Chicken bowl with carrots, broccoli, mixed greens, stuffing and garlic aoli on the side
    Felicia C.

I'm in town for a conference and walked by this fast food spot. I'm a big fan of build your own bowl kind of places and this perfectly satisfied my semi-healthy but yummy and hearty meal craving. The workers were friendly. I had now idea how this place worked but they happily guided me through what entails a bowl (1 base or 1/2 and 1/2, two sides, and one main protein). For my base I got 1/2 bread stuffing and 1/2 mixed greens. For my sides I got roasted broccoli and roasted carrots and a side of garlic aioli. I also got a cookie! Honestly, everything was perfectly delicious. Nothing was over salted. The bread stuffing had a hint of sweetness and savoriness - chewy, yet soft - soo good! The chicken was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection. I barely used the garlic aioli because the meal was already so flavorful and moist but I'm sure it adds a nice touch if you love saucy-ness! It felt like a beautiful Thanksgiving meal, but maybe even better. The only thing is that the roasted veggies seemed oily but they were still really good and seasoned perfectly. They call this seasonal comfort food and boy were they right! Each bite was so delicious and comforting. I want to go back and try the other sides. Will definitely stop by anytime I see Dig in any city!

This was the $6 charge for the remaining half of my breast as my extra meat request.

So I want to be clear I'm not faulting the staff member because he's just doing his job. But I ordered a bowl here today and got the herb chicken and only got half the breast mind you the breast was small will show photo. After seeing how small I asked to pay for an extra portion to which I recieved the remaining half of my breast the small end. Ok... didn't say anything as I figured ok it'll probably be $2-$3. Come to find out it was $6 for 4 micro sized pieces. Don't order food here to over priced. Had I known I would have been charged $6 for this crap I would haven't ordered it. First and last time ordering from this place.

Custom Veg Only bowl with farro base, mac and cheese, avocado, and golden brussels
    Mia M.

I had low expectations for dig because I'm not a huge fan of grain bowl restaurants, but was pleasantly surprised. I made a custom veg bowl and everything was seasoned shockingly well and the portions were large. The farro base was by far my favorite thing - it has small pieces of celery in it, and while I'm not usually a celery person it went very well with everything else. The Brussels were a little salty, but not so much that they became inedible. The bowl itself looks a little ugly because they truly just throw everything in there, but the flavors were there so I didn't really mind.

Healthy, flavorful food. Good model. Granted I see there can be some misses but I think you get more hits than misses here. I enjoyed my random chicken and rice dishes. Staff was friendly and efficient and inside had slight seating on first floor and a second floor that was understandably closed when I arrived 35 min before closing for my TooGoodToGos.

The quality of food is next level at dig. I am obsessed with their bowls and could go weeks of just eating there. Love that they do too good go as well in helping out with food waste. Garlic aioli sauce is a must. 3 stars for unfriendly staff and extra fees incurred for additional toppings. I think they could do better w smaller portions of sides for same costs!

The Love is better. The space is beautiful, the service is consistently warm, and Stephen Starr's fingerprints are all over it. I love the painted white brick, the floral artwork along the walls, the street-level energy, and the outdoor seating. I also remember taking the elevator upstairs once. I can't remember whether we actually stayed and ate up there or asked to move back downstairs, but the space was charming and extremely private. It would be a great setting for a group dinner or event. Personally, I prefer downstairs. It's darker, livelier, and I like being at street level. The menu historically leaned more heavily into elevated Southern comfort food, which has never been my favorite style of cooking. That's probably why I've tended to prefer The Love for lunch over dinner, especially when Philadelphia has so many Starr restaurants competing for the same night out. I used to get what I remember as a salmon and farro bowl, although the menu appears to have evolved since then. Whatever the exact iteration was, I loved it. Fish and farro are both right in my wheelhouse. I've also enjoyed the kale salad and other lighter dishes. The thing I remember most vividly, though, is the cornbread. It is outrageously good and reason enough to order something for the table. I also give Starr credit for continuing to broaden the range of food styles in his portfolio. Once you've built restaurants across Italian, French, Mexican, English, steakhouses, seafood, and the rest, there are only so many obvious boxes left to check. The Love feels like its own lane: distinctly American, approachable, comfort-driven, and still polished enough to feel like a Starr restaurant. Looking at the menu now, it seems broader than I remember, with more options that appeal to me, and I'd be psyched to go back. The Love probably isn't the first Starr restaurant I'd choose purely based on cuisine, but that says more about the depth of his Philadelphia portfolio than it does about this restaurant. The room, hospitality, location, and execution are all excellent. I'd happily come here any day. Starr doesn't miss.

