Didi is fantastic! All of my girlfriends - and now my mom! - go to Didi for our cuts and color. It all started when I noticed one friend whose hair color was absolutely beautiful; you know it's good color when someone else notices how lovely you look and how it brightens your face. She said she had found Didi and after getting her hair done twice, she was a convert. Now we are all going to Didi and we absolutely love her! Adil and a few others left the salon earlier this year, but Didi is absolutely flourishing at her salon (still in the same spot). She is excellent - and I mean excellent - with color. I first went to Didi after Graham Webb completely ruined my hair - they gave me highlights and then toned all of my hair, effectively making it 3-4 shades lighter than my natural color. (If I wanted all of my hair to be lighter, I would color all of it!!) I went to Didi and asked her to get my hair back to it's natural color with subtle blonde highlights, and she has done a wonderful job with my hair. Didi even put in a tiny bit of chestnut, which my hair has always had but was washed away with the toner from Graham Webb - I'm not sure how she knew, but it looks beautiful. I love my hair even more every single time I walk out of her salon. Didi is almost ready to have her baby, due in June, and she is still working and as kind and sweet as ever! As soon as you enter the salon, you feel like a part of the family. She has great ideas about cuts and knows exactly what color will look best with your skin tone. Since I've been going to Didi, I've received so many compliments and the wonderful question, "Where do you get your color done?" I've referred everyone I know to Didi, and they have all had fabulous experiences!! As to the people who say the cut/color is pricey and the parking is bad - this is nothing compared to DC. Didi's salon is very reasonable for the DC Metro area and are the same as what you'd pay anywhere else (there are salons in DC that will do worse to your hair for way more money). Plus, you are getting an excellent cut and color, and you will not need to get it re-done. It's worth it when it's done right the first time. I'm getting married in September - hence the hurry to get my hair to its proper color - and I'll have Didi do my updos for me and the girls. I have heard she is very talented with updos and I will certainly report back! All I can say is: you will not be disappointed with Didi. Great salon and great people!!! I come to Didi for my cuts, colors, and conditioning treatments. Didi is a very effcient and talented stylist. The salon is professional but also has a very family feel to it. When I first moved to the Arlington area, I tried several other hair salons for cut and color and was not satisified with the service, pricing or the coloring. The first time I went to Didi's it was in a desperate attempt to fix what another salon/product had damaged. Didi was able to help repair the damage that was previously done and gave me an amazing cut and color. She also helped me select products that were lightweight and moisturizing for my often untamely, curly hair. That was 3.5 years ago and since then I come regularly for my cuts and colors. I usually go to Didi for my cuts and colors, but I have also had Mary before and receivied a very solid cut. The salon prices are very reasonable, especially in comparison to other top rated salons in the Arlington area. The only thing missing from Didi's is an updated website so I can stay in the loop with holiday hours, specials, etc. read more

I love the idea of a mom and pop / husband wife combo whatever - small independent business, and I'm sure that if you want traditional non-funky color to your traditional easy-going no mess hair, then you will love the customer service and probably walk away with just what you want. I however like sleek stylings with crazy colors and healthy (relative) minimal processing -- I was not satisfied, I think my request was a stretch that would have better been met by one of my favorite salons in NYC, I like edgy looks so I was disappointed, but everyone was nice about it. I don't want to point any fingers, just to warn you if you want a crazy look, it's probably best you go to a crazier salon! read more

I have regular blonde highlights and couldn't be more happy with the color. She is fast completing the foils. I am usually in and out within an hour. Try to book early in the morning or later in the evening. On occasion things can get backed up so you might have to wait 10-15 mins. if your appointment is in the middle of the day. Everyone is friendly and polite. Parking is limited so try to be to your appointment early. read more

