I make sure I always buy my hair products from here due to a small business and how I'm personally treated. Front desk Tawfiq is my favorite! He's always positive and has a warm loving very kind attitude and he's always nice to anyone and everyone who walks through the salon greeting them asking if they want some sort of beverage, very nice to be greeted by such nice people. This review is specifically for Tamy! I have been going to Tamy for has to be over 5 years now and I can't believe I have not written a review yet. She is truly a professional. She loves what she does, punctual/sticks to her appointments, and listens to her clients. When I first went to her, I had full natural hair--super boring and I wanted to do something fun. We did a full chop to shoulder length hair and did babylights. Looking at her portfolio, and consulting her about what would look good on me, we decided to do babylights with money pieces to really brighten and frame my face. It was a hair transformation I didn't know I needed! I've been hooked ever since and now only trust Tamy to work her magic on me. And obviously when I had my wedding in December 2024, I of course booked with Tamy to get me looking my best. I asked for my hair color to be close to my natural hair color, I didn't want anything too different for my wedding pictures. Tamy knew exactly what to do, and even cut framing pieces for me so that my hair/makeup artist would have pieces to work with for my up-do. I will continue to go to her because she is professional, her prices are very reasonable, and she listens and exceeds my expectations every time. For the salon itself, I've always had friendly interactions with the staff there. Parking can be tough on the weekends, but parking lots and structures are readily available for a few dollars so I always pay for the 3 hours that I expect to be in Tamy's chair. This review is specifically for Marwan. I recently had went to him and wanted to do balayage to my hair. He then told me he doesn't use bleach on his clients. So i didn't know what to expect. My hair came out like old school highlights. I told him this is not what i wanted. I do not recommend anyone to book with him at Tamers salon. Even his customer service wasn't pleasant. This is the tale of three sisters who were born with beautiful curly hair and as they aged and got busy struggled to stay pretty. About 7 years ago, a gorgeous , magical hair fairy, named, Janna Dughman worked her magic and tamed their locks with perfect cuts, and for me keratin treatments, and kept the grey away. Janna is an artist with color and blending highlights. She is professional and a perfectionist. She is also a very kind person who listens to her customers but will give good advice and superb product recommendations. Janna works mostly weekends now, as she is raising young girls, but she puts so much care into everything that she does, that it is worth waiting for an appointment with her. I am the oldest and most spontaneous sister. Occasionally i get frustrated with my hair and i wait too long between appointments and act on a whim- I am always sorry and pay the price for " cheating " because i was on vacation, or saw a Groupon. Alex my middle sister is loyal and methodical and always follows the rules. She knows what works for her and never goes more than 6 weeks between appointments. Vanessa, our youngest sister, who got the enviable wavy, honey colored, least frizzy hair is the most like Janna herself, a perfectionist with super high standards. She was a city girl for decades and probably would have continued to trudge to San Francisco had we not raved about Janna. She was wary prior to the appointment, but has been a faithful customer since. My sisters and I are tough customers with tough to style hair. We have a lot of it and it is curly and frizzy to varying degrees. My sisters are natural blondes and I am brunette but all three of us are battling gray at 52, 49 and 43. I told her I wanted to get my hair ready for engagement shoots, so slightly back to my natural color but with different tones for dimension, and she totally did that for me! She's really good at her job and does it quick but well! She is also incredibly friendly and wonderful to talk to. Booking was super easy and she was very responsive to all my texts. The salon itself is very clean and spacious. There were a handful of clients when I was there but I still felt like I had my own space. My hair is curly. Not a little curly, VERY curly. Brazilian blowouts have been a godsend and I get one every 3 months like clockwork. Many salons offer the treatment but to truly appreciate the transformative nature of the product the application is *really* important -- you need a stylist that is patient and thorough enough to carefully get every strand. So when my long time stylist stopped doing hair (gasp!) it took nearly a year of trying out different high-end salons and getting satisfactory but not great results before I found Christina. Christina is AWESOME. She's a pro. She did the same treatment I had received at other salons but the difference noticeably better after doing the Brazilian treatment Christina. And