I got influenced to try their lunch buffet, which runs from 12 to 3 PM for just $18. The restaurant is Indian and Nepali-owned. There were nine dishes in total, and honestly, I was disappointed. The chili chicken curry, which was the only chicken curry available, was overly sour, and neither my sister nor I enjoyed it. The chicken biryani was bland and lacked flavor, probably the worst biryani I've had. My favorite item was the naan. It was soft, fluffy, and easily the standout of the meal. But naan being the standout is a little like saying the best part of the concert was the folding chair. Overall, I would pass. 3/5 for affordability and their naan.

    Beef momos

This is my first time visiting after it has been renovated and since they changed their store name. I went for my usual beef momos and chicken chow mein. The chicken felt kind of hard (maybe a bit overcooked) but it was still pretty good. The Momos were good too; I think they're very comparable( in terms of price and taste) to all the other Momo shops in the area. Service was quick and efficient. They accept cards but be prepared to pay a 3% fee, so instead, I recommend paying with cash.

This is a great, intimate spot for families and friends to gather and eat. The service only took about 15 minutes to prepare the food. I recommend getting your meal as spicy as possible, as some portions felt a bit bland. However, the spicier options bring out more flavor--at least that was my experience with the butter chicken.

I was near Namaste Tasi Delek Restaurant & Bar and decided to stop in for dinner. I was looking for vegan options, so I asked the server about the menu. The server was very patient and helpful while explaining the dishes. They told me that many vegetarian dishes include cream or butter, but a few options could easily be prepared vegan, such as Aloo Gobi and Bhindi Masala. I asked if they could prepare the dish with no chili spice, less salt, and less oil, and also make it fully vegan with no cheese, milk, or cream. The server said they were happy to accommodate my request. Each dish also came with rice. The food was delicious and well prepared, and I really appreciated how the restaurant was willing to adjust the dish to match my dietary needs. Overall, I had a very pleasant dining experience. The service was excellent and the food was satisfying.

I like wai wai sadeyko and chatpat from this place, so i bought some frozen momos. This was the first batch i was making and found hair in my momo. I went there next day, complained about my momo and even showed him this picture. He zoomed it and said this is not a hair, it must the steel sponge that you use to wash dishes. I was shocked. I didn't even expect this answer from him. I just wanted an apology and my money back, but he gave me my phone back and left. After this incident i don't even go there to buy chatpat. Very dissapointed with their customer service. What can i even expect from a nepali guy.

We stopped by on a food tour, so we only had the chicken dumplings. They were good along with the spice tray. The location is in the basement of Delhi Heights, small and nothing fancy but quiet.

Chicken thukpa (looks good, but bland)
    Anna L.

Namaste is a strange looking restaurant located in the basement. It is a veerry causal restaurant. There was music videos playing on the television, laid back customers just hanging out drinking beer and they also sell lottery tickets. There is even a mini slot machine in the corner. Even though it specializes in momos, I decided to try their thukpa. Bad idea. The chicken thukpa was bland but not unedible. On the other hand, my friend had the beef thupka which was terrible! It tasted like stale dirty water and the beef looked weird and fake. The food also upset my stomach. The prices were cheap but not worth it. Maybe the momos are better.

Tucked away in the back of Merit Kabab, not surprised if you didn't even know this place existed. It would be understandable if you never made it past Merit's brilliant display of meats and fish and vegetables and rices to the Momo's in the back. But don't do yourself wrong by ignoring this: get a plate of momos! The filling of the chicken momos was SO flavorful. There was pepper and vegetables and it was so fresh! I couldn't decide if I liked the steamed or the fried version better. Good thing I didn't have to decide because you can order a combo that comes with both. For $10 you get 8 momos which I think is a steal. It's the perfect little appetizer before you dive into all of Merit's food. Amazing, they even have frozen momos to go! Forget that nonsense you get at Trader Joe's and come here to pick up some authentic Nepali street food.

Delicious freshly made momos. We got the chicken and meat. Their texture was good and because we got them fried they came without soup. Just good and simple momos. The place is on the basement of a store and they have lots of options. Mera's Tip: take the stairs.

    Full of disappointments!
    H T.

I hate to write bad reviews, but sometimes I have no choice. I frequent Jackson Hights for the south Asian and Far East cuisine. I'm a big fan of Himalayan Nepalese food after trying it out at Nepali Bhanchha Ghar several time. I also don't mind the modest accommodations. My visit this time was to go to Lhasa Fast Food, but after failing to find it, I opted to visit Namaste instead. Here's a quick summary. We ordered the following with a brief comments: 1. Jhol Momo Chicken & Beef - This Momo was lame at best. It was more than 1/2 empty, mixed in a boring gravy and was more dough than anything else. 2. Fried Momo Beef - Filled with a mini sample of beef, again more dough than anything else. 3. Chicken Chow Mein - Chicken was hard and stale. Tasted much better Chow Mein everywhere else. 4. Beef Chow Mein - Beef was not edible as you can see from the pic. Looks stale, tasted old and fatty. Just terrible. Meat was not fresh. Couldn't eat any more of it. 5. Selroti - Took one bite and returned it to the kitchen. Hoping they threw it out where even starving stray cats don't get to it. I'd hate to see the disappointment on their face too! 6. Chicken Fried Rice - left it untouched after I tried everything else! I've had enough disappointment for one place. 7. Coke - The only thing I really enjoyed today! I did not mention the modest basement accommodation because I'm not new to this. I frequent Nepali Bhanchha Ghar which is less than a block away with similar atmosphere, but unlike this place, the food at Nepali Bhanchha Ghar is phenomenal especially the Momo's. Namaste did not live up to the reviews I've read. I'm not a very picky eater, but I expect freshness and heart from the food I eat. This place lacked any imagination and never gave me a pleasant memory to leave with. I can say with certainty that I will never step foot here again. And will be very careful not to blindly believe the reviews on this site. Nepali Bhanchha Ghar has 3.5 stars rating, but it's north of 4 starts in my book. Namaste restlessly earned this 1 star because it's the absolute minimum!

