Overall - Good drunk food that's better than McDonald's Similar to in n out in terms of cost? Yes. Taste? Mehh. Don't get me wrong, I like the burgers here but they're definitely more focused on speed than quality. There's a reason why you can wait a long time at an in n out drive through yet order and receive your food from Dicks in minutes. Since Dicks has a limited menu, most of the food is made prior to your order! This is good for efficiency but results in some very soggy fries if you're unlucky like me :( That being said if you're in the area I'd still recommend trying the food here! This is a UW college kid favorite. It's like the In n Out of Washington! If you are craving a quick, juicy, cheap burger..look no further! The set up of this place mimics the food court at an amusement park -- you wait in parallel lines outside the shop and get your food instantly at the counter right as you order! The parking lot is not huge but we managed to find a spot right up front! We ordered one deluxe burger, one special burger, fries, and 2 kids cones. They have condiments that come on the side (for 5 cents) as they want to minimize the customization and get food out as quick as possible! We got pretty much all of them for a low 30 cents! The fries are delicious -- perfectly crisp and have a decent amount of salt on them :) The cones come in a bunch of different flavors and are under $2 so if you are feeling like some ice cream go for it. Just remember that you get everything at once so you may be eating dessert before your meal to avoid a mess :-) Definitely not by any means a fancy place, but for a quick burger at a great price point.. you can't beat it! read more

Cheap food!! All the prices here are amazing, and the taste is great for the price. The burgers definitely are small. It's comparable to a McDonald's cheeseburger size. And they're not that thick either. I usually go with the Dick's Deluxe ($3.40): 4.5/5. I get this because it has the most ingredients inside. This burger is so yum! Still not enough to satiate me though. I could get two, but I don't because of calories... Fries ($1.90): 3/5. Not a huge fan. I prefer crispier fries. These are soft, and I feel like I'm eating oily potato skin sometimes. But they do taste fresh. My fingers get so oily while eating these--need lots of napkins. Milkshakes ($2.70): 4/5. You can't go very wrong with milkshakes. These are pretty small, but they're reasonably priced at $2.70. Thick and tasty!! Rocky road ice cream cone ($2.10): 4/5. Reasonably priced. Ice cream just tastes like normal ice cream you'd find in the grocery store. The small soft drink ($1.60) is really small. This is one item that I would say is rather overpriced considering all their other menu items. Should be closer to a dollar because the cup is tiny. Service is quick! Nothing hits the spot like a Dick's Deluxe and a Strawberry Shake after a Friday or Saturday night on the town. Whether it's after a concert or just munchies late at night, Dick's is your go-to for after hour eats. This place is a Seattle staple. You have to experience Dick's Drive-in at least once in your life. The waiting in line with all the eclectic patrons, taking that first bite of your burger at 1am, and maneuvering out of the parking lot. This is all part of the Seattle night life. I'm not saying their burgers are the best in Seattle, but they're the best after midnight. I usually get a Dick's Deluxe or 2 if I'm hungry. There's just something about that shiny, foil wrapper that speaks to me. The Deluxe has 2 patties, lettuce, pickles, cheese, and mayo. The melted cheese and fat from the burger patties gives it the perfect coating as it slides down your esophagus and into your stomach. These aren't really big burgers, so it's not that messy to eat. At $3.40 per burger, it's a good value. With the new Seattle soda tax, you might want to skip on the Coke and get a Strawberry Shake instead. Again, we're comparing this to other foods eaten at midnight. If that's the case, this shake will rock your world. The consistency of the shake is thinner than your normal shakes you get at ice cream shops, but it goes so well with the burger and fries. I always get the Strawberry shake, but I hear the Chocolate is equally as good. When it comes to late night eats, there's nothing more that screams Seattle then getting burgers, fries, and shakes at Dick's. For fast food and fast service, this place is always my go-to when I'm in the Wallingford area after dark. read more

How is this place famous?! I've never had good food at this location. This time will be my last time trying Dick's. The fries are limp and drenched in oil. One thing I don't like is they refuse to make adjustments to the burgers. I didn't want mayo on mine and was told "we can't make changes to burgers because it will slow down service." Really? So my thought is they just make a ton and leave them and they end up not being fresh and sitting a while. My burger was cold, bun was soggy and ingredients were wilted. Prices have definitely gone up which makes the food not worth it even more. This place even charges for condiments... Chocolate shake was decent though. read more

Simple, tasty burger, slightly squishy but that is the way it should be. Greasy, tasty, home-cut fries. And their special fry sauce. Time to update this review. All I can say is I'm hooked. I think between my last review in 2012 to 2020 I probably only been there a handful of times. But between 2020 to now, I'm probably there once every couple weeks! If I drive by one, and i'm hungry, I will just pull in and grab a bite to eat. I have been learning more and more about how this restaurant operates, and how they provide for their employees just made me want to support them even more. Yesterday while driving home from work, I heard on the radio that they are raising their minimum wages again, and lowering their bar on education support for their employees, I took an early exit off 179 and went to their Edmonds location and got my usual: 1x Deluxe 1x special, 1xFries + 1 large diet coke. The service wasn't that great, the staff went away to grab the burgers while we were still ordering and they missed some of our orders. The burgers were dry and VERY normal. Now I'll grab a Dicks Deluxe anytime of day, yet nothing tops off a night of boozing & chasing women like the taste of Dicks Drive Inn at 1:30 in the morning. Theres nothing like power of 2 meat patties, lettuce cheese & sauce slapped onto a bun, fresh cut fires and served with either a Coke or handmade strawberry milkshake to cap off a prefect night. Well, only one thing better is when you've manage to have a special friend with you ( wink wink ) to share it with. Not much has changed over the years. Dick's has manage to keep a very basic menu with 4 choices. The Hamburger , Cheeseburger, Special & Deluxe are your Burger choices along with french fries that are hand cut from fresh potato's on the premises for quality. Ice cream scoops & milkshakes for those desiring something sweet or if your maintaining a vegan diet yet just wanna participate in the institution. Parking is on the premise so you won't have any worries about parking. Meals are served fast and hot. And on occasion you may wait in line but that's cause others want what you want. It's aight -- the deluxe double cheeseburger and shake taste just like Mickey D's. The fries have a more fresh potato taste but are a little too grease-saturated and not too crispy to my taste (think five guys fries but McDonald's thickness). All three components of my order seemed to have been on standby (the burger and fries were on the warmer). I was pretty disappointed that the shake was sitting in the freezer and wasn't made to order (it was quite busy when I visited) -- the shake itself seemed more milk than shake at the point of consumption... Might be a classic, but there a lot of fresher, better burger options in Seattle for just a bit more dollar. read more

I was super excited to try this Seattle staple but oof, I was disappointed. Their burgers are indistinguishable from McDonald's, and their shakes taste like a Wendy's frosty. When someone claims their food to be the best the region has to offer, places like Shake Shack and In-N-Out come to mind. Places that have a really distinct signature to their food. Besides the super cool ambiance, complete with a bright, spinning sign, there is no difference to be found between this place and any other burger chain.
