I find it so weird that there are 4-5 young guys always standing by baseball section, with nobody willing to help. They stand there and talk to each other, and when I say 'excuse me' and ask a question, they act like I am bothering them. One of them would give a very short answer- such as pointing finger as to where the item is, or short yes or no with no explanation. This happened about 4 times that I have been there last couple months, then that is a pattern. The guys look like high schoolers or young kids in early 20s and I am not sure who manages the store, but I felt the manager was NOT doing the right job if this happens so often. My husband went there to try on baseball pants last week, the dressing rooms were shut down with 'wet paint' sign on them. They told us to come back in couple hours. So we went back next day to find the sign again so we had to buy what looked to be the correct size, now I am having to go there again to make an exchange. Well, with such horrible experience at Dick's, it will not be an exchange, I am getting a refund to go elsewhere. Please train the employees to help customers with questions, instead of standing there chatting. Obviously, someone is not doing the right job, or in my opinion, nobody is working with right attitude- employees and the manager. Very disappointing. read more

This place is great! Came in the last hour to get my sons flat tire fixed and when I got to the register my card was declined. I thought I should leave my tire and comeback and pay for it but instead a nice man by the name of Lucas let me take it and "trusted" I would come back and pay. Just came back Lucas! Thank you. We just ran in to grab some cleats and they have earned my loyalty for life. My sister and I were shopping for soccer cleats with my two toddlers, my son gave my sister the slip and took off around the corner. It's a big store, and finding him was going to be difficult. The staff saw what happened and immediately jumped into action, fanned out through the store and found him hiding in a clothing rack. I was already a satisfied customer walking out with the cleats, but the quick action of the employees was everything in that moment of panic. The store is literally a junk yard. Boxes and trash all over EVERY aisle. Good luck trying to even walk around. I'm certain this is a fire hazard as well... Also none of the merchandise is in the right place and there's no price tags for half the items. I went to go buy and tent and only 1 out of 10 of the tents I was looking at had a price tag or a shelf with a price tag. Even better is there's no scanners. So you have to hit a button or walk around the store to try and find someone to help you. It's such a miserable experience. Please at least have price scanners around am I don't have to put in 30 minutes to just get a price check. The sad part is, this has happened many times at this location. Trash and all. Selection sucks period! The selection blows, especially on outdoors stuff. A tiny section for hiking shoes, I couldn't find any outdoors hats other than some lame Quicksilver ones. This is the same thing I experienced at the only other Dick's I've been to. Both locations suck when it comes to getting some help. Sometimes I feel like the workers purposely avoid the customers, especially at the bike department! I guess this place might be good for finding team sports stuff, but for anything outdoors it would behoove you to go to REI located nearby at the Tustin Marketplace. read more

When Chicks turned to Dick's, I was worried. Would the change lead to an identity crises? Would it have the same service and selection? It was always a decent multi- sports store overall,, If you really need help and info, though, you would probably do better to go to a specialty store where they can spend more time with you and give all the info you need. Here, the employees may know a sport or not in the area they are working. I have been coming to Chicks for years to get tennis rackets, tennis balls, and athletic shoes. Well for this one trip for this one service needed, they did pretty well. As a former advanced tennis player working to get my game back, I broke a string practicing a couple of nights ago. I needed it repaired, though I have several rackets, this is my favorite one. I had not set foot in Dicks since it had an operational change. I walked in and they were still doing the last phase of their remodel. I was greeted at the door by a customer service rep. She was sort of a greeter and security person, and directed me to the new tennis area. They had some decent new synthetic gut strings I wanted to try. If you are a long time tennis fan, it's amazing how the new top players play with their all out power and stamina. But also the equipment has changed for all levels of players. Unfortunately, there really was no one to help me decide which one of the synthetic gut strings to try, so I had to rely on the few advertisements I've seen in Tennis magazine which one to pick. The coolest thing, though, is that while they say it takes 7 days to string a racket in their busiest times (spring and summer), they were able to do it overnight! Awesome. With the closing of Hank Lloyd's in Tustin, this is one of two places my friends and I go to get our rackets re-strung. Today, they did very well. read more

