I have been to a lot of stylists in Burlingame, but Christina is by far the best I have ever been to. I went to her at Trio until she disappeared one day. Thankfully, I found her here again. She is so much fun, takes risks, and has great ideas about how to make your hair unique, healthy, and beautiful. She also works surprisingly quickly. She did such a good job last time I got my hair cut that I haven't had to get my hair cut again since December! It still does what I want it to and cooperates when I use the products she recommended. Her mastery might be working against her because I'm not sure when I will ever have to get my hair cut again! But I know that when I do, I will certainly go see her. read more

Read the reviews and was highly recommended by an ex-coworker. I love this place. Wish there was a way to deduct only .25 of a star for the most of the time limited parking in downtown Burlingame. I'm not high maintenance at all, I usually brush my hair and run out the door wet hair and all, no blow drying needed. I have medium length hair and couldn't care less about how most of it looked but I will pretty much cry if my side bangs looked like crap. I've gone from place to place trying to find someone who could do a great job consistently. My first appointment was with Sydney and she was awesome! The bangs were perfect and I felt like I needed to go somewhere fancy so I wouldn't waste a nicely cut and styled head of hair. Also, I can admit I'm socially awkward but Sydney was very easy to talk to. The second appointment, Sydney was on leave but I badly needed a cut so I went with whoever was available. Unfotunately, I don't remember her name but she also did a great job. I think this haircut cost less since I was a returning customer. My third experience at this place, I just dropped by for a free bang trim. Sydney was with a client but I trusted that whoever they had available would not make me look horrific. Again, I don't remember the name of the lady that helped me this time. Three different people have cut my side bangs here and all three have done an awesome job. I've been going to Logan to get my hair done for maybe 3 years now? That's longer than I've been in relationships with boyfriends! I first found Logan after lots of research. I had waist long hair and wanted to donate to Locks of Love and other charities in need of hair. I've donated a couple times now and my hair is now just to my shoulders. It was a big step cutting off that much hair but Logan made me feel comfortable and great about it the whole way! Sure, at $70+ dollars pre-tip it isn't the cheapest haircut in the world by far, but you get a lot for your money. Logan has always been helpful, easy to converse with, and really in tune with what I wanted for my hair. The one time we didn't match up on my desires (when I wanted a full color) he did a complementary re-do. Every cut I've gotten from him has turned heads and garnered complements. read more

I too went to this salon after finding it on YELP. I haven't found a hair stylist that I've been impressed with for quite some time now but Hourig is amazing! She really listens to what type of style you are looking for and is willing to give you her opinion on whether it would fit or not. I came in with a general idea of what I wanted and she took the time to sit down with me and talk about it while giving me different options before she started. Thank you Hourig! It's official- I'm in love! I'm one of those people who has never, and I mean *never* gotten a good haircut anywhere I've ever gone- until yesterday, that is! I brought in pictures and was greeted with "yay, you brought pictures- that way we're on the same page!!" instead of "why did you want that style?" I was finally able to get the color and style I had been trying to get for years (seriously, I've brought the same pictures to my last 3 haircuts and they've looked nothing like what I have now!) I followed Lana from a place in san francisco to Didi's down in burlingame because she is so worth the drive! Lana has everything going for her- so friendly and nice, and she rocks my blonde hair! Didi at Didi Salon is amazing! Last year I had a fairly bad haircut at another salon, Didi came to the rescue and fixed my hair. I have been going to her ever since! Didi is excellent with color and cuts, a rare find. It can be hard to find someone who can color blond hair without making it look over processed, or fake. Didi uses different techniques to achieve different levels of color, the outcome a perfect natural looking blond! Didi Salon is also open on Sundays, which can be a perfect day for stay at home moms, or working moms to get their hair done! 5 stars for sure, 6 if I could! read more