Didn't listen, didn't give me the right color, her alternative was damaging to my hair ): I'm puerto rican with extremely curly/dry but incredibly strong, I've had my hair bleached going on 6 years now. Went to many different salons/had it done with many different methods. This by far was the worst and most damaging. After looking for hours for a salon my sister suggested we come to this shop she's seen on her way to work. I came in with platinum blonde hair, a good 2-3 inches of dark brown roots & hot pink bangs. Upon entering I was laughed at, but just smiled it off. I was scheduled for an hour later, and once I got there I was told I was damaging my beautiful hair. She applied bleach to my roots, and blonde highlights to the pink bangs. She lifted my roots to a copper orange and I asked multiple times for her to put a platinum toner in but she refused. The highlights did not work. I suggest she just bleach the pink and put a toner on the roots but she said it would all break my hair off. So then she put a mud brown dye over the pink....that partly took and partly did not take, I left the salon with copper roots, platinum hair, mud brown bangs/sidebands with pink still showing through. She scheduled me in the next day free of charge to fix it. However she still didn't listen. No toner. No bleach. She put highlights back over the bangs and did it until they were on the verge of breaking off. She forgot one side of my sidebangs. So now my hair is copper roots, platinum hair, white bangs with tints of pink, the right side has light brown strands with the platinum and the left side has mud brown. Like a rainbow of different colors... I talked to the usual colorist who does my hair and she told me that the lady had no clue what she was doing and also instructed me on how my hair should have been done and what was/was not damaging. I greatly appreciate how nice they were and how they attempted to fix it for free, but I will not be returning. read more

Came here for the first time over the weekend and had a great experience with Didi. Got full blonde highlights and a cut/blowdry for $150 which is decent for some of the places in this area. My highlights came out great- she knew just what I wanted/needed, and I loved the cut too. The whole process was quick (yet I never felt rushed) and she didnt try to upsell me on anything, like they usually do. Highly recommend!! I will absolutely return. read more

Hole in the wall place that wasn't absolutely terrible but not absolutely great. I only got a simple wash and cut. Nothing special. All the parking lot was marked permit or tenant parking only so I was afraid of getting towed . Also no words were spoken throughout the cut mainly due to the language barrier. Also I went because of the recommendation for student discounts. Online it says 20% off for students yet she only gave me less than 10%. Like I said, not the worst place but definitely not impressed and doubtful that I'll return. my cut was ok , nothing special . read more

This is a genuine customer review, unlike many of the other reviews on Yelp. I have gone to Didi for haircuts and coloring for a couple years now. Didi provides value equal to downtown salons and I don't have to go downtown or pay for the overhead of a downtown salon. Her location is great - close to Clarendon and it has parking. There was a period around May when the salon was closed, but this period is happily over and Didi is back. Didi does a great job on the color and a very careful job on my hair. She fusses a lot with it to get it right. I was very very happy with the results of the last two haircut/color appointments. read more

I was refused service at 6:30pm despite both being listed open till 8 as well as being told the day prior to "walk in any time before 8" the next day. Inclement weather closed the salon down the previous day, understandable. However I was told I could come back today and be taken care of anytime before 8, no appointment needed. What she should have told me is they don't take walk ins after 6:30 appointments only. I wouldn't have elected to walk here from work only to pay an uber to take me to my meeting unkempt. I generally don't leave yelp reviews but I feel like I have to say something. I came here based on the good reviews and because it was close by to my new apartment. Didi was super sweet and able to fit me in right away, which also makes this review difficult to write. The consultation went good and I loved the laidback atmosphere. However, I could tell something was off simply by the way she cut my layers and that it took her only an hour to cut, color, and style my hair. But once my hair was curled and done it looked fine so I didn't question it. I truly thought I had found my new go-to salon. The horror happened the next day when I decided to blow dry and straighten my hair. I was shocked to discover that it looked like someone cut my layers with a lawn mower. I also noticed that my hair is darker where she colored it versus where my hometown hair stylist colored. I was mortified. I luckily had a trip to my parents house coming up so my hometown hair stylist was able to fix this terrible haircut. She told me that DiDi didn't put in as many foils as my thicker hair needed and therefore you could visibly see the transition from DiDi's coloring to her last coloring. I'm sad to say that I will not be returning here in the future. It's not worth the stress and the price of an additional haircut to fix all the mess ups. read more

