The organization is very efficient and the selection on most everything outdoors or hunting and shooting is nice. I do most of my business at the firearms section which is always very busy but efficient and the staff are very personable. Prices are good and I expect that if a big chain. Clothing and shoes are well integrated with each brand. I bought clothes and boots by 5.11 and they included the manufacturers sale on both and in the case of the boots my size was not in stock at that store but was in another and were shipped directly to my home in a few business days when my size was not in stock at the store with no additional charge. I went to this store 6633 Ritchie Hwy, Governor Plaza, Glen Burnie, MD. I picked out a driver for golf. $300 club. I went to the register for help to get the head cover and head adjustment tool and was told that the employees were in a meeting and could I wait 3 min. I said sure. After 5 minutes I put the club back and walked out of the store. When does an employee meeting supersede a paying employee? You have no meeting if not for the customer. Zero stars! read more

I was here yesterday. I have been looking for new sneakers and had a particular brand in mind. After an online search I found this location sold the brand and had some selections. I wasn't sure what to expect though. I usually order online. I don't usually shop here. Plus, I'm of a certain age and can recall when shoe horns were standard in shoe stores. It was around 3pm. I expected few sales ppl to be around. I walking to the sport shoe area, looked for my brand choice (score 1), selected a few options and walked over to another brand and picked a selection. Then looked for sales ppl. There were 2. (score 2). They were talk to each other and stocking the wall. I asked for help and one came over. (The other one continued stocking and was helping another customer who was already there.) I explain to my sales person what I was looking for and showed him my selections. We chatted about my options and where to start. (I have a wide flat foot. I wear sneakers for all most all of the time. The brand I was looking for was highly spoken of by EVERYONE I asked who had them on. I was also very specific about the color of the shoe AND the color of it's sole.). Nate (my sales person, and score 3) was very congenial, patient, knowledgeable and empathetic. I tried on about 8 or 9 pairs of shoes between the two brands and various sizing (Women's vs Men's). He never made me feel rushed, like I was an inconvenience, simply being tolerated or ignored. My experience there with him was unexpected and appreciated. And yes, I found the shoes I envisioned before I walked in...plus another pair. We need options you, you know?!! Nate is a gem! I hope they have more like him working there. read more

Checked on whether the Waugh Chapel store had an expensive treadmill in stock for pick up. Confirmed that they had it in stock on Saturday for pick up. Arranged for truck, and some help in place to carry said treadmill inside my home after purchase. Made purchase online, only to be advised that the treadmill "wasn't in stock" at that store. Called the store and got fed a bunch of nonsense that it wasn't in stock. Incredibility unprofessional store. Dick's is basically one step away from being a third world tshirt stand w/a few sporting goods thrown in. Stay away from this store if you need something you can't pick up off the shelf and purchase at the counter. Online service was no better. Completely incompetent. read more

Great place to shop. This location has plenty of nice, respectful, helpful employees. Throughout the entire store is clean and organized. I went in to shop for a pair of sneakers. This location has a variety of different options, styles, and colors to choose from. In particularly the shoe tech named Jerel. He was fantastic. He took his time and was very patient with my indecisive mother. Jerel even contacted another store and waiting on hold for roughly 6 minutes or so to locate a particular shoe. Walked in to get some knee pads and wrist pads for skateboarding which say they are available on the website in store. Upon going to that section of the store two girls in the back are complaining and cursing about work. Not a great image. And then the wall where pads should be is completely empty. I walk over the the bike section and ask an employee if there was anywhere else or if they had pads since the website said they did after driving all the way here. The employee told me to just buy them on Amazon and maybe it's the customer service part of me from working retail but that was such a gross response. You go to a huge sporting goods store and the employee just tells you to buy it off Amazon after it says on the website it's available here. I hate buying from Amazon which is why I'm here....just was really not happy with my experience. read more

Oh my Goodness this place is amazing. We were looking for a winter coat for me, since I lived in Tucson AZ for 25 plus years, I have NO winter weather gear. My spouse lived in Wisconsin for her whole life (less the two years in Tucson AZ) , so she is WELL STOCKED in winter attire. So we went to Dick's. We got a NICE Columbia 3-in-1 coat for me. They are stylish and functional. I got grey, to match just about everything. Now to accessorize. I got a North Face fuzzy black scarf, and mittens! (black of course). We also got nice thick socks to wear around the house. We both got University of MD plaid sleep pants!! I got a YETI can cuzi. It keeps cans SO cold for hours. Robin for her son "Jordan" slip on flip flops on sale for 19.99, then more off....and 14.98 was our final price. And finally I got an UA camouflage hat. Hell yes!! Today I needed a shirt to wear to the Open Practice at the Ravens Stadium. i was in and out in no time. In the back of the store was a women's apparel section full of Orioles and Ravens gear. I picked a shirt, found my size and was off to the counter. The store was very organized, nice and clean and easy to move about. I was able to scan my perks card using my phone and use my latest reward. I paid, they emailed my receipt to me and I was out the door. The customer service could have been a little bit better. The lady at the counter was not the friendliest. Not bad. read more