I hesitantly made an appointment for a haircut at Didi's for Sunday. I've been going to the same lady for years and even though she was cheap, I was bored with my hair. I'm pretty adventurous about hair if I'm hair modeling but if I'm shelling out the bucks, I'm pretty picky about whose touching and doing the hair. But I wanted change and I heard good things about the salon and Christina so I made the appointment. The salon is trendy but comfortable and the cut I got from Christina is awesome. I only had two requests...keep the length and more face framing. I have loads of layers and movement and it's much lighter than before. I'm ecstatic with it! Review is for Nikki: Horrible experience second time around...Wednesday night I had a bang trim scheduled for 5:30pm (salon is about a 20min drive from my house), my stylist was out grabbing coffee & didn't seat me till 5:50pm. She had 1client she was working on already (highlights), 2nd client (me) & 3rd client (men's hair cut) waiting for her. Around 6pm I was asked what style of bangs I wanted...I showed her 3 pictures: Bridget Bardot bangs (mind you, for years I had) she stated she knew exactly the style I wanted...6 minutes later, my bangs are super short (above my eyebrows), not nearly close to what I wanted. She proceeded to tell me, it was my hair, "doesn't fall right." Are you f'ing kidding me?!? I then show her pics of my in the past w/ Bridget Bardot bangs/curtain bangs & fringe bangs. She says "sorry it was a miscommunication." How so?! I showed her pictures, explained what I wanted...hmm, more like the stylist being backed up, in a rush, half listening...what upsets me more, is her blaming me, saying "miscommunication/ hair not falling right." I was still sitting in the chair trying to figure out what & how the hell I would style these too short horrible bangs when she started walking away saying, "i gotta go, I have clients waiting." At that point, I just got up & left...I walked out w/ tears in my eyes...not only have I been trying to grow out a pixie, but now I'm growing out horrible bangs...Nikki, please be honest with your clients, if you're backed up, reschedule. Or if you don't know how to cut certain styles, say so...I would have understood/appreciated had respect for your honesty. Instead I drove out all that way, waited 36mins for horrid bangs. read more

I am reversing a previous "5 star" rating I wrote a few years back. I have been going to Didi for years, since 2004 when she was at Trio. So had been happy with her for years. But I am writing this review negatively now, b/c for the past 2+ years her coloring has been inconsistent. I have naturally light brown hair and go in for blonde highlights. More often than not during the past 2 years, I go in for blonde highlights... and come out with hair that is more brown than blonde. I have held my tongue and thought "ok will discuss with Didi next time I see her" for the majority of these past 2 yrs. If you like a stylist, you care about the relationship, you know ? But I finally spoke up when this happened a few months ago. After "fixing" it (IE, kicking the color up a few notches so it was blonde) I thought this issue was resolved. But... during another recent visit (last week), it was back to square one with the dark hair vs blonde highlights. When I complained, Didi offered to "fix it" but I have to wait 3 weeks. Which I am unhappy about. IE, I am stuck with a color I do not like for a few weeks. Also it's hard enough to make time given my busy work + personal schedule to make the original color appointment. Let alone an additional "fix" visit. So basically : I am paying a lot of $$$, not getting the color I want, and then having havoc wrecked on my schedule for "fix" appointments. For Didi offering to "fix" my hair, the first time was nice. But at this point, it should not have to happen. Esp since she just "fixed" a botched color job only 3 months back. IE, she should remember what to do / not do colorwise given that was such a short time ago. I have been seeing Didi for 8 years. She should understand my hair at this point. So she's either lost her color mojo... or she's being passive agressive. Neither of which is acceptable. Especially when I think about how often I frequent her salon (color, cuts, keratin, buy all my shampoos, buy my brushes, flatirons etc there). IE, I am regular customer who spends a few $$$$ each year at her salon. Lastly, being unhappy with this color job - I am about to head out to a college girlfriends reunion. IE, a weekend where since we have not seen each other in so long, we obviously will be taking a lot of photos. So, my "dark" hair that I am unhappy with & paid a few $$$ for will be captured forever in the reunion pictures. Ultimately - if you want consistent color results - suggest you see a colorist other than Didi. read more