I trusted yelp and went to Didi & Adil for a haircut. I recently moved to the area and was looking for a place I could go to long term. I have long, thick hair, and just needed a trim, plus my hair is so thick I never have them blow dry me because it takes too long and I don't like the extra heat damage. Usually that means the cost is slightly less, but not here. It was still $50. As for the haircut, it was okay, but nothing really special. The lady barely let me explain what I wanted, and so my layers could have been shorter and my bangs weren't done very well, but it was getting late and I didn't want to stay there much longer. I say that because, during my haircut, there was a guy hanging out there whom another lady (who worked in the salon) was yelling at. They were "friends" I guess so it wasn't violent or anything, but just super awkward and unprofessional. Something about hating his haircut he just got, and telling him to do her laundry, "omg I hate you don't talk to me ever again! hee hee!" etc. It was so weird and awkward, this lady shrieking at the dude. My stylist was laughing it off, like "oh look, those two are at it again..." but it was so bizarre. So, my search for a permanent salon continues. read more

Quite some time ago, I utilized a shampoo that didn't work with my natural hair chemistry, and essentially destroyed my hair. I have been dealing with getting out some of these problems ever since. When I nervously came here, I told my stylist two things- it needs to be easy (I have curly hair and don't own a blow dryer), and I needed to be able to put my hair in a pony tail. The cut I got was fantastic. It will help me grow out my hair so I can get rid of the dead ends and and I LOVE what she did with my bangs. I am so happy to have found a salon that does great work and listens to their customers. As an FYI- I also got my eyebrow waxed there. It was fine, but I prefer Pearl Nail Salon up the street, so I will probably be skipping that service from now on. read more

Got great highlights/lowlights here last Friday. Can't figure why I hadn't gone back sooner. I had been jumping around because I am lazy and tend to decide at the last minute to get my hair done when I can squeeze it in. Called and they got me right in with Didi. Highlights are great, perfect color, no 'root margin' like some places. Ladies there are super nice. Price is very reasonable too. Will definitely go back and recommend. I decided to go to Didi and Adil because of the good reviews here and I'm here to keep they're five stars! I went there twice: cut and color. Both times I just called and asked if they could cut / color in the same day... I told them I wasn't in a rush, so I could wait. They told me to come and I didn't wait too long at all (both times). Adil cut my hair and he did a great job! My hair was all straight and I wanted some layers, but to keep the length, and he did it! It has been two weeks and I don't have a lot of split ends! He must have used a good scissor. Yesterday I went to color my hair and Didi also did a great! Although I had the idea to have my hair darker than it is, actually, she just followed what I said - as I said to get closer to my roots. But she told me to come back if I'd wanted it darker. Sooo I was going to review my haircut with Adil I had awhile ago (nothing special overall but not bad- HATED my bangs though) but apparently he's left the salon according to some other reviews. The salon itself is small but I had no trouble booking a short notice appointment, the location is convenient to the Clarendon metro, and the price is right. I had a full highlight appointment yesterday with Adil. When I got there she was just starting highlights on another customer, so she said Maria would do my highlights. I was a bit nervous because I hadn't read any reviews on Maria (and the reviews for Adil was why I came to the salon). But Maria was so sweet and spent the most time and used the most foils on my highlights then anyone else before. The color turned out great and I already have my next appointment with Maria booked! The atmosphere of the salon is very calm and pleasant and it looked like Didi and Adil have great relationships with many of their customers. I did not give a full five stars because my final bill was more then I was told over the phone and because they switched my colorist at the last minute, which was a little stressful. But overall I had a great experience and I have found my new salon in Arlington! read more

What a wonderful at home like feeling in this salon! I have gone to Didi for over 10 years. When she was a color specialist in DC I used to travel out of the way to have her provide her services. And now, with her having her own business closer to home, I am a more faithful customer than ever. There is nothing better than outstanding work done by someone who is truly experienced and is a master at what they do. Just had my first experience with this salon. First, I was able to get an appointment as late as the night before (most Arlington salons couldn't schedule me for color for 2-4 weeks!). Second, it's incredibly affordable considering how beautiful my hair turned out -- Didi did an incredible job covering my grey's but leaving me with my natural color. Went here for the first time a few weeks ago for a cut and color with Didi. By far, the BEST salon experience I've had EVER. And, I have been to A LOT of salons in the area. There was no waiting, no double booking (I've had triple booking before) and its the most natural (aside from the natural gray being gone!) looking hair color I've had in the last 20 years. I flew in from out of town and needed a last minute 1960's style updo for a themed wedding reception. Lily is absolutely as good as it gets. Her professionalism and expertise is only outmatched by her beautiful spirit. My date and I were so pleased with how the updo came out and we received many compliments that night.