So I am not one to post a bad review but I am so disappointed & shocked how customers were treated today. So i got a coupon for the 20% off softball gear that was only good this weekend & as i signed my daughter up for softball I walked in there planning to spend alot of money since this is her first time playing. With that being said this is the first time weve had to buy gear so we went in there pretty clueless. This weekend my fiancé & I decided to spend the weekend at my familys house which is about 1 & 1/2 hours away so we went to the dicks near my familys location when i noticed that the coupon was only good for the Glen Burnie location we rushed to make it time because this coupon was only good for the weekend & since I planned on buying the Bat,Glove, Helmet & shoes. That is a pretty penny so I wanted to 100% use the coupon. To make a long story short we rushed down and finally made it around 6:21pm & they closed at 7 so we ran in & while walking in the man I am assuming is the manager (he had the key to the door) gave us the DIRTIEST LOOK. We walked to the softball section & was trying to find the correct fast pitch bat & as we were looking the man with the keys got on the loud speaker telling us it was 6:30 & the store would be shutting down the register at 7pm (which was understandable) so I tell my fiancé to walk over to the gloves because we couldnt find the correct bat so I atleast wanted to get something today to use the coupon well literally 5 mins later he went over the loud speaker again saying it was 6:35 the register will be closing at 7 and They would be open again tomorrow at 9. Then he repeated the time twice more At that point I couldnt even think & was so frustrated. When he was speaking on the loud speaker he had the most condescending tone in his voice I was honestly shocked. Not 1 person walked over asking if we needed help (that could have helped get out faster) he then said over the loud speaker it was 6:55 they WILL be closing the registers down in 5 mins. I knew they closed at 7 I didnt plan on taking my time. I know what it is like to want to go home so finally I told my daughter to come on & let my fiancé know we were going go the car while he still looks, as we were walking out while passing him he was speaking into his headset to im guessing another employee that he doesn't understand why nobody is getting the hint and that they will not keep the register open. So as im sure you know by this time I was literally in disbelief an employee would be SO blatantly rude. He said it loud enough for people to hear! Once we got into the car I pulled up front to pick up my fiancé from The doors and at EXACTLY 7pm he came out and locked the doors......well while doing so he LIGHT UP A CIGARETTE & to me that makes me feel he was being so rude because he wanted to smoke a cigarette. (I am a smoker) & I have NEVER in my life been treated the way we were tonight because the manager or whoever he was wanted to smoke a cigarette. This was my first time at Dicks Sporting Goods & after tonight I plan on it being my last. Everyone in the store that walked past us or by us noticed how nasty he was being about us not leaving the first time he got on the loud speaker. & I do not plan on purchasing a single thing because i refuse to purchase anything from a store with employees like that. Maybe he doesnt realize if there were no customers he would be out of a job. I regret not looking at his name tag but im almost positive this will not be the only complaint. read more

Very disinterested staff. I visited this store on 16 March 2015 at 7:15 pm with the goal of buying a Camelbak thermos, Under Armour gear, and a fitbit. I lingered in the Under Armour section for about 10 minutes while a staff member, who I will not name, did everything to convince me she was busy. I then approach another staff member with questions about the Camelbak thermos. He was responsive and pointed me to the rear of the store. I waited in that section for about five minutes for a sales associate, but when no help arrived (Note: I'm 6'3 and 230 lbs - not easy to miss) I gave up . Tired, I decided to leave. On my way out the store, I noticed the $250 fitbit that I had been looking for two months. As bad as I wanted to buy it, I was not gonna give this store my money. Totals sales lost: Over $300. Associate or Manager Melissa was very unprofessional. Has a bad attitude and a stick up her butt. You guys are in a middle of a shoe remodel with a new associate. The new associate was 100 times more professional and friendly than she was. I needed help with trying on a shoe. She didn't even smile or greet me. Barely even helped me. She showed me where the shoe was, told me that they didn't have my size, and walked away. I almost walked out. The new associate still helped me the best he could. Then when I was going to check out I overheard her complaining to another associate about this new associate. read more

Terrible customer service. The manager was aggressive, made false claims, and was absolutely rude. That's what you get for hiring uneducated low wage workers I guess. They really live up to their name... Dick... sporting goods. But whatever you do, please do NOT get rid of their staff, especially the night manager. He would not be able to get a job anywhere else (not even Walmart in West Baltimore would hire him) and would be unemployed living off of our tax payer dollars. So at least at Dicks, he has a job where he can feel like a man, even if he only makes $12 an hour. read more

Selection is vast for sporting apparel. Prices are average, nothing special. Hunting section could use some serious help but it is a store in Glen Burnie so I didn't expect it to be too over the top. Staff could def use some improvement as far as product knowledge but again, they're most likely minimum wage employees so I can't expect the world. I'll continue to go there because so far, I've been able to go there for an item and they had it. read more