Although she doesn't seem to be mentioned much in the reviews, Michele is a top notch stylist. For anyone who has had issue finding a skilled AND friendly stylist around here, you know how I felt 7 years ago before I met Michele. In 7 years, I have NEVER walked out of the salon with nothing but LOVE for my hair. She is real, she will give her opinion but will not push it on me, ultimately I have the final say... which is really important to me. (Although, she knows me so well by now, her suggestions are always wonderful and I completely trust whatever she wants to do to my hair). I would recommend anyone to see Michele, and all the important ladies in my life do (friends & family also see Michele, and have for a long time). In 3 weeks I will be moving to Sacramento (Michele's hometown!?) and I will still continue to come down to Burlingame to get my hair done by Michele, no doubt. The salon is very cozy & cute...the best looking one around that area! Didi should be so proud! All of the other stylists I have spoken with are super nice and helpful. Such a pleasant environment... Didi is awesome! I have always had issues with my hairstylists. I usually come out looking like a china doll or a geisha. Thank goodness I found Didi. She knows how to cut and color Asian hair without making you look trashy or cheap. She cuts my mom's hair as well and I am proud to say that my mother looks quite young and hip every time Didi gives her a new do. I just checked out Didi's new salon today and am ecstatic for her. I went to Didi Salon for the first time last Friday and had a wonderful experience. I had read reviews on Yelp and decided to make an appointment with Christina. She is not only a darling little spitfire but is an excellent stylist as well. I have longish curly hair that I also sometimes wear straight and both ways are challenging most of the time! She gave me a cut that is easy to work with and looks awesome both curly and straight. I highly recommend her! After weeks of getting convinced by my friend to try Didi Salon, I finally made an appointment last Friday. Well let me tell you, I was about to actually give them a bad rating because whoever it was that took my call, supposedly booked me for noon on Saturday. So there I was, trying to haul my ass to the salon at noon, frantically looking for parking; and once I finally found one, I ran to the salon, all sweaty but excited to get a haircut. However, as soon as I said, "Hi, I have an appointment with Rhea at noon, sorry I'm about 10 minutes late," they just looked at me like 'who the heck are you and what are you talking about?'. It turns out I was misbooked, and my actual appointment was not until Sunday. I was definitely P.O.ed, but I thought I'd give them a shot the following day (that is if they actually booked me properly this time). So today came... rolled into the salon at noon and met my stylist Rhea. I must say despite the scheduling snafu, I was impressed by her professionalism. I basically came in there not knowing what to do with my long hair and really wanted an expert to give me some input on what would suit my face, and Rhea definitely helped me with that. I've tried a few salons in the Bay Area since moving here 5 years ago, and most of them generally don't give me much hairstyle suggestions in terms of what would compliment my facial structure. She also gave me a fantastic head massage while shampooing my hair! I also brought up the fact that I have wavy hair though I've wished for as long as I can remember that I had soft straight hair. Instead of convincing me to do straightening treatments, she actually gave me some easy styling tips that would help me play with the natural wave I already have. She made me feel confident and more at ease with styling. I would definitely go back to her! I would have given them a 5 star if I could but since I wasted gas the day before from the mis-scheduling, I'm giving them a 4 for now. read more

I got a long layered haircut by Katie, who is a self-professed "hair nerd." As soon as she said that, I knew I could trust her. Apparently long layers is her specialty, and she took time to make sure that the amount of layers, volume, and shape of my hair was to my liking. She really cared about how I liked the cut, and she loves her job -- she's just the kind of stylist that you want to cut your hair! She also gave me good tips on how to maintain and style my hair. She listened to exactly what I wanted - and with her fashion forward, modern and tasteful esthetic, she took my idea to a whole other level. Everywhere I go, people make a point to come up to me and ask who did my hair - from French filmmakers to CEOs in the tech world. Nicole at Didi salon is the absolute best! I have searched a long time for somebody who was excellent with blondes and I am so glad I have found Nicole! She does an amazing job with highlights...every time I leave the salon my hair is the perfect shade of blonde and the highlight are very even. Almost two years have gone by, and I only trust Christina with my hair... she took my medium length out of control curly hair to a sheek A-Line. She made my hair an added accessory, and I LOVE her for it. She is very attentive to what I like, but also suggests great possibilities for hair and style- - She is always taking on-going education classes for the newest hair techniques, services, and styles- - I am actually going to schedule and appointment for the Brazillian Blow-Out with her. i went in yesterday to meet with lisa, she needed a hair model and i was lucky enough to get the spot. ive walked by the salon about a dozen times and always thought "hey, i need to try this place" i was not disappointed. the inside is super cute with the sweetest receptionist. there are magazines and tvs with lots of soaps on. lisa really listened to me. she understood what i was saying and gave me an amazing cut. i have tons and tons of thick wavy hair. i have problems styling it b/c it takes for ever and never holds. now i have a shorter layered bouncy cut. it's fabulous. i've gotten a ton of compliments on it. i can't wait to go back and see her again. read more

