Tough review to write. Day after a blizzard. 3.5 rounded up to a 4. Restaurant had a bad day, was out of Brisket and the owner was not happy with their Pastrami. The Tuesday night wing special was a nice surprise, .75 wings. Rubbed and smoked wings were very good, I liked their Alabama white sauce. Ribs were solid, nice smoke, fat rendered nicely. Spicy BBQ was very good. Cornbread was well above par. Service was very good. Owner offered samples. Cool byob, wood paneling. Parking can be challenging in the summer. We visit Spano's across the street quite often and I had noticed JSBBQ during my last visit. If I return, I will call ahead to make sure they have what I would like. read more

We went here last night Saturday, June 13. My wife had eaten here with her sister like a week ago and loved it and she does not like barbecue or didn't think she did anyway. I was worried the place would be so busy we would have to wait, but it was surprisingly half empty although people did keep coming in. I'm guessing so close to the Jersey shore on Saturday night in the summer everybody was doing the fine dining thing and we were surrounded by other restaurants that kinda met that criteria. I have to say I love the entire area: little shops and restaurants! Next time I'll have to look for an ice cream place nearby! I definitely like the atmosphere inside, it's kind of whimsical and fun with the little hilarious signs. But the food is clearly the star of the show. There was a small disappointment as they didn't have pulled pork because it wasn't ready, so I couldn't get the special "Mondo Joe" burger so I'll try to get that next time. We decide to get the special Parmesan fries I'm sorry I can't recall what they were named on the menu I think it was Cacio pepe fries. Those we couldn't stop eating till they were gone! I wound up getting the shrimp Po'boy with the grilled shrimp. the only thing I have to say is that it should've been on a roll that wasn't cut all the way through as to hold the shrimp in place, otherwise it was absolutely delicious and fresh tasting. My wife had the Cowboy brisket sandwich with melted cheese and onions with au jus for dipping. We both had their coleslaw which they give a very large portion of as our one included side. She let me try some of her sandwich, absolutely amazing! The brisket melts in your mouth! I also scored the leftover half of her sandwich as the portions are quite generous. I of course finished my sandwich! I can't wait to get back to this place and try more of the delectable items on the menu. The food really is that good. read more

I love this place!!! I went there with my family from Florida, and everyone loved the food and vibe! We had the Jumbo Smoked Wings, the Big Texas Tots and the Smoked Pork Belly for appetizers which were all delicious. We ordered the Pulled Chicken BBQ Platter, the Burger, the Brisket Sandwich and Ribs which were all equally as delicious. You have to check this place out ASAP!! read more

I have been to a few bbq places so I went in with high expectations. Unfortunately the food wasn't as good as I expected. I am not from the area so it may have been an off day? The service was good though. The ribs were dry and the brisket was missing the smoke ring. The Mac and cheese was pretty good and the fries were tasty. The banana pudding was the best item. Unfortunately, the highlight of this visit was the friendly service and the complimentary nachos with sauce -- a nice touch to start things off. The Sloppy Joe was just okay -- nothing memorable. The mac & cheese had some flavor, but overall didn't wow me. The sweetened iced tea was solid, though! Shoutout to our server, who was super attentive and kind throughout. Excellent food and service in a very laidback shore spot about seven blocks from the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk and beach. Also fine background 60s-70s-80s music eg Dire Straits. I liked my brisket plate and wife her kielbasa plate including the two sides each. Can't attest to the booze since we didn't drink there. Apparently has been featured in one of Guy Fieri's food shows. Definitely one for the reliable shore fun list. read more

I've been going here a while every time in the Point Pleasant area. It's hard to spot because it's in a plaza off of Arnold Ave. But it's one of the best barbecue places around. The staff is always there to greet us with warm, smiles and professionally. We were seated and served right away. I was with two of my friends, and we all ordered the same thing. All the meats were smoked and cooked to perfection. And we both got two sides and they both were great. Everything was made fresh and you can tell it was made in house there. This place can be a little on the pricier side, but it's worth what you pay. You do get a lot of food after all for your money's worth. And all the sodas in the bottles are made in house. And they were very delicious as well. If you ever are near Point Pleasant or near the Jersey shore, definitely scope this place out. It's one of the best barbecue places guaranteed. read more

I have had no better BBQ EVER even down south the quality was OUTSTANDING in every way . HOWEVER THE SERVICE and the servers were not good ... they were inattentive.. unfriendly ...and unaccompanied bordering on rude... very limited garbage cans were put out and it practically took an act of congress to throw away your plate.. I used to love going to JSBBQ when they were located in Belmar. Food was ALWAYS on point. Portions were large and well worth every penny spent. We used to go there or order for pick up as often as possible. Now. You can tell the quality has gone down. We are always missing sides, portions are ridiculously small (4 oz to go) container is considered a "small side" for $5.99? The Mac n cheese which I used to love is barely edible. I used to frequent JSBB a lot and I always order the same items. I loved it! I decided to visit recently and the food was not what it used to be. I was surprised! I order the Monmouth Trifecta. The sliced brisket and pulled pork was unseasoned and there was barely any smoke profile in the meats. Before the meats were heavily smoked. I also purchased two orders of the street tacos. I remember JSBB using flour tortillas and not corn. The corn tortillas this time took away from the tacos. The collard greens were good. The Mac and cheese wasn't cheesy at all, it was very watery. I always speak to Doug if he's on-site. I did this time too. I just wish my food tasted like it did this past Summer and last Summer. I really wasted my money! read more

I have been boing to Jersey Shore BBQ since they first opened in Belmar. I have been to the Point location many times. There have been changes and the food and menu have gone down hill. First and foremost the food bbq and ribs were completely lacking of smoke. Zero smoke ring on the ribs. They took off some of the great menu items they had and my family was looking forward to. They added pizza (this is a bbq place). They no longer bring their assortment of sauces to the table, you have to ask for individual portions. I like trying the different sauces. Service was so so. When I did not get the sauce I had asked for I went inside and the pizza guy was of no help. I might give them another try but I am thinking for the amount I will spend why. Ever since Famous Dave's went out of business, we've been on the hunt for a good BBQ in the Lakewood-ish area. We decided to try JSBBQ because it's going to be on DDD next week. It did not disappoint! We ordered the brisket tots as an appetizer & they were amazing!! Whatever magic they use to get that blackened crust on the brisket is worth the trip alone. I had the sloppy Joe (pulled pork & brisket on a bun) with Memphis & mustard sauce. I was so happy they had mustard sauce as many BBQ places don't. It was so good. And collard greens on the side were yummy. My dining partner had the Texas Reuben with turkey & beans on the side. She said it was all very, very good. I want to go back & try the smoked corned beef & also breakfast. Atmosphere was casual. Service was friendly & super fast. No alcohol, but there are plenty of places in Point Pleasant for that. We decided to eat something that was not pizza or subs and bbq was the right choice! They have complimentary chips and salsa for the table before the meal begins. My son and I decided to split a meal, it was a choice of three meats. We got the brisket, and shrimp two ways.
