As a bargain shopper, I was always leery to go to Dillards; I live in Curti Ranch, a whole two minutes away and I refused to humor the place. The main reason being that I assumed it was a high-end (see: very expensive) establishment that only exemplified my love for online shopping (see: Amazon). However, I recently purchased a Coach purse and wallet for my sister's graduation present on Coach.com. They were having a huge summer sale, so I got the purse and wallet for almost $400. My sister took forever to come pick up her gift, so during that time I fell in love with the purse. It gave me ample time to 'sleep on it' and after about 5 days I had decided I really wanted one. Lo and behold, when I returned to coach.com, the sale was over...Just my luck. This brought me to Dillards.com as I remember seeing -- from previous online shopping adventures -- that they sold Coach purses, as well as many other high-end brands that I love. I found the purse that I wanted in a great color, with a matching wallet; they wanted a few bucks more than Coach did, but I figured I'd be saving money on shipping. Drive there after I get off work and head straight to the purse section. *Side note: I hate shopping so much, I looked up the floor map on dillards.com to see where exactly the purse section was.* I instantly notice they have a great layout in the purse department with quite a bit of 30% off and 50% sales racks (OH.EM.GEE). I scour these racks for about 3 minutes, making my way to the Coach section. As soon as I get there, a woman named Marta asked if she could help me. Not a fan of wasting time, I instantly point to the Edie I saw on the 30% rack and asked, "Yes, do you have that purse in the nude?" "Come with me, I'll show you the one I have." She replies. It ended up being the nude (thank you, Jesus)! It also was on the 50% RACK! So, instead of the $293 sale price they had on dillards.com, it was marked at about $187! I said, "I'll take it!" She unlocks it and I immediately ask for the matching jet set wallet. Again, we look through the displays and my heart kind of sinks as I couldn't see it. She told me to wait so she can check in back. A few minutes later she comes strolling towards me with the nude jet set wallet and exclaims that it had also been reduced in price just today. On dillards.com it was on sale for $107...I paid $74. Out the door, I paid for a wallet and purse for under what I paid for just my sister's purse. This may sound all superficial and you probably want me to get to the damn review, already. Needless to say, Marta was EXCELLENT. She made my shopping experience very enjoyable and expedient - just how I like it. I'm pretty sure I was out of there in less than 10 minutes. While my opinion is only based off the purse department and probably somewhat biased, as I knew what I wanted and they, thankfully, had it, I'm still giving them 5 stars and will update as needed. I also know where to go when I get into my need-to-have-a-new-purse binge. read more

I've been in a few times in the past for shoes. Once was for me, and another time was for my youngest daughter. Both occasions went very well and I was in and out in no time (and I wasn't given any grief for using my boyfriend's ATM card, which is a huge point for me since I do 80% of our household shopping with his card). I went in to get fitted for a few new bras. I've had myself measured before at Lane Bryant, and been told a VERY wrong size. Dillard's is much better at bra sizing than any place I've been to before. I had my 2 daughters with me, so I was taken into one of the larger fitting rooms so we had room. I thought it was a little weird at first that the lady had me remove my shirt to measure me, but I know getting an accurate measurement through clothes is much harder. As soon as she saw my bra she told me exactly where I was going wrong in my bra wearing. She ran out grabbed a bra and came back and actually put it on me (directing me here and there for some things). I was rather amazed that I was so very off in what I had been wearing. It seemed comfortable enough. She also explained to me why proper fitting bras are important and had me try on quite a few different styles and brands. I found one I liked and got 2 of them. While I'm still not sure how I feel about being so exposed in front of a stranger (which is baffling because I've given birth twice) I like having proper fitting clothing enough that I'll continue to go back and get fitted at Dillard's when I'm in need of new clothes. And for the record, Dillard's is way nicer than Macy's here. Macy's has been around for some time and it's starting to look and feel run down, but that's another review. :P read more

Duh, shopping anytime and anywhere! Who cares if we were wearing our snow pants to the mall. PSSHH. It's chic. We took a break from playing in the snow and stole the car keys to Reno for some shopping. We heard the Summit was the nicest shopping centers in the area, so of course we had to check it out. Dillard's, we heard, was comparable to Bloomingdale and Nordstorm. Um, I think not. Maybe Macy's and JCPenny. These people... The shopaholics and I went to Dillard and we heard that an Ellen Tracy fashion show was happening soon. I heard free refreshments. My friend heard raffles and prizes. So we decided to check it out. And who knew, I won the Dior gift basket raffle!! =) WHEEE. Best shopping day ever. Very friendly service, clean, and reasonable priced items. (Well, compare to California anyway). read more

Very clean and well organized compared to Macy's which looks like a hurricane went through it. Selection is good and prices compare to other stores. Staff is very friendly and they say HI a lot. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend that you shop there vs some of the other stores in the area. read more