FANTASTIC place. Totally recommend and would absolutely go back…read more Easy to make a reservation over the phone and our party of 5 was welcomed and brought to our table upstairs. The upstairs area has a chill vibe with some Mario-themed art as well as a TV. It seems that the kitchen is upstairs, so a lot of waiters were flying by out table to the staircase. Our waiter was pretty chill. Apparently an O's fan, he was excited to learn we're from Baltimore. Food was all fantastic. The style of fries isn't my preference, but they were decent. Other than that, I was blown away. Child #1 and Child #2 got some items from the Kids' menu - grilled cheese and cheeseburger. Bread and Butter appetizer. Is it expensive for just being bread and butter? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes. The homemade bread is great, but combine it with honey butter with flaky salt, and it's incredible. Loads of reviews on Yelp talked about the sausage roll. GET IT. It's greasy and filling in all the right ways. Goes great with a beer. My wife got the burger and she found it to be very tasty. I got the Grilled Maitake Mushrooms dish and holy cow; it's perfect. Even if you're not a vegetarian (I'm not), you can appreciate this dish: crispy rice cake (not the dry kind from the store), tender baby bok choy, and of course the well-cooked mushrooms are tied together with black vinegar, garlic-whipped tofu (!), and a peanut sauce. A++ would absolutely get again. The food menu has some staples, but overall it does change nightly, so make sure you check it out before you come. Apparently, on Sundays, they do a different experimental flavor of wings. I was curious, but my stomach has only so much room, so I had to draw the line. There is a respectable drink menu. My wife got the blood orange mezcalita, which she liked, but thought the smoke flavor was more subtle than described. I got the Plum Fizz and would totally get it again. Pleasantly-sour with a nice fizz. It's a nice pub in a nice neighborhood of a major city - be prepared for prices to match. But it is absolutely worth it.

We had been hoping to get outdoor seating, but OpenTable doesn't specify indoor or outdoor seating with your reservation and unfortunately only indoor seating was available when we arrived at our reservation time. I find the indoor lighting to be a bit dim for brunch and it feels more suited to dinner, but it's still quite pretty and spacious inside. We ordered a mimosa (strangely not on the menu but they're there!) and the mini chocolate croissants to start, which came in a set of three and were quite mini as described, but they were delicious with the whipped Nutella spread! I got the eggs royale entree, which was perhaps one of the best eggs benedicts I've had. Great balance of flavors and a huge portion of side potatoes seasoned with paprika that left me very full even with my partner helping. My partner got the chicken and waffle which I also tried. Also a very generous portion, and the waffle was fluffy and buttery and the chicken was nicely moist. We didn't love the apple topping though which we found quite tart. Overall we had a very nice and filling brunch, but between the rather high prices for brunch (and I'm not personally a huge brunch person) and the inability to guarantee seating in the eponymous garden, I'm not sure how soon we'd be back without a gift card. But definitely a must-visit for brunch enthusiasts in Philly!

I enjoyed brunch at Harp & Crown and will definitely be back. The buffet had a great variety of both breakfast and lunch options. My favorites were the smoked lox, shrimp cocktail, fresh salads, mini sandwiches, and the French toast. They also had biscuits with chicken sausage gravy, a juice station, and plenty of other hot and cold selections. The desserts were decent, but the food was definitely the highlight. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. One thing I actually loved was the small plates they provide. It naturally encourages you to take smaller portions so you can sample more of the buffet without overloading your plate. Mimosas are available for $10 each. There were three of us, one person ordered a mimosa, and our total came to $134 before tip, which I thought was very reasonable for the quality and variety. The only downside is that there's no obvious sign outside letting you know you've arrived at Harp & Crown. Just head to 1525 Sansom Street it's right next to Giuseppe & Sons, which also has a great happy hour. Overall, great food, good service, reasonable pricing, and a brunch I'd happily recommend.
