After eating at Front street Cafe for many years (almost a decade), I am now done. I ordered my usual turkey burger and this time, it had no flavor. The "meat" did not taste like turkey AT ALL. It tasted like cardboard. I did get a close look at the fake meat towards the end - it was definitely not turkey. NO, it wasn't a veggie patty - that's not what I mean. I need to mention that the place is disgusting. They make it impossible to wash one's hands in the ladies room. Only cold water comes out, it only comes out for ONE second and then good luck getting paper towels to emit from the dispenser. This has been problematic MULTIPLE times - I just kept giving them the benefit of the doubt. My server has serial killer vibes. He never gave me his name, and both times I asked, he just walked away. He kept walking away in the middle of doing his job. He assumed I wanted fries and started walking away. I stopped him and said that I want my burger with salad. I always order the turkey burger with salad and even the salad was not fresh - something I had never experienced before. Not once did my server ask me if everything was okay. Like an IDIOT, I didn't complain, and I even tipped him. Before my food had arrived at my table, I spoke with the manager about something else on the menu - and he was so corporate, that it creeped me out. I mention this, because this is the other reason I will not return. Such a great place to grab a bite at any time of day. I love that it is open between lunch and dinner. My mom uses a walker and they have a ramp on the side that makes it easy to get in and out. The staff are always nice and accommodating. The bar area has stools and tables. A dining room is just past the bar. We sat at a table in the bar area. It is a limited menu between lunch and dinner but still place Ty to choose from! The empanadas were delicious. Flavorful but not too spicy. The sliders were delicious. The fries were hot and crisp! I was in town for a work conference with a free night to myself and noticed there were a few bands playing at Kung Fu Necktie I'd love to check out. So I grabbed an uber to fishtown and my driver recommended a few dining options, this being the one I opted for as it was steps away from the venue. It was a nice evening out (late fall 2025) so I opted for a patio seat. Nice overall vibe here, and excellent service. They have a good drink menu and like much of Philly excellent happy hour deals. Ok, parking can be tricky around here. Very trendy spot, welcoming staff, and fun atmosphere. It took a minute to understand, for a moment I thought I was at a Vegan restaurant but it's just plant forward. Nice to know a place to pick when dining with friends who have dietary restrictions. I started with a Front75, their version of the French 75, tasty. My husband had the pink lemonade which was descent. We split the French onion soup, Buffalo califlower, burger and side salad. Very good soup, enjoyed the califlower. We asked for extra aoili to dip; another review started this was undercooked, I disagree (it's a feature not a bug). The crunch on the cauliflower felt purposeful and I appreciated it. The burger, though slightly uneven in doneness, was juicy and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the side salad. I haven't been back to Front Street cafe for years, like pre-pandemic times. I remember the last time being disappointed by their lunch mushroom pho, not on their menu anymore. Front street cafe has always a spot I want to love, but haven't on my visits. I think the service and ambience are fantastic. The staff are friendly, all smiles, very kind and prompt on serving. The food was a miss for me last time, and it was a miss for me again this time. I was excited to try the "pork belly" banh mi. I was thinking they must have marinated or dehydrated/pressed it, treated it somehow to get that pork belly like texture from the tofu. That was not the case. It was a regular tofu banh mi, but the greens were too acidic for my liking. I did really enjoy the side soup however. I will say the rest of my party liked their meals. I know my one friend LOVES their gluten free chicken tenders. They have Tuesday - Sunday happy hour from 4-7pm, I haven't been yet but attached the photo for y'all! This is my second visit to this place we have to be sitting outdoors since the weather was very nice. The sun was out. It did. It was raining but it did stop. The outside was just great great vibes great service. I did take the gentlemen's name, but I don't remember to recommend him. He was just outstanding kept checking up on us to make sure we were enjoying and did we need anything? That was really great now for the food, my Daughter and myself had the onion soup, which I found outstanding very good. The cheese was all melted. It was just really good. We had the Loaded Fries you get a very large portion of them, it was three of us and we're like to die for.my son in law had the Breakfast Burrito also a large portion and BatteredFries and he ate the whole thing. I had the Harvest Salad so huge that I shared with my daughter, we both really enjoyed this salad. You get a large bottle of water for your table besides the water to hydrate, PROSECCO MIMOSA was great, at the time of our visit they had a White Sangria on the menu, so refreshing especially after our walk to the Front Street Cafe for lunch. Feasted so well that I forgot camera eats first! Love that they have a big space to accommodate several people. I got the breakfast burrito which was massive and super tasty. It was super filling and I had leftovers which was also good the next day. It's super close to the Front-Girard station if you wanted to hop on the Septa too! Heads up, if you are looking for the vegan options here, they are unlabeled. Instead of labeling the vegan options, they label the NON-vegan options, because MOST of the menu is vegan! Yay! We've eaten here twice, the first time was October of last year during vegan restaurant week. Then again this past weekend. Not sure why it's taken us so long to return because both times were fantastic! In October, it was warm enough to sit in their absolutely gorgeous back patio. We got the mushroom bolognese with the thickest yummiest noodles, the French onion soup, and the eggplant parm. Everything was vegan and absolutely toothsome. We also split a warm brownie thing with some meringue on top for dessert and it might have been one of the greatest desserts I've ever had. Last weekend, we