Awful Clinique counter! And cosmetics sales overall are a waste of time! The store sends out promotional fliers but every time I go in to buy based on the promotional flier I received I'm told some BS story of why it's not available today! Clinique should consider pulling their brand as Dillard's does a horrible job promoting and selling it! The cosmetics people are worthless, they never know about products and never know where to find them. Most often I just leave because it's such a hassle! Once the cosmetics girl followed me through the store when I'd asked her to hold an item so I could buy it at the end of my shopping. She was so worried I might forget she kept following me... It was so irritating I left without the cosmetics and without anything else. The Clinique gift with purchase is a total disaster Dillard's sends out fliers, once I went in the week I got the flier and was informed that the promotion had ended a long time ago. But the display with the promotion was still up??? Today I went in because Monday I got the flier, I was told that it doesn't start until tomorrow? Ummm the flier says it's going on NOW? And the promotion display was out on the counter? Such a waste of time I told the girl to forget it I had wasted my time and the place was too unorganized to shop there and I'd order online from Clinique they never let me down! And I left without spending a penny! Dillard's has permanently lost my business, their customer "service" is really a disservice! People go to macy's they've got it figured out! read more

Roland helped me try out and select a couple of beautiful Hart Schaffner Marx suits and a blazer. He was very helpful and their in-house seamstress was able to adjust the length to fit me perfectly. The sale prices were exceptional and these are the most comfortable suits I've ever owned. Roland also helped me with shirts and a couple of ties. I could not be more pleased with the service and the quality of the items that Dillard's provided. read more

An incredibly poor customer service experience. We were attempting to return a James Avery bracelet we bought online. James Avery says any authorized reseller can handle this which is also stated in writing. After driving 30 miles from Truckee to Dillard's where they have James Avery jewelry, they informed us they cannot do this, despite my having purchased an additional piece at the store from the very pleasant sales woman. After much heated discussion and 45 minutes later, they finally processed the credit due. This was an incredibly poor experience and we certainly will not return to Dillard's. read more

I went in today with my mom to find a dress for a wedding and a bra. My mom wanted to get a pair of spanx. We went to the lingerie section and we're greeted with "What can I do you out of?" by a sales associate and manager named Jennifer. That right off the bat was rude and my mom says that she's looking for spanx and that i'm looking for a bra. She replies to me needing a bra with: "Yes she does!" because I chose to not wear a bra today. I couldn't believe that she said that and then she continued with "I was looking at her and thought that she really needs a bra. I could make you look so much better!" My mom saw the look on my face and asked for her to just size me so I could look myself. She takes me into a room where she told me to turn around and take off my shirt. I was very uncomfortable the whole time and she was so pushy I hated it. I thought by sizing she was just gonna size me with a tape measure and my shirt on but NO. she decided to make me undress for the hideous bra she put me in. The best part of this entire thing was that she put me in a G CUP?! i've never in my life thought I had boobs bigger than a C or D let alone a G and that was quickly confirmed by the Victoria's Secret rep that I went to after. I excused my mom and myself politely and didn't buy anything and she comes to a different part of the store to find me and try to sell me on a different bra. I didn't want to even interact with this woman let alone give her any sales. I work in retail and I would never think of saying that to someone. She was creepy, pushy and so unprofessional. I'm completely put off shopping at dillard's because of this woman. I went to find a dress and was helped by a nice woman named Joyce and I really appreciated her being nice and respectful toward me. Jennifer really needs some training or to be in a different section if she's going to be talking to young women like that. read more

At first I was really impressed with the selection at Dillard's. I had gone to several other department stores and didn't find what I was looking for until Dillard's. Then I saw the prices and was a little reluctant to spend what they were asking for the quality and selection they had. read more

I am not too thrilled with Dillard's. I get that it's a higher-end store when compared with Kohl's or JcPenney's, but I'm not seeing the quality or selection one would expect from a store that charges what Dillard's does. I spent a good hour going in circles all over this store, searching for something that appealed to me. Further, I don't get the layout, whatsoever. There are sections of certain brands, juniors and men's is downstairs, and "Dillard's Woman" is upstairs, along with a second section of swimwear. It would make more sense to me to have men's and other special sections upstairs or separate from all of the women's sections. I don't really want to go on an expedition to find all of the sections of women's clothing. Also, it would be helpful if, instead of signs for brands, they posted signs like, "Preppy", "Bohemian", "Trendy", "Rocker Chic", "Old Lady", "Old Lady Trying To Be Hip", etc. I would, at least, know what section to avoid, so as to not waste my time. What really disappointed me more than anything was the selection for plus sizes and their size availability in general. I'm kind of in the middle when it comes to size. I straddle the line between XL and 1X. At many stores I can find something in the "regular sizes", but not at Dillard's. Many of their "collections" went to a large only. Really, let's get with the program. There are more women who fit into "larger" sizes these days. Also, the you-don't-belong-to-the-fashion-club-because-you're-fat game is way overplayed. Enough. To make matters worse, their plus-size section had the most hideous clothing. Apparently, Dillard's is not aware of the fact that a woman who wears a size 16 doesn't want to dress like her 80 year-old grandmother. If you don't want to try rocking geriatric fashion, you can buy an $80 tee shirt with a lame saying on it. Choices! As if I wasn't annoyed enough, when I found that the only dress I found appealing had a snag in it, I was done. Please don't charge people a ridiculous amount of money for Forever 21 quality. I was at Dillard's Sunday, January 4th and experienced horrible customer service in the shoe department. After a few minutes of looking around it was obvious there was no assistance around so I went in search of help holding three pairs of shoes. No luck, no such thing as " I will be right with you" no eye contact, no customer service whatsoever. I then approached a sales person who walked right by me and did not even acknowledge my question. When I finally got some help, the only size they had was the floor display and she could not find any of the matches. I am in the hospitality industry and customer service is what keeps the customer coming back. There are many places to shop and I can say that I will never back to Dillard's. read more