Out Front (from within Merit Kebab)

Buried in the back of the popular Merit Kebab Palace http://www.yelp.com/biz/merit-kabab-palace-jackson-heights), Namaste Tashik Delek provides a much needed variety of Himalayan / Tibetan / Nepalese fare for all hungry and curious mouths 24 hours a day. I've often found myself here when taco and arepa carts just weren't doing it for me and when Kabab King (http://www.yelp.com/biz/kabab-king-diner-jackson-heights) looked like it was having a Black Friday sale. Late night momos have been a stellar source of post 4AM cravings that is a nod to unique variety as it is about simple tastes. The momos here are good, perhaps not as good as Potala Fresh Food (http://www.yelp.com/biz/potala-fresh-food-jackson-heights), but still decent. I find the skin is a big doughy at times, but it still has a fresh inkling of momo juice with every bite. I personally believe they're best during the day time, when it's more crowded, and the momos are cranked out by the dozens. Momos are what they do best here, but I've also sampled some of their balep korkun, a type of flatbread they heat up on a skillet or frying pan, as well as some of their chowmin (chow mein). Whenever I get the flatbread they serve it with this chili sauce that gets some good heat. The chowmin noodles are fluffy without being too oily, but perhaps my tastebuds show my preference to the Chinese variant, since this was a bit on the bland side. Usually I keep it real simple and go for a $5 order of momos and call it a meal. I've eaten at Merit so many times that I can't believe I missed this back counter where Tashi Delek sells their goods. It only took a few late night encounters for me to warm up to it, but I'm quite glad I did. And I'm even more thankful they're open 24 hours a day.

Mango lassi is good! Lollipop chicken! Rice does not come with it, order separately.

Beware this place does not look great. Also there are usually people who are too chilled as customers. Like come on, the place is in the basement. They need an upgrade! If you don't mind how the place looks, the food is delicious! The momos are so fresh! My favorite is the sauce lollipop chicken (its a little spicy). It's so good though! I love it with rice (you have to order the rice separately). I always get a bag of their frozen momos to make at home. $20 for 50 pieces. Did I mention they are HALAL! Yay!

    Chicken Momos

Stopped by just to pick up 2 orders of momos (dumplings) on my way home. I got 1 order of chicken momos and 1 order of beef momos. Both were pretty good. The chicken was lighter in flavor and the beef was very meaty tasting. My only complaint was that the skin on the momos are too thick. I like the skin to be thinner. The momos come with 2 sauces (1 mild and 1 very spicy) for dipping. Prices were pretty cheap - for takeout: 8 chicken momos for $5 - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/TFE8EAjOqkrHYM9jH6De0A?select=igoLUJ3AMCPOqWFMjXHAqg 7 beef momos for $5 - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/TFE8EAjOqkrHYM9jH6De0A?select=mrKT5DJ0C738v_NgQyiQMg They are open 24/7. They also deliver (10 block radius) and requires a $20 minimum order. They are located right by the entrance to the 7 train on 74th Street in Jackson Heights. Overall, dumplings were good as expected. I could imagine these dumplings to hit the spot after a night out on the town!

Cash only, and with the round chicken and crescent beef momo varieties

The restaurant is a few blocks from the main street of Steinway so it'll take a bit of searching. Going inside, the area is rather abstract. Pink flower wallpaper on one end and dry wall on the other, it's kinda off-putting but I didn't come here for the atmosphere anyway. Service was lukewarm, I got my order in but the two workers inside weren't too receptive and the menu itself is kinda barebones with most of their food being a bit more than I would like to pay for so I just settled on one order of Singapore Mei Fun. After waiting 10 minutes for my food to arrive, the Singapore noodles which are usually spicy were kinda salty but it was nothing a bit of duck sauce wouldn't fix. This one order cost $17 while not the worst Singapore Mei Fun...well technically it is, even though it's not horrible but I've had much better from other places for a stable price of $12. The soup was different from other wonton soups with the addition of cilantro and some nice balancing flavors for the salt, and the juicy buns were your classic soup dumplings with a very nice rich sauce to dip in. The dandan noodles my friend ordered were maybe my favorite, they were the perfect level of spicy and so flavorful without being overwhelming. I'd go back just for my own plate of those. The service was quite fast, and it's a cute little shop that feels like a small town Chinese restaurant. Very reasonably priced as well.
