Last week I had a huge ordeal with my car completely taking a dump on me, and had to have AAA tow my car two times. Both times Dick's Automotive came to the rescue. I encountered four of the employees and they were all incredibly friendly, and made my painful experience just a little bit less painful. My fiance's car battery died at the movies. I thought to myself, well this will be easy, just go get a new battery at the auto parts store and should be simple right?! Not really! Her Infiniti has a special size of battery and it is behind and under other engine cover parts and not easily accessible. Even though the guy at the auto parts store said the battery would fit in her car, it did not. We called Triple A and Dick's came out to service the car with their battery replacement truck. The technician knew right away her car would need a special size battery and had that battery on his truck! He replaced the battery within minutes and we were set. I used Dick's Automotive twice. Once on Monday, when I discovered that some criminal had drilled a hole in the gas tank of my husband's truck while it was parked at our apartment and siphoned all the gas out! Of course this had to happen right after he leaves for a month long military training camp. At first I didn't notice the hole in the tank, so I drove the truck to the gas station right around the corner, only to find the gas I was pumping in was just pouring out of the tank. The gas station was no help with a tow truck company, so I looked on Yelp and found these guys. It took them about an hour to get to the gas station, but I work close by so it wasn't a problem. The guy that showed up (don't know his name, wish I did) was very nice while I freaked out about the gas tank. I called them again on Friday when the truck needed to be towed to the body shop, and the same driver showed up right on time. Very nice and friendly again, and it made it to the body shop in no time. It was about $90 each time, but was covered by my insurance both ways so I'm not too worried about it. That doesn't seem outrageous to me, and I'm willing to pay that price for a friendly and prompt tow! Will definitely use them again if I ever find myself needing a little help, though hopefully that day won't come soon :) Thanks Sgarlato Brothers! read more

I have had need of a tow truck from time to time since moving here in 1995 and Dick's had always been great. Whether after an accident, where I have been really shaken up, to my need today (please help me put a spare on my SUV), the drivers have consistently been prompt, professional and helpful. I had battery corrosion on my car and I called AAA, who sent these guys over to help. Josh was friendly and helpful--I had originally wanted to buy a new car battery but he told me I didn't need it (such a relief to not be scammed when it comes to car maintenance!), saving me a bunch of money. Deceptive and dishonest opportunists! After a recent auto accident, we contacted AAA to have our car towed to a local body shop. Dick's automotive showed up - great! The car is obviously totaled, and the accident was cause by another driver. The driver from Dick's suggested just towing the car to their place and they would bill the other insurance company. Ok - great. 11 days later, I receive a lien notice from Dick's - pay $170 for the tow, $60 per day for storage or they will sell my car and bill me for the difference if they don't get more than $845 for the car. Not once were we told of any storage charges, nor that the amount would be $60 per day (ridiculous amount!!). Not once were we contacted before the lien notice was filed to be told of the fees. Dick's automotive used deceptive tactics during a highly stressful situation to not only up the fee for towing (AAA doesn't pay them that much), but to also collect the daily storage fees. We've never had to deal with this kind of situation before, and it turns out the other driver was so under-insured, we are going to have to sue him for damages (this will take MONTHS or YEARS). In the meantime, Dick's wants their money. I can't pick up the car because I don't have $845 (actually MORE now). I will be filing a complaint with AAA about Dick's. Had one of their employees contacted us on the Monday following the accident, I would have had the car removed from their site immediately. read more

Used Dicks through Triple A last night, They came on quickly when promised and were very polite and safety conscious, had us wait in the car with seat belts on as we were on the shoulder of CA-85. Cars whizzed by at 70 mph. Ended up towing us home. Took only a few minutes to put car on truck and afterwards off the truck. Even offered us cold water while we waited. I asked the two drivers if they had customer service training as they were very customer oriented. I would recommend and us them again. read more