stopped in for breakfast, driven to try the new vegan "pork belly" bahn mi special which was excellent. We also were excited to see the vegan French onion soup on the permanent menu and to get it again! Finally, aside from splitting the sandwich, we also split the harvest salad which was so giant and came with so much vegan feta, that we had multiple leftover servings! The only thing I wouldn't get again here was the latte. We each got a vanilla oatmilk latte and it wasn't the best (just kind of overly sweet and bland and we are coffee snobs). My all time fav place to go. In my recent visit tried their tofu special sandwich and rose latte that was amazing. My all time fav Huevos Rancheros never disappoints. The portions are very filling and staff is always very friendly although will say that depending on where you are seated, they might get too busy to come address you. I had asked for Mayonnaise on the side with my sandwich and it almost came when I was done eating. There is a paid parking lot nearby listed on their website which was helpful since we don't live in the area and wouldn't have known where to park. We came here on Mother's Day for brunch and it was packed, but we had a reservation and didn't have to wait. We sat outside in the garden and it had a great atmosphere. Our server was nice and helpful with all of our questions. There were so many vegetarian/vegan options on the menu! We loved the huevos rancheros (with tofu scramble instead of egg), the breakfast burrito (with tofu scramble), and the tofu banh mi. We also tried the mixed juices and orange juice and they tasted fresh. All of the food was so flavorful!! This is not always the case with vegan food, but they did a great job here with the taste and presentation. The service was also fast and our food came out pretty quick. I am about to write a very glowing review for them but unfortunately don't have any pictures to go along it. We came here with a couple of friends who chose this place, one of us is vegan and she loves the food here. Apparently they have a lot of vegan/vegetarian options. We ordered the twice baked sweet potato, the buffalo cauliflower, spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and the calabresi fusilli pesto - everything was absolutely to die for! I love anything pesto but lately have not been able to find a good pasta anywhere in the city. I am so glad we found this place and I hope they never take it off their menu! Their twice baked sweet potato is a delicacy in its own right. Their upstairs space is so cozy and warm, they have a couple of leather couches around a beautiful Christmas tree. We got to Front Street very late. About 250p on a Tuesday so they were only offering their "turn over menu" which was an abbreviated menu I assume to allow them to transition from breakfast/lunch to dinner. We ordered the burger and the short rib burger, the Harvest salad, and the fried cauliflower. I immediately noticed the fries that came with the burger were ice cold. The burger was no better presenting lukewarm, flavorless, with a piece of VERY coagulated cheese that slid off the burger in one lumpy piece. The salad was mediocre at best. The cauliflower was drenched in sauce on top and below which defeated the purpose of them being fried. They were soggy and sad looking topped with sliced carrots. We sent the cauliflower back. In addition even though the restaurants very empty we had to wait for an extended period of time before our server came to check on us and or pickup the check and payment method. I'm also not sure if a door was open somewhere but there was an influx of flies around the restaurant which created an annoying ambiance. Wow! I was very impressed with this place! Though parking is kind of a hassle, it was worth the experience. I've never been to Philadelphia before, and liked that this was in the Fishtown district as it was so cool to see the street cafes and bars. Walking into the restaurant, you get a really homey feeling and it's warm and inviting. I'm front you have a coffee bar available if you just want a coffee to go along with some pastries. Around this coffee area is bar seating which extends in a square around the other bar area. We had a reservation at 11am so we were seated right away in a booth in the back of the restaurant. I noticed that they had a patio outdoor area which I'm sure is really nice to be out there in warmer weather. Our sever came over and took our drink orders. I ordered one of their breakfast drinks however I did not like it. It was tequila and another liquor and just didn't mix well for me. But it looks beautiful! My other friend got a Bloody Mary. We then placed our food orders and I have to say the eggs Benedict I had was delicious. Not sure if the salad I got was a great pairing with it, but I did want something healthy! I've been here twice for brunch and while I am not vegan, I dine with someone who is often and can appreciate vegan food. With that said this is literally the best place for vegans and non vegans to go together to share a meal without issue. Front street cafe is a cute corner restaurant and while cozy and rustic inside, has a lot of enclosed outdoor seating. They have excellent coffee and tea options as well as great cocktails. This visit we had the masala chai tea and the ginger/turmeric chai tea. Both were great. The chais were served in a large mug with extra foam making me want to cozy up with a book in front of a fire place. To start, us and several tables around us got the buffalo cauliflower so you know it's good. There was no breading on the cauliflower which I loved. It had a non dairy sauce underneath and a buffalo sauce that had a kick but did not leave you with a burning mouth. For entrees we had the Benedict vegan style with tofu and vegan hollandaise and vegan scrapple, breakfast potatoes, apple hot cakes, and the huevos rancheros non vegan style. What a meal! Only in Philly will you find vegan scrapple. It was mushroom lentil and it was excellent. The cinnamon apple hot cakes were soooo moist they felt like they were made with love. It wasn't too sweet but it definitely didn't need syrup. The huevos rancheros had black beans and quinoa also. The whole meal was amazing. Needless to say we had to walk this food off. Worst brunch I've had in recent memory. I had the breakfast plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, multigrain bread and fries. With the exception of the fries, everything else was awful and dry.