Love the customer service at this store. We went here for a prom dress and found the perfect one.... But.... It was a size to big. Joanne walked up to us asking if we needed help, we just asked if they all the dresses they have were out on the floor. She said yes and asked what was wrong, we told her it was to big. She said that if we took it to get it hemmed that Dillards would reimburse us. I did and they reimbursed its with NO problems. It cost $80 to hem, wasn't cheap. They were so nice. I always come to Dillard's every year to buy Christmas presents. This year, I went in, looked at some purses and was approached by one of the employees. She gave me this look as though I couldn't afford anything. She looked me up and down and just made me feel as though I didn't belong. I went to the jewelry section to buy a necklace and another employee who rang me up also made me feel as though I couldn't afford anything there. I am just appalled by how I was treated. No customer should feel as though they don't belong or as if they're being judged. read more

I went to Dillard's to get a shirt and asked to try them on this guy Roland that works in the shirt department where the Michael kors and Calvin Klein shirts are shouted u are not aloud to try those on how would u like it if someone tried on your underwear and I said back these are not underwater first off and than the guy Roland decided to shout back saying well how would u like it if someone tried on your shirt really rudely . I was like well isn't that what the dressing rooms are for. So than I talked to a manager he said the same thing and also I complained to him than I called Dillard's Corp and they said that is not their policy and that u can try on any shirt u want regardless if it's in a box or not . So I will not be returning to this Dillard's ever again to to the unprofessional way I was talked to as I own my own business and would never ever talk or treat a customer this way. read more

The store was laid out typical to most department stores. However, they were very disorganized with notes and rage everywhere. One of the associates informed me they just had outsourced a company to do inventory and that's why there was such a disarray in product. It was hard to maneuver around items strewn everywhere and the associates had difficulty helping us to find different sizes and products that we asked for because they weren't sure where it was located. The redeeming thing was they were having a huge sale and the associates were all friendly and helpful. read more

We shop here fairly regularly, but today was quite special. If you ever need to look for a pair of new shoes, make sure you request Thomas from the Men's Shoe Department! My husband and daughter were shopping and Thomas assisted them. I met them and watched their interaction with Thomas. He is someone who exudes kindness, happiness and helpfulness in a manner that is not experienced much these days. He assisted with sales but was also so personal in his interaction with everyone he was helping. I will request his help anytime I shop here and honestly want to bring him home for dinner! Thomas is exceptional in the lost art of customer service and just enjoying his job, life and the people around him! AMAZING!!! read more

Best dillards ever!!!!!!!!!! Huge selection of awesome merchandise. I was blown away by the sales. I walked in thinking i wasn't going to spend a dime and left loaded with bags. I loved the sweet salesgal at the origins counter. The only complaint i have is that the girl in the shoe department was dressed very inappropriately with exposed tattoos on her thighs.. very trashy and not a good representation of the Dillard's brand. read more

I'm a reluctant shopper. I went to get several (8) pairs of work slacks on a Saturday morning a few weeks ago. I wanted a particular pant of several made by HSM. Their inventory is meager, they had one pair of the type I wanted, so I ended up getting 4 pair of the next best ones. They ordered the other 4 pair from different stores to be shipped to me. They entered the wrong code/type of slack. When I found out there was an error I called and told them. Then they completely cancelled to order. Then they created a new order. When I finally got the pairs ordered two were the right ones and one wasn't and the 4th was cancelled. So other than the untrained staff, inability to order the correct stuff, meager inventory and confused staff in the other stores, it was a great shopping experience. read more

I shop here primarily for shoes and women's professional business attire. I rarely buy anything that's not on sale so I like that you can usually find clothes at least 40% off, if you don't mind something that's been on the rack more than a minute. They have a decent variety when it comes to professional business attire and I really like their shoe selection. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. read more

The store is nice but what people do not realize is the corporation treats employees awful, over working they have to make daily quotas so I feel I can not shop without being attacked by multiple sales people! The employees do not seem happy. They are just trying to keep their jobs but low class to keep bothering shoppers. After learning how they treat employees I will no longer give them my business. You can buy most everything the same at Macy's & Kohl's ( different label same item) I do not approve of the family of Dillard's treating employees so bad just so their stock goes up only making them money!
