3 meat platter
Mike F.

First time eating there. Went at night while in the area, been wanting to try it out. Greeted by a nice woman and Rich at the counter. Welcoming demeanor and a smile. I decided to try the 3 meat platter as it would give me a nice sampling of their meats. RIBS -Cooked perfectly, nice smoke line visible, you can smell the BBQ in the meat. First pull with my hand, fell off the bone, easy pulled apart, and well covered with the sweet sauce. Great taste and texture, melt in your mouth ,and cooked to perfection. SLICED BRISKET- Nice size portion, 4 slices, thickness was normal, excellent pulling fell right apart with very little pressure. Taste was sweet, yet Smokey and blended well. Used a fork to cut into each piece. Another great brisket. PULLED PORK - A tad bit dry, no wet sauces on it as I wanted to sample each of the three sauces they had out for your taking. Pulled apart east, nice Smokey flavoring, dipped into each sauce, my favorite was the sweet, each sauce gives a bit of different flavors, I felt the sweet brought out more smoke Overall the pork was not bad. Next time, I'll have them mix in the sweet sauce. MAC N CHEESE- Definitely not home made, but I have had similar taste and texture at ither well inown bvq joints, not going to knock that, but if you want to stand out, make your own, make it stand out. COLE SLAW- Same sentiments at the macNcheese. FINAL THOUGHTS- over all 4 stars- I felt the brisket, and and ribs were cooked, smoked to typical BBQ quality and great flavor, and smokiness. The pulled pork could have been another scoop, but I understand it's portioned to most likely standards per order. Also, it needed to be a bit more wet and not dry. Overall, I will be back again and try something else next time.

We were so excited when Dickey's moved in to have BBQ out here. We went in opening day and there were long lines and things were hectic. We chalked it up to being new. The food was eh at best. We went back a few months later to see if it got better. Service was a little better but the food was still eh. Today we went back after them being open 11 months. This picture is a three meat meal for $20.50. I know this is a franchise but this is not $20 worth of food. I so wanted this to be better and be worth the money. The three "nuggets" are the boneless wings, there are two small pieces of fry brisket and the equivalent of ~1/4 of a link of sausage. Other small BBQ places offer a lot more on a plate for this price. Again, I know it's a franchise and the family can't control prices but we won't be going back

This business just had a serious fire, and it has been completely destroyed. So sorry to see this, but so glad no one was hurt.

Typical chain BBQ spot. Nothing special that would make me say "you gotta go here" to anyone. Food was okay, service was good.

I am completely over the moon for the wedding catering that my friend had by this small local…read morebusiness. Everything was absolutely mouthwatering and delicious. Very much worth the wait, and they were so friendly. So delicious the entire wedding party and guests went back for seconds, and felt completely satisfied. The only gripe I have is that I'm not local to the east coast, so I'm limited to only possibly having when I'm visiting! Boo! Meat Line Up: -Pork ribs: literally falling off the bone and delicious! -Chicken: so moist and the chicken skin was crispy. -Homemade Sausage: absolutely divine and could tell it was made with love and care. -Two types of brisket: I've had my share of brisket, and I am not easily impressed. I am a fan of the fattier cut, and IT WAS SO DELICIOUS IT REQUIRES ALL CAPS! Very moist and can tell it was cooked with care. Sides: -Asiago, cheddar and peppercorn Mac and Cheese: This was by far the winner of the dinner for me! The cheese combination was scrumptious and required a second trip to the food table! -Red bliss potato salad: amazing! Can't go wrong with a potato salad and this one had a great slight tang to it. -Baked Beans: a classic and they have a good recipe! -Cornbread: so moist and amazing! -Homemade Pickled Onion: I personally have a onion intolerance, but a friend said they were absolutely amazing! Perfect vinegar flavor and complimented the food. Sauces: -Sweet BBQ sauce: delicious and perfect on the ribs and brisket. -Golden Mustard Sauce: try with the homemade sausage! -Vinegar Pepper Base: the perfect addition to the chicken. If you need catering and like BBQ, pick up the phone and schedule this company!!!

Tough review to write. Day after a blizzard…read more 3.5 rounded up to a 4. Restaurant had a bad day, was out of Brisket and the owner was not happy with their Pastrami. The Tuesday night wing special was a nice surprise, .75 wings. Rubbed and smoked wings were very good, I liked their Alabama white sauce. Ribs were solid, nice smoke, fat rendered nicely. Spicy BBQ was very good. Cornbread was well above par. Service was very good. Owner offered samples. Cool byob, wood paneling. Parking can be challenging in the summer. We visit Spano's across the street quite often and I had noticed JSBBQ during my last visit. If I return, I will call ahead to make sure they have what I would like.

We went here last night Saturday, June 13. My wife had eaten here with her sister like a week ago…read moreand loved it and she does not like barbecue or didn't think she did anyway. I was worried the place would be so busy we would have to wait, but it was surprisingly half empty although people did keep coming in. I'm guessing so close to the Jersey shore on Saturday night in the summer everybody was doing the fine dining thing and we were surrounded by other restaurants that kinda met that criteria. I have to say I love the entire area: little shops and restaurants! Next time I'll have to look for an ice cream place nearby! I definitely like the atmosphere inside, it's kind of whimsical and fun with the little hilarious signs. But the food is clearly the star of the show. There was a small disappointment as they didn't have pulled pork because it wasn't ready, so I couldn't get the special "Mondo Joe" burger so I'll try to get that next time. We decide to get the special Parmesan fries I'm sorry I can't recall what they were named on the menu I think it was Cacio pepe fries. Those we couldn't stop eating till they were gone! I wound up getting the shrimp Po'boy with the grilled shrimp. the only thing I have to say is that it should've been on a roll that wasn't cut all the way through as to hold the shrimp in place, otherwise it was absolutely delicious and fresh tasting. My wife had the Cowboy brisket sandwich with melted cheese and onions with au jus for dipping. We both had their coleslaw which they give a very large portion of as our one included side. She let me try some of her sandwich, absolutely amazing! The brisket melts in your mouth! I also scored the leftover half of her sandwich as the portions are quite generous. I of course finished my sandwich! I can't wait to get back to this place and try more of the delectable items on the menu. The food really is that good.
