told they sold meat by lb or that he could get ribs by rack or 1/2 rack or chix by lb. he ended up with 4 ribs on a plate w beans (he cannot eat a roll he cannot eat ! He's celiac!, 4 oz of chix w again a roll & beans He did not want sides but was unaware he could get any other way. NO one told him he needed to go to back of store for bar b que sauce. This food 1/2 of which he couldn't eat cost him $25. When he returned we viewed menu on line and saw u can order by lb Why wasn't he told this. When he called Louisville store to complain & said he didn't even get sauce he was told it was his responsibility to go to back & get it. Now how would he know that. Worst customer service.
