    Rice noodle with chicken.
    john h.

I ordered rice noodles with chicken. I thought I was ordering the thick rice noodles like they have at ABC Bakery. I should have known when they made it fresh. It was actually vermicelli type rice noodles, except thinner. It didn't have much flavor unless you add sauce, it was well prepared though. Service was good, interior is no frills, one table a couple of chairs. Everything was to go, doesn't look like they're encouraging you to sit down and eat, more of place to sit and wait. The Dim Sum looked good.

It's quick & easy. The shumai is huge and at least double the size that you'd get anywhere else. For the price, the quality was good, definitely ate it all. There's nowhere to sit inside, it's really just a grab and go set up.

damnnn sorry man i really wanted to like this but it just wasnt that good. i ordered 3 siu mai and 3 ha gao but like they were not good at all. the ha gao tasted extremely fishy wish it should not taste like man. the skin of it was very mushy as well .... and the flavor of the siu mai just wasnt good unfortunately. and the textures werent up to par either. the woman taking my order was very friendly and nice tho.

This is my go to spot for dim sum! Recommend to go early, to get the best quality. They serve deep fried pork dumplings that are to die for! They only do one batch most times so first come first serve. If you come after me, I'm pretty much taking what's remaining. Now sometimes they're cold cause they aren't kept under a heat lamp, I'd definitely warm them up before eating for the best taste. Sometimes I'm late and left with whatever's left and usually go with their $6.75 lunch special for the day. Yes less than $7 for a giant rice plate made to order, really affordable and tasty. Today I was able to get everything we wanted. Pork steamed buns, steamed shrimp dumplings, steamed pork dumplings, and the fried pork dumplings. Sometimes the lady taking orders sounds rude and very cheap when it comes to the sauce packets but the food makes up for it. If they were more consistent I'd give them a 4 star, but overall for food, service, and quality, it's 3 stars.

I'm on the search to find myself the best walk up dim sum spot in our city. Dim Sum House doesn't take the best for me but it is pretty good. Came in on a Sunday morning and was able to get some of our favorite dim sum items. The siu mai was good and pretty big compared to others I've had but the flavor wasn't better. The har gow was alright but failed to "WOW" me. Prices are pretty cheap for the current economy so that does give the food a plus. There was only one person at the front which may affect service times during peak but there wasn't that many people there at the time so nothing ti complain about that. The ambiance isn't the best as there is only one table in there with chairs around it and the others are stacked up on each other, so don't really expect to dine in. Was it the best? No. (But it is good) Will I ever come back? Yes

BBQ pork buns, pork siu mai, shrimp ha gao for $11 -- serving for two

I came here while waiting in line at the DMV as person number 13. The boyfriend wanted Jack in the Box, while I said we should look around for something different for breakfast. Dim Sum House is a humble, no-frills corner shop with one person behind the counter and a simple menu with dim sum staples, along with lunch specials for around $7. Everything is priced affordably; 4 BBQ pork buns, 3 pork siu mai and 3 ha gao round up to $11, or roughly $5 per person. As for the food itself, it has a home-cooked quality -- savory without being too savory, substantial filling in every bite and flavor familiar enough to satisfy. It's not the prettiest or anything attention-grabbing, but it's a pretty darn good choice in local business to support when you're on the go.

This a good place for take out dim sum. It's nice that you can see all the different kinds of dumplings they have through the glass. I was impressed with the variety they had. So many things to choose from! We ordered a bunch of different items. I really liked the shrimp dumplings the best, because it had good flavor of chives and cilantro. The chicken sui mai was not my favorite because it was on the dry side. The steam buns had too much bao and not enough filling for my taste. The egg tart and wife cake was nice and flaky. Not too sweet and It was delicious! There's a bunch of tasty dim sum and good variety to choose from. I would suggest you come and check it out if you're craving some take out dim sum! Friendly service!

You can taste the umami from the roe and other ingredients that I am not entirely sure are but taste familiar. I enjoyed and loved it. Mapo Tofu - Firm Tofu and good sauce. Although I do enjoy more of a Sichuan-style spicy mapo tofu (with the very numbing taste), I still found this mapo tofu delicious as you can taste the flavor of the pork and sauce coating the tofu. 2 Entree BBQ Platter: Roast Duck and Empress chicken - I'm biased towards roast duck. I love roast duck so any roast duck is good to me. Not a lot of comment on the duck. However, the Empress Chicken is nicely seasoned with the whatever broth they cooked it in. One of the few Empress Chickens where I can enjoy it without the scallion-ginger oil, but the scallion-ginger oil still elevates this Chicken to a higher level. Congee with Pork and Preserved Egg - Comforting and triggers a lot of nostalgic feelings for me. I didn't have to add too much additional soy sauce or chili sauce because the congee has a great base flavor. Preserved egg and pork weren't too chunky, rice was not too "mushy", and the overall congee was in a good thickness to create a nice mouth feel for each bite. Will visit again to try the other dishes.

Drinks aren't rated, as they don't sell house cocktails (though they sell a small selection of beers and wines). All-in-all a solid menu. The dilemma is that we generally felt unwelcome. We came by on a Sunday evening at 6:30 pm (and paid and left by 8:20 pm which is 10 minutes before closing). We were a party of 8 with diverse backgrounds, and with exception to one server (a woman wearing red who was maybe a manager), the staff just weren't friendly toward us. I will say that one woman in red was so kind. She made sure to say "bye" as we left. I will add one of my friends mistakenly tried to take a pair of chopsticks (as they are set on the table in a paper slip). She didn't realize they were store owned/reusable vs throwaway. She quickly apologized, but that became the final straw of awkwardness with the staff. The food was genuinely great with appropriate prices, so I may give it another shot down the road as a date night option.

However, be careful with the specials that are offered when you first sit down. Our waitress, Ling, recommended a "combo" for $30 that included fish bone porridge and pan-fried noodles with fish. The noodles tasted fine, but the portion was quite small. The fish bone porridge was extremely bland--I could barely taste any fish. After looking at the regular menu, I noticed that a plain porridge costs about $5, and a similar pan-fried noodle dish is only around $14-15. Based on those menu prices, the $30 combo did not seem to offer good value and felt significantly overpriced. I would definitely recommend the restaurant for its food, but I also recommend checking the menu prices before accepting any off-menu or verbally recommended specials so you know exactly what you're paying for.

To all my canto peeps, this will be the place where you feel like home. However a tad variation of preferences to taste buds. My family is from a different area from the Mr. with a different flavor profile than his. So here is our take: braised beef noodle soup - we loved but the Mr. loved it more. Soup reminded me of shoyu ramen with garlic. Simple, soothing and flavorful. I loved it but it was missing a few spices I am personally used to such as more spice mix and pickled mustard greens. House Fried Rice (Thursday special) - this was simple yet satisfying. With shrimp and Chinese sausage in it. Carb overload but it was such a comfort food we cant help but finish it. House soup dumplings which we also liked but again he loved this one more also. Again, simple yet flavorful, clean comfort food while i felt the skin was a tad thicker than what I prefer. So this one depends on your preferences. Regardless, this was still good. Ambiance: clean and welcoming. They have a TV screen to highlight their food items with pictures which I always love to help me find what i want to eat. But wont lie, it makes me want to get every item on there. So during rush hour, do expect wait times but I completely understand and don't mind it. I can see they are busy and would rather than go to a place that is slow where the server walks like a sloth. That is always an eye sore to me. Cost: prices are reasonable and same to any other places similar.