Very impressed with these guys, I just moved to Canton MD and had a list of things to get (kayak, bicycle, and weight-lifting gear) and they were experts in all these different areas - providing great advice/recs as well as hooking me up with fine-tuning the bicycle for free. First and Last Time Customer I was in the need of a new pair of athletic shoes to replace the Sketchers I was wearing. I saw an ad from Dick's showing some Under Armor shoes in the price range I wanted to pay. I've been very happy with the Sketchers brand but wanted to give Under Armor a try. On Wednesday morning, August 30, 2017 my wife and I went to the Dick's store in Glen Burnie Maryland. We had not been to this or any other Dick's store previously. Therefore, we were not familiar with the store layout. Eventually, a male salesperson asked if we needed assistance. We told him why we were there and he led us to the shoe area but then told us one of the shoes I was interested in wasn't sold by that store. However, I noticed the shoe on display right next to where he was standing. He smiled and attempted to make a joke while telling us that the female sales person in that area would get the size and color shoe for us in the back. He then quickly disappeared. There were two styles of the Under Armor brand I was interested in trying on for fit and comfort. I took the display shoes to the female sales person. Told her the size and color I was interest in trying. She returned with one pair that was neither the color nor size I needed. I pointed that out and she huffed and went away. She returned about five minutes later saying the closest she could provide was a half size larger than I needed and that I'd have to try that size. She provided one shoe of the other style I was interested in and I asked about the other because I'd like to try both left and right shoes. She responded that she could only find the one shoe and walked away. We were astonished with her attitude and her lack of professionalism. We found another store employee and told him we left some shoes sitting out and exited the store. We went to Sears and purchased a very nice pair of Sketchers. I would have liked to try the Under Armor brand but with the experience at Dick's I wasn't in any mode to make a second attempt at trying something new. I doubt either of us will ever be tempted back to Dick's because of this experience. read more

0 stars for customer service yet 5 stars for selection, cleanliness of the store and for the huge clearance sale going on here right now in the parking lot. I scored a unique North Face jacket for $60 and some great Under Arbor yoga pants that are super high quality. They also had the exact jump rope I was looking for. They are always in stock on great running socks and sneakers and the latest ladies gym clothes. They are by far superior to Sports Authority, who's stores seem tired. However, there is never enough staff at Dicks. Getting someone to open the fitting room was an impossible task so I just decided to try them on at home and retune them if needed (generous 90 day return policy with receipts and tags), however the front desk girls were totally rude: barked at me to come around to the front of the line-although by doing so I budged someone, never made eye contact, never said hello or good bye and didn't even hand me my bag, just shoved the receipt in it and the. I went into this store with an old tennis racquet that needed to be restrung. I was greeted as soon as i entered the store and directed to where i could find the strings, and then offered help in selecting the best ones for my ability. Jessica (the store manager) helped me find the right strings and took me to the front to fill out a form to have the racquet restrung on site. after paying for the strings and labor for the restringing i was headed home when i received a phone call from the store manager. It turns out I had put the strings in my bag, which they needed to restring the racquet. The manager offered to just provide different stings and i could return the ones i had in my possession. I declined and told her i was only a few minutes away and would bring the one I had in my possession back. She greeted my in the packing lot and gave me a gift card for my trouble! talk about being customer focused. Thank you Jessica and the entire Dicks staff for you customer focused efforts, i used the racquet this weekend i will certainly be shopping in your store again! read more

I went to buy a pair of running shoes and I didnt know what I wanted. The young lady in the shoe department was actually a runner and she was a huge help! She brought out about 10 different shoes for me to try on with no complaints. She gave me her recommendation and her reasons for why one shoe would be better than another. I went there today to buy a bike and it was a very unpleasant experience. First, it took about 15 minutes to get anyone to help us in the bike department and the guys excuse was because they are understaffed today... During Memorial Day weekend... Which is not good for anyone! Then, he recommended a car rack for the bike which I purchased. He put air in my tired but did not adjust the bike to fit me and then he left to go help their people and told us just to take everything up front. After this my dad and I went outside to assemble the car rack and then discovered that I couldn't put the bike on the rack because it is a woman's bike and doesn't have the bar across it. So I had to go back inside and I spoke with the manager James and told him about my unpleasant experience. He was very dismissive and not empathetic at all. When I asked why no one offered to help me put my bike on the rack he just said that it's not something that they do. I can understand that they are not required to do that but a kind employee would still offer to help especially if they knew that a customer was having issues, but no, that's not something they do according to James. He did however get another employee to find the accessory bar for my bike which I got for 50% off for the inconvenience. It still took forever for my dad and I to get the bike to fit on the rack without it being 1 inch from the ground. Then, a very kind stranger leaving another store offered to help us and was able to change some things around and put my bike safely on the rack. Though I am pleased that I can rely on kind strangers, I am very very disappointed with the customer service at this store, especially with the manager James. I will probably never go here again and would not recommend anyone to go there for a bike, just go to a local bike shop. You may pay more but they are much more helpful and provide more services! read more