Horrible service!!!! Employees passed by me over and over again even after asking for help. All I kept getting was I need to come back. Was looking for shoes and had one on my hand trying to ask for a size and the employee there assisting was not being helpful. He would literally go check on a pair of shoes for one person and come back. Had about 8+ people waiting for help but did not call for help himself. Finally was able to get help by another employee which also never came back with the shoe I asked for. I ended up leaving after waiting for too long. read more

I placed an order online here for two seats, that are made for bleacher sitting.. with backs on them. I placed the order for in store pickup. I received an email stating my order was in process, then another when it was ready - and I received them both pretty quickly. The chairs are for the most part good, after about an hour they arent the most comfortable things, however it is better than nothing on concrete step type stadium seating at a high school football game. I was a bit bummed at the small selection in the store of San Diego Chargers clothing, in womens. I am looking for a tank top, and havent been able to really find one anywhere. I have spent well over thousands of dollars here, but will no longer shop here due to the lack of brains by both the manager and employees. I was trying to use a coupon provided by little league baseball that says 20% off the entire store, and have used the same coupon for all types of things for many years now. Today, the manager said they only honor the coupon for baseball items, and told me, "the coupon is to help families who can't afford items for the season." LMFAO. This is Irvine. He went on to say I am abusing the coupon. It seems to me, from a business standpoint, the coupon is to push sales across the store, because this store should never worry about the sales of baseball items. It should, in fact, focus on slower turnover items (this, this coupon's existence). I don't know who made this moron the manager, but I hope he really goes on to take a business management class. Understand operations from both sales and management perspective, and don't get your panties up in a bunch. EDIT: Drove to Laguna Hills and they applied it with no questions asked. No wonder Dick's is struggling. Visited yesterday and tried to demo golf clubs. After 5 minutes in the department a younger gentleman with dark hair and scruffy beard showed up with an older couple. After their customer conversation I asked if I could demo some clubs. He said "Give me a minute" while remaining seated behind his computer and making several phone calls. I remained in the demo area and he left, never to return. After browsing for ten minutes he noticed me from afar and went another way again. If you want to pay high prices for POOR QUALITY merchandise (bicycle was deemed UNSAFE for child to participate in school bike trip), support a business who WASTES YOUR TIME and FORCES YOU TO SPEND gas driving back and forth because the merchandise is not ready, obtain NO HELP to lift a heavy bicycle in/out of your vehicle (after you have called earlier pleading for help because you have a bad shoulder injury), receive RUDE responses and POOR TREATMENT (when you requested help and potentially related to ethnic/racial discrimination), be HUNG UP on and put on exorbitant hold times because you are trying to explain how upset you were with the TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, then definitely go here to shop. Being the only real large scale sporting goods outfit in the area they usually get my business and being next to Performance Bike which I go as often as weekly I'm here quite a bit. Mouthguards, baselayers, shoe laces, skull caps, etc. Basically all the things any athlete needs. A vast majority of the major sports equipment is available from outdoor kayaks, camping gear, football, hockey, golf, etc. They carry all the major brands from Wilson, Nike, Adidas, UA, etc. Prices are what you would expect at about on average 10% less than retail, but you can't have too high and expectation due to the selection. I actually come here for sports nutrition and accessories like tape, socks, compression versus tops and bottoms and gear. Cycling and running nutrition is a different beast compared to the global brands of Gatorade, Nuun and others, but it's kind of cool to see how the gains of cytomax for cyclists is specific and doesn't get the results camelback gets in sheer heat and more complete and pure proteins are absorbed for gym bulk. It's never packed, but that doesn't mean you're gonna get through the line fast. Parking is never an issue and the store is super huge for browsing, but it's not set up very well and the dressing rooms are a pain to use. It's a bit out of the way, but I have many regular spots nearby I come for like REI, Total Wine and Performance. read more
