Normally I try not to write negative reviews but the experience here wasn't great. First off they didn't have a lot of stuff that was on their paper menu. We order what's available on their kiosk machine. I ordered some fried rice because how can a Chinese restaurant make bad fried rice? Well, i can say don't order the fried rice here because it's bland and flavorless. My daughter ordered some mini dumplings and she was still hungry after she finished and she is the lightest eater in this world. Any case, it gets worse. We ordered 3 drinks. She comes to us 10 mins later that they didn't have any tea left (we ordered a smoothie, passion fruit tea and honey lemon tea). How does a place run out of tea with 2.5 hours before closing? Highest profit margin and you can't make a batch of tea??? The girl at the register said she was refunding us back for the drinks. Not surprisingly, we never got the refund. We ordered delivery on a weekend. There was some nice variety on the menu. The honey roast pork was our favorite, though we used the chili oil dip from one of our other dishes to augment the sauce that came with the dish itself. The duck roll didn't seem to have any duck in it at all - enough that I even asked my friends, who ordered vegetarian, if they had gotten the duck one by accident. The pan-fried wagyu buns were ok but a little over priced for what they were. The Hong Kong style shrimp dumpling was not particularly impressive, either. The food was OK at best, but we've had better. Food: We've Had Better (2 stars out of 5 stars). We ordered for take-out: - Truffle Shrimp Shumai: $7.95 ($8.66 with tax). There seemed to be a lot of filler ingredients (i.e., not shrimp) in these dumplings. We received a separate vial of truffle since we ordered the shumai for take-out, which we then manually applied to each shumai dumpling. The shrimp lacked the crispness typically found in well-made restaurant versions, but the truffle was pretty good. - Tiny Pan-Fried Chicken Dumplings: $5.95 ($6.47 with tax). We went during their soft opening so not everything was available yet. Given they weren't fully open I won't bring up the items that would be resolved with some more employees and attentiveness. BUT I will say the food was solid and obviously made fresh. The largest let down was the chicken bun, the texture of the filling was a bit too tough but flavor was fine. The Hong Kong shrimp dumpling stole the show. The service at the cashier was good, a little disorganized but assuming that's because of the new opening. I got delivery from here a few weeks ago. I ordered 2 vegetable spring rolls, an order of vegetable dumplings, and the Jing Chong Baked Vegetable Buns. The food was all very good. I called to ask a few questions before I ordered, and they were great at navigating me to what they had which was vegetarian. The buns and spring rolls were phenomenal and arrived nice and crispy. I also appreciated the dumplings, but the dumpling sauce was pure vinegar! I definitely would try this place again, as the food was good. Finally tried this place, after having been hesitant (yet curious) to get the blueberry sauce with my chicken. The worker assured me it's more tart than sweet, plus I had back up sauces at home, so I went with it. It was delightful and refreshing, with a slight hint of mustard, but it's probably better for summer during an intense heatwave - along with a refreshing drink - than for an insanely windy January day like today. The sauce coats so well that it says, "Don't worry, we won't tell anyone you're American broccoli." I drank the last of the sauce and licked the container clean. I do recommend it and I think a fried rice option would have been nice, perhaps better, than the white rice. Went here because my bf was hungry and we were walking by and their menu in the window advertising their rice bowls for $7.99 caught our attention. We ordered separately; I only ordered the tofu rice bowl, but my bf ordered a different rice bowl plus a bubble tea. While we were waiting for our food the woman working the front brought out two teas to our table. Not sure if this was a mistake or a gift, but I enjoyed having a tea, too. I was really surprised at how much tofu was in my bowl. It was really a large amount; I think there was more tofu than rice, which was awesome. I have about a third left for a snack later. I was wondering how they were going to serve the claypot rice because this was a takeout place and was pleasantly surprised. Shanghai soup dumpling. This came with 6 soup dumplings. Daughter thought it was delicious and enjoyed it a lot. The place is very small with a few seats. It's really good for takeout. You can order your food through this kiosk but I chose to order it with a cashier. I'm glad that I got to try this place. Service was quick and friendly. I was in the neighborhood and saw this new Dimsum place that just opened not too long ago. This place was pretty good for a fast dim sum to go place. The items are relatively affordable and worth the price. They are on the modern side of dim sum and do not offer many of the traditional items Dimsum places have. Their menu is relatively simple yet offer many variety of options. As for the food: The fish dumpling was my favorite item that I have tried so far. The soup dumplings were decent. I am not sure if they made the dumplings themselves or if it was bought. However, it was cheaper than most soup dumplings and it did satisfy my cravings. The duck dumplings were okay. I wouldn't necessarily buy it again but I will say that the sauce for the duck dumplings was amazing. It complimented the dish well. I would definitely come back here and try more of their items. I saw this place is newly opened and wanted to try a new dimsum spot. I've been going to Eight Loaves for a long time, and wanted to check out the new place. They serve some traditional dishes but others are more of a "modern" style. I only ordered the dimsum, but they serve rice dishes too. A lot of their options are fried, it was ok. I don't think I will order the HK style shrimp dumpling, which was basically fried ha gao, and it tasted too sweet. The chicken spring roll tasted crispy, that I would order again. They make the food fresh to order, so there is a bit of a wait unless you order ahead. This place is an affordable, no frills dim sum place. I went in not expecting much but the food was actually good. I feel like they should change their name though because their dimsum was just okay but the clay pot rice was AMAZING. They seem to package everything in takeout containers but they skew towards lower plastic use than other places. The claypot rice comes in a fully tin tub that stays hot and makes the rice crispy. I got the chicken, shitake, and red date clay pot rice and found the toppings to be mostly not seasoned which let the ingredients set most of the flavor profile. Wings are not fresh. They're frozen. You can tell by the bone color. They're dim sum are good. But they're adding a ton of stuff to the menu and with the way they're handling their wings, I'd assume that the quality of the other items are probably about to go down read more