now that she's at Tamer Mickels salon she has access to even better tools for the job -- including a giant air machine that sucks up the fumes. It's like my favorite superhero got even more super powers! I can rave enough about her, I can only say I am so grateful to have found her because Brazilian blowouts are a time-consuming and pricey treatment and having the right person do them makes a world of difference. LEXI BABA is truly amazing. I went to get a re-touch, cut/ style for myself, and H/C for my 2 daughters for the first time. Lexi was able to get us in right away. Got lucky and just happened to walk in when Tamer got a cancellation. He typically books 1-3 weeks in advance and I can see why. We talked about what I wanted (I'm clueless) and he had some suggestions. They sounded good and he got right to work. A few clips here and a few clips there. Here a buzz there a buzz. Then a wash wash here and presto. I looked amazing. I know! Not even possible but true. He gave me a great new style that fit me very well. He was quick and held up a great conversation. April Ann is AMAZING! I recently moved to Peninsula and was looking for someone who specializes in Balayage, Ombre and Asian hair in my area. My hair was long, black and boring for many years and I wanted something different and fresh. I went with a lob (long bob) with some texture and Balayage/ombre. This sweet son/mother duo agreed to take care of me even though it was Easter Sunday. I went in for my consultation and felt right at home. WIne, smiles, encouragement, and an hour later a pretty good looking up-do. 2. Great at what they do!!!! Although my trial updo looked pretty good, Nuha insisted it would look much better if I got a trim and some highlights. I HATE cutting my hair and have never highlighted it, but for some reason I trusted her and Tamer. He agreed to fit me in, one week before the wedding. Their confidence had me feeling sold! 3. Dinna is looking for long term clients, so will put in the extra work. I came here for an ombre & cut, and enjoyed the experience. I knew that I was taking a risk by picking the absolute lightest red. I wasn't too sure about it when I was done, but thought I'd give it a try anyway to be bold. As warned by Dinna, the lighter it is, the quicker it'd fade. Soon enough, it did fade. So just some friendly advice, do not go the lightest shade if you want it to last more than a week or so. I remember she had mentioned something about glazing in a couple of weeks, so I asked her about it. She squeezed me in early in the morning (for the 2nd time in a row), and that is always always always appreciated. She put some more color into my hair, and this time a deeper red. Many (many) years ago, I met a 'new' stylist at a salon in Burlingame named Christina. She was just starting out and although she was old enough to be my daughter, I was very impressed with not just her skill set, but her personality! Despite the distance, I just knew that I had to see her as my hair just hadn't been the same since I moved (despite living in a trendy, big city), so I booked an appointment which took place earlier today. Beyond the joy I felt in reconnecting with her as a human, her skill set has only gotten BETTER (which is hard to fathom since she was already the best I'd ever had)! There's a reason she is a Master Colorist/Stylist and I greatly benefitted from not only her talents, but her integrity in doing what works best for me. I trust her judgment 100% and just let her run with it and she hit it out of the park! I got a hair cut by Gianna. I have gotten hair cuts from Her before and have always loved them! Long over due I asked her if she had any appointments and she fit me in RIGHT away! All I wanted was my long hair cut short and I gave her freedom on shape and the length I wanted and man was I not disappointed! 14 inches cut off! My natural hair is jet black, thick, wavy and a lot of it. I went to my previous hair stylist 4 times to go blonde and I never came out blonde. The top layer of my hair was very brassy and my hair underneath was still black and the bottom of my hair was was red.....all of that after 4 times of going to a blonde specialist! My hair never grew because it was so damaged from the ends. Beverly honestly SAVED my hair! My hair never looked this good!! I've got so many compliments on my hair, something I've never experienced before. But the BEST part of it is that my hair is finally blonde, healthy, shiny, and full of life. I can actually run my fingers through my hair. I went to Beverly with high expectations and she delivered amazingly, she surpassed my expectations. I purchased a single process hair coloring for Tamer Mickel with Gianna Cavalieri from Living Social After meeting her for a free consultation, I booked a single process color and partial highlights for February 16 at 11am! When I arrived on 2/16 the guy at the front looked at me funny when I told him I had an appointment today. He asked me, "are you sure it's today?" Well Duhh!!!! Why would I show up on my only day off this week? Apparently Gianna booked me for March 16!!! She just shrugged and said "Well I don't know how that happened." She asked me to return an hour later, because she's working on someone else's hair, and she could squeeze me in! Great! I left to run some errands. I decided to return a little late and not come right at 12 because I figured if she started working on the other chick's hair at 11am I'm pretty sure she would not be done by 12pm. While I was driving back she called me and asked me to reschedule because she only had 45 minutes to work on my hair and I was late. WTF!?!?!?! Does she seriously think I would come back at 12 so she can do a single process color, partial highlights, and blow dry in 45 minutes?!?! I would rather go to another salon that would take the time to work on my hair instead of rush to do a single process color and partial highlights in 45 minutes!!!! What a waste of time and gas! Thank goodness Living Social gives refunds! She also never apologized. As if it was my fault that she booked me for March 16 when I clearly told her last week that I wanted an appointment for February 16!! Also, I lost $2 because I had already paid the meter! read more

Here's the thing, I've had Tamer before and he's OK, but Brooke on the other hand, EPIC FAIL. I just don't understand how a young hairdresser does not have the concept of something as simple as style? I received the exact cut that I told her I did not want! Why couldn't I just get a trim at least? It's not even nor does the cut even make sense. As for the colour, thank god I didn't get highlights. I told her I did not want chunky striped highlights on the top of my hair, but rather I would like subtle peek-a-boo low lights. Instead I got chunky highlights everywhere but the top of my head. She even put highlights on the baby hairs on the sides of my head. The base colour she used was a plain brown even though she told me she would keep my base (ash medium brown). And now you can see the dye over my roots didn't lift. I was worried when she asked her coworker what precise number of product to use while I was at the sink. I started thinking why would Tamer hire her if she didn't know what she was doing? I put my trust in Tamer and got over my worries. When I went to pay, their square wasn't working. They swiped my card so many times that my bank blocked my card! I looked at them like, don't you know the bank blocks the card when you swipe more than 3 times?! I remained calm as I called my bank. Not to mention two employees, Brooke included, treated me differently when my card wasn't going through. They made me feel like I couldn't afford to pay them when that wasn't it at all. It was the salon who's square wasn't working. Tamer's wife was the only decent and professional one who tried her best to handle the situation. Afterwards I went to the bank and as the teller shook her head at the fact that the salon had swiped my card a total of 7 times! The teller was very understanding and sweet. Why would a high-end salon hire someone who has no sense in style, a person who isn't confident to give her clients what they ask for? Her work was so low class. I wouldn't be this irritated had I went to a random lower-end salon. Finally, Brooke consistently kept asking me my age. I found it really strange that's he proceeded to ask me. The subject eventually changed and after my wash and back to my chair she proceeded to ask me again! I felt like I was forced to tell her my age! Advice: take some more classes. Learn how to bayalage and if you hate your job, don't take it out on your clients. read more

I called and spoke to the receptionist and explained that I had a bad highlighting job and wanted a stylist who was an expert with blondes. I was booked with K. She seemed to understand what I was looking to fix and was confident she could create positive change. Now, when I left the salon I thought my hair looked pretty good. The stylist worked really really fast which was alarming but I figured she was a professional. I've gotten highlights for many years and the reason they take so long is because sloppy ends up looking really bad. I told her "wow, you work really fast" to which she replied she had been doing this so long it was second nature to her. Thinking back on my experience looking at the stylist's face at the station next to me, I thought her expression was kinda off as if perhaps she may not like K since they didn't really speak to each other. No, way wrong, she looked like that because of the HOT MESS this woman did to my hair. When I got home and put my hair up I almost had a nervous breakdown. I had TWO HUGE streaks on the right side of my head like the Bride of Frankenstein except they were blonde. AND I had a HUGE STREAK on the front of my head. I wear my hair up often so for the past several months I've had to wear my hair down all the time. The highlights were not blended at all and she basically added larger pieces of a brighter color to my already messy head. It just looked so bad and because this was suppose to be a fix it job....I can't and couldn't do anything about it. What really makes me upset is that the receptionist booked me with this "expert" because "she is a blonde herself so she really knows color"....blatantly untrue. read more