I have been coming to Didi's since it opened, and like every woman, I am picky who touches and cuts my hair. It took me a few years to find the right hairdresser/stylist until I arrived at Didi's. I was originally a client of Didi's even since Trio. One year Didi was out and I desperately needed a haircut, and the receptionist recommended Logan, so I thought I would give him a try. I admit I was a little nervous because it would be the first time working with him, but in the end it was great. Since then, I have been going to Logan and I love each haircut. He listens to what I want, offers up suggestions, and brings life to my hair. The staff is welcoming and environment is modern and tasteful. read more

Unfortunately, I wasn't as impressed with Didi's Salon. I had my hair cut by Christina. She was friendly and gave a great head massage while washing my hair. However, the hair cut itself was mediocre. She simply cut straight across the back, not give the cut any definition. Then, she went nuts with the texturizing scissors (rarely a good sign). When blowing my hair dry, she yanked it so hard with the round brush that hairs started breaking off and splintering. After the haircut, besides an aching scalp, it seemed that I had more split ends than when I started. It was definitely not the worst hair cut I've received. I suppose if the hair cut had been about $25 less, I'd give it 3 stars. But, if I'm paying $65 in the 'burbs for a hair cut, it better be stunning. It was not. Yay! My first review, with MUCH delay! I'm really pick with my hair, not because it's great, but because it's fine and difficult to deal with. I went to Christina after searching for a well reviewed hairdresser for hours on the internet. On Yelp, Didi seems to be the most reputable, and Christina the most praised! And I will join that band wagon... I went to her at the end of April (as I said, I'm a bit late with my review), and she really listened to what I wanted, but also gave her opinion. Together we came up with a style that really works for me, and was a bit of a change as well. It's really obvious that it is important for her to build a relationship with her customer, and that's priceless! The salon is a bit pricey, but honestly, any salon that you go to in the Peninsula that is not Super Cuts will cost you a bit. I went to four different salons in San Mateo and Burlingame for a consultation before going to Didi, and the prices only ranged within $10ish of each other. I'll definately be back to Christina when my hair needs to be done again! read more

Having moved the Bay area after far too many years in LA, I've spent a lot of time looking for a salon and stylist that felt right. I had been going to the same stylist for many years in LA, so finding someone that was right for me here was a lot of work (sounds like dating, doesn't it?). After some false starts and near-misses I consider myself very fortunate to have found, thanks to reviews here, Didi Salon and Logan. I showed him my passport photo, which was the best example I had of how I like my hair, and he not only matched it he surpassed it. He and the staff are friendly and personable, and the atmosphere in the salon is excellent. These folks are going to be stuck with me for quite a while! read more

Went for my first time yesterday!! Had an appointment scheduled in January but put my name down for any earlier openings and they called me at 10AM for a 12PM! Major points for actually calling me w earlier availability! I went in and saw Brenda for a color correction -- she is AWESOME! Understood exactly what I wanted (take away brassy blonde/patches and give me a strawberry brown w hints of dimension) and is a total sweetheart! As for the salon, the whole ambience is very chic/stylish yet the girls are very classy and professional. Prices are very affordable--hard to find in Burlingame! Plus, Didi keeps the place fun but well kept! She also cares about all her clients and not just those she is styling herself, she popped in during my session to ask my artist what she was up to!! Logan is a sweetheart and easy to talk to, which I don't think is always the case with my other stylists. I told him that I wanted more of a sweeping bang and he let me know that its not going to be perfect yet, because of the way my hair already is, but I'm welcome to come in for bang trims. I liked my hair cut here. However, customer service was lacking. There was no customer/client card asked to be filled out or no follow up appointment asked to be set up. Because of this I did not feel a rapport with my hair stylist and decided to keep looking elsewhere.