He gave me a tow to the tire shop nearby and stuck around for several minutes until enough space freed up at the shop that he could safely drop my car. Our daughter crashed the car and it had to be towed off the freeway. Well luck was with us. We got Paul (from Dick's) not only once but twice. Once to tow the car to the repair shop (sadly unrepairable) and then to the junk yard. Paul was fantastic. He helped me consider all the options and believe me it wasn't easy i.e. tow it back to our house or to the junk yard. For those who think donating a car is simple then prepare to spend at least an entire day donating the car. Too long a story to tell here - will write another review (horror) about Pick n Pull. However Paul felt bad that they wouldn't take my car initially at Pick n Pull as if it was his fault at all. He helped me unload the car there and was just sooooo nice and patient. Thus review is for the driver Mario. My car has been broken down for the 3 rd time for the past 1.5 years. First and second diagnose & repair from the garages weren't quite solving the problem. Mario came to tow my truck and had a look of my engine. He gave the repair guy and be a suggestion on repair job and it came out his diagnose was correct. He is an experienced technician before he comes to this job. I will definitely refer Mario to people who needs a good service and suggestive advice from a tow service company. After driving some friends home from the bar I found myself on 85S around 3am. A tire I had patched blew out less than 2 miles from home. Lame... No big deal though I'll just throw on the spare I thought. Turns out my jack's crank was missing so I had to call AAA. Never thought that I would have such a great experience even my car is not working!!!! My car is my freedom and I was very stressed and even scared hearing very weird sounds out of it. The intense rain was not too comforting either. My husband called AAA and they sent Mario from Dick's Automotive. He came earlier and, as soon he showed up, I was impressed about his care for me and my car. He introduced himself very politely and offered to see if can check first the car maybe something can be done there and save time and money. His warm, friendly and calm attitude, his confidence immediately helped me let go of the stress. Nothing could be done on the spot and he took the car and dropped it at my mechanic. A flat tire is no big deal unless you are a Senior lady without a cell phone stranded in a parking lot in front of the Dollar Store. Thank goodness the folks in the Dollar Store let me use their phone. I called AAA and was lucky enough to get the WONDERFUL Mario Aguayo. If I am in a crisis at any other time, I can only hope that Mario is the one who comes to the rescue. He went over and beyond his duties and helped find a used tire place that carried my hard to get size tires. 1998 Geo Metro with less than 28,000 miles on it and small tires that hardly any one carries anymore. Honest, friendly, reliable, accommodating, stellar. These are just a few words to describe Dick's Automotive. Not only do they work hard, they treat their customers like the true professionals they are. My car battery had died while I was visiting family and due to a mistake AAA made, I had no service calls left. I called Dick's and explained the situation to Charles, the manager, and without hesitation he came to where my car was and jump started it with ease. He took the time to evaluate my battery and determined that it was in such a condition that it would most likely die again. He suggested that I consider getting a new battery, which I did immediately after I left. Charles also told me about a compact, portable jump starter powered by solar energy that I could use myself to help charge my battery. He then suggested several places I could buy one. He did all of this free of charge. He knew the bind I was in waiting for AAA to correct their mistake and went out of his way to help me. read more

After our transmission failed and we had to leave it near an offramp on Highway 17 we were frustrated already as we had recently bought it from H & H Motors and were low on cash. We went back to try to get our car in the evening and it had been towed by Dick's automotive. I called them at about 8PM and they told me if I want to get my car tonight which was "After Hours" I would have an extra fee of $50. and I was told I would not get that fee in the morning so I waited and we went to their place first thing. When we got there we were told that we are to pay for TWO DAYS of storage and the fee was well over $250.00 I was very upset that I had been lied to and that we were being charge for two days when in reality our car was not in their posession for even half a real day. I consider this company to be full of thieves and dishonest people and I flip off every one of their trucks that go by. I hate them very much because they kicked us when we were down. God see's these things and he hears the cries of his people. I hate dishonest people and dishonest businesses. To make things worse, when we paid the bloated and injust fee, they pulled our car out of the lot with a DAMNED FORKLIFT!! scratching the undercarriage of the car. I did everything in my power to keep control of myself and to this day I still hate these bastards. GO TO HELL DICK'S Automotive!!! Lying stealing bastards! I see lots of good reviews for Dicks..... however our experience had me so pissed off at them that they were threatening to call the police just cause I was challenging their fees!! Call My AAA and in a half hr. or so the tow truck pulled up hooked me up and drove my car and I to a repair shop. The driver was nice and understood my frustration though it all. Requested tow (from aaa) due to a failed alternator late night. No other prior issues on car. Representative from the above company arrived and proceeded to tow vehicle from the front of the vehicle in a location other than where the manufacturer installed the tow hook (front and rear, one each). Next morning a puddle of power steering fluid on the front end of the car from a similar location where the towing representative placed the towing hooks was discovered. A complaint was filed with aaa. Subsequently a claim was filed. The above company denies any responsibility. read more

My drivers side rear wheel blew out. I called AAA to have a tow truck driver come on out to change my tire since I did not have the time to have it towed and fixed, plus it was on a busy street and I figured I pay for these instances. Also, the tow truck driver could position his truck in a safe way which would make the change much safer. The driver, from DICK'S AUTOMOTIVE, was unable to change the tire because he did not have sufficient tools. I have after market tires which are very common and i have never heard or had this problem before. I have had AAA change out my tire twice before wihout any inconvenience. I instructed the driver to have someone else bring out some tools. He explained to me that his supervisor would not authorize the tire change due to liability which is completely ridiculous. I did call Americas Tire to confirm this statement and they said that eventhough the spare is not the same size there wouldn't be any problems to put the different sized tire on. The driver left the scene. I called AAA back to explain the story. He contacted the company but once again they said that they couldn't (actually wouldn't) change the tire. My only choice was to have the driver come on back to tow my truck to Americas Tire. I was completely inconvenienced by this whole situation. I contacted several other companies and explained the story and they all said "I got taken for a ride." The companies do not want to change tires because they do not get paid like they do as towing the vehicle. If you have a choice in service companies during a brake down, DO NOT choose this company. They are horrible and just suck!!!!! read more

Our hideously awful roadside assistance (NEVER EVER use AT&T Roadside Assistance) had screwed things up and left us stranded at the side of the highway for TWO AND A HALF HOURS (!!!) Nick showed up in about half the estimated time (they told us we'd have to wait another 45 minutes), changed the tire (which the previous driver said he couldn't change because the shoulder was too narrow) in no time, and put air in it with the nifty air compressor he had on his truck.
