Located just across the street from the Atlantis Casino parking lot, Dim Sum Hut is an oasis for Bay Areans desperately craving dim sum. Although the selection is not extensive here, I can say as of today, 9/3/24, every dim sum item I ordered was very good. The is a clean small space if you'd like to eat there or you can walk up and order to go and they make it right there seemingly from scratch. Small and quaint place located on the Moana street side of the Asian mart. My friend was curious about this place so we went for a lunch date. It wasn't busy and the lady behind the counter helped take our orders. She was super polite and took care of us with a smile. It definitely had a mom and pop feel to it, which I love. We ordered their dim sum platter, egg rolls, and a boba drink. The food came out quick and steaming hot. My favorites were the chicken and mushroom siu mai and the boba drink. I haven't seen that type of dim sum elsewhere and it was full of flavor! The drink was so pretty and the boba added an extra touch to the sweetness. My daughter loved it! This place is a hole in the wall kinda place with the interior of a little girl's bedroom. The interior has painted tulips, makeshift clouds and cute wall stickers. The vibe is very peaceful. They obviously sell dumplings, but also potstickers, boba and rice dishes. But it seems like their menu changes periodically. I had the siu mai (pork with shrimp meat), teriyaki chicken, dark soy sauce chicken wings and char siu bun. Everything was delicious, but my favorite were the dark soy sauce chicken wings. I'm digging this addition to our dim sum scene here in Reno! It has become a go to for us in between soccer games and I've enjoyed all of it and so have my kids. Many of the items seem to be made in house with the usual suspects likely not, but the selection they offer has the classics but is far more unique and authentic than others in town. I was particularly excited to find rolled rice noodles with beef stew on the menu, a dish I've ordered each of the times we've gone. The beef is super tender, the gravy rich, and the rice noodles delightfully bouncy. Their garlic bok choy is also delicious. It doesn't sound special but it takes some skill to get this right. Theirs is steamed to a perfect al dente then wok tossed with garlic for a punch of flavor, it's a great refreshing addition to any meal here. My favorite dumpling here has to be Hor Siu Muk (probably spelled wrong) which is a fried sticky rice "dumpling" stuffed with ground pork seasoned with fragrant five spice. The dumpling "skin" is thick with a crispy exterior and chewy interior, making for a fun texture contrast when eating it. This one is so good we always get two orders. Prices are reasonable and I highly recommend visiting! It's run by the owner, service is a little slower and inconsistent, things arrive in an awkward order sometime i.e. food, then plates, and the atmosphere isn't much to write about. I have been wanting to experience this dim sum place. I finally got the chance when I was in the area. I've been craving chicken feet since there is s lack of that in Reno. I met this wonderful lady that worked there and I could tell the food was going to be good, I just got a good vibe when I came in. The best part was I could order in Cantonese, I have a terrible time going to a Chinese restaurant and trying to order off the menu when no one speaks the language. I ordered the chicken feet and some pork siu mai. The chicken feet was great and some of the largest I have had. We ordered in person and we're told it would be 20 mins. After about 40 minutes opted to take our food to go, then waited another 10 minutes. Maybe they'll pick up the pace as they settle in. The dumplings were good, but not great. I'm not sure anything was made in house honestly. The pork was a bit tough, the dumpling wrappings all too thick, the fillings under seasoned. We stopped in one night 2 minutes before they closed so we decided to come back another day and get something else. I am glad we came back just a few days later. The food was great! They also have a bunch of unique tea flavors. My wife ordered up a Pea Flower Tea of some sort and it was so good I almost stole it from her, but I stuck with my bottle of water. We ordered up... Shrimp Har Gow Pork Siu Mai Brown Sugar Bun Potstickers Meatballs Seasame Balls The pricing for two ended up being around $60 total. Not horrible, but not as cheap as Dim Sum can be in bigger cities with a greater amount of turnover. The Sesame Balls were probably the only thing that didn't have a really unique flavor profile. The best thing of what we ordered was definitely the meatballs. The Shrimp Har Gow was so very very good though...so maybe it might be a toss up now that I think about it. Not "fishy" at all but just shrimpy goodness. The Brown Sugar bun was really unique and fun. A strange umami flavor that I just haven't experienced before. We will go back. And I will get my own Tea! FINALLY! Another option for Dim Sum in this area! This is a cuisine that has been sorely lacking in the Reno food scene. I'm a HUGE fan of Dim Sum, having eaten some of the best in numerous restaurants in and out of the best "Chinatown" enclaves around the country...from San Francisco to New York to Seattle to Los Angeles and beyond. I wasn't disappointed...the food was delicious. Not quite 5 stars, but they're new and I expect the quality to improve as they "get their feet under them". It's a small space with a few low and high tables to sit at. Sparsely decorated, but it still felt welcoming. Definitely designed for take-out as much for dine-in, but still comfortable. A tv next to the counter had the news on it with the sound on...nope...I don't go to a restaurant to be barraged by news...I go to get a respite from the rest of the world and enjoy food. I suggested to the chef/owner that they put some music on to enhance the atmosphere. She said they hadn't yet worked out putting a system in to do that. I suggested that she just turn the tv to a music channel since every "cable" service offers music channels and she said she'll do that starting the next day...after she has her counter guy show her how to do that...LOL... I came by after work just before they closed at 7pm, so they just turned the tv off...I was happy for that. You order your food at the counter and the guy that serves as the cashier also brought the food out to my table. I ordered a few items and was pleased with my choices: #18 Egