Typically I'm prepared. That wasn't the case during a recent camping trip. I was running low on those green camper propane tanks. Where in the hell would I find these around Bodega Bay? First, I would be lucky to find a store. Second, if I managed to find one would they carry these? Lastly, I would probably pay a huge convenience price. Prices were fair literally! Some items were comparable to Amazon. I also found firewood three times cheaper versus what our camp host was selling us. They kept my camping trip floating. Life saver! Workers are friendly as well. Do not pay attention to the bias negativity! We ordered a pizza and loved it. Pizza is subjective and everyone likes and dislikes certain qualities. However, they are vague in their descriptions as to why. We loved Diekmann's pizza because it had similar characteristics to Round Table in the dough, looks and taste. However, we found most of the toppings at Diekmann's to be superior and of better quality. The pizza was made with care and took 20 minutes from start to finish. If you want a microwaved frozen pizza, go somewhere else. The store has almost anything you would need and the prices are fair! Please stop rating businesses down because you cannot afford them. Every person on the planet has a different financial status. What a good review should reflect is the fairness of the price when being weighed with the businesses geographical location, availability, types of products being offered and competition. Just because you cannot afford something should not give you a right to negatively impact the business through your review, especially without knowing their profit and loss. This store has everything you could ever need!!!! The store is super organized and immaculately clean. The lady Indy was so sweet and kind . The guys stocking were kinda "smart mouthy" but no harm done! I left my credit card and Indy is actually going to drive and meet me half way to give it back. They were un easy about mailing it. I can't wait to vacation again in the most glorious Bodega Bay -I will definitely go shop there for food , snacks , tees -whatever -they have it!! read more

Buyer beware! Their items in the store are labeled and marked with a specific price, however when you check out at the register you will likely be charged a much higher price, as they 1) perhaps don't change the price labels or 2) they charge a higher price to tourists passing through just because they can. They told us the price of a bottle of champagne (already over priced) was $6 more than what was labeled. I told the clerk that in California the price advertised or labeled is the actual price and that they have a responsibility to change the labels if indeed the price goes up. From the start, this had bad written all over it. The parking lot was small, crowded, and hard to get into. The store was filthy and crowded. The bathrooms were filthy port-a-potties with no place to wash your hands. I had to throw away the potato salad I ordered. Okay, so aside from the assortment of items being sold such as miscellaneous camping supplies, fishing paraphernalia, beer, ice cream, and sweatshirts, Diekmann's ALSO has a deli where they sell this scrumptious crab roll. When I asked the cashier about the crab roll, her eyes widened with awe and assured me it was delicious. And she was right. She was so, so, so, so very right. I am salivating just writing about it. The crab roll is pure perfection. It's this generous portion of astoundingly fresh crab meat on a magnificently fresh, fluffy sesame seed bun that has been lightly toasted, buttered, aaaaand smeared with a thin layer of roasted garlic. It's....it's just so breathtakingly simple and so perfect. Taking a bite is just bliss. You get a mouthful of fresh picked crab meat, the crunch of the lightly toasted bun that has soaked up the butter, and a hint of roasted garlic. Just, unnnnffffffff, so good. I also really appreciate that Diekmann's doesn't gouge campers and tourists unlike other stores in the area. The service is really friendly and helpful! read more

They have a solid tackle selection for sport and commercial, and most anything you might need if you are here from out of town. On our first day of a 4 day road trip we stopped here for a rest. Enjoying the great views of bodega bay, the coolness of the market the worst thing happened. I dropped the only set of car keys over the cliff!! Mr Bal left the store to help us retrieve them. Never complaining about the 3 women giving him directions from above! This store has saved my life on not one but two occassions. The first time was back in April after a full day in Guerneville, Armstrong State Redwoods and the Sonoma Coast. We were heading back south on Highway 1 and it was getting later in the day. Not knowing Bodega Bay and what lay ahead, this place was like a beacon of joy for drinks and snacks! Easy parking, lots of variety for road trip snacks and even a number of sundries for those folks that may be camping nearby. They do take credit cards, but I believe there is a $5 minimum. There is also a deli and pizza available. Right next store is a separate gift shop with some Bodega Bay souvenirs-they may close earlier than the convenience store since I don't remember it being open later in the day this past April. However, this past Saturday that section was wide open and lots of folks were stopping in. Saturday after several adventures along the coast we needed sustenance for the long ride home and Diekmann's once again saved the day! read more

I typically don't leave reviews, but when you buy an item from a busines you expect them to back the item. My son and I stop in this place of business at 11:15 purchased a fishing pole, bait, and some tackle. Went down to the water and attempted to rig up the pole. Quickly figured out The fishing real was faulty. The lever that typically locks or unlocks the bale from Spinning freely did not engage or disengage As it should. Returned to 5he store and Was told they have no return or exchange policy. was told we were out of luck that they would not exchange it for one that worked. Diekmann's is my GO-TO store for all things while in Bodega Bay. It's your standard market with everything you could possibly need. It's got parking (which is crucial, yes), and while everything is probably more expensive and a little dustier than you're used to paying for it back in the City, it's all gravy when you're far away from home. I never thought in a million years that I would review this place, but to ignore it would mean I couldn't show it some love. Seriously?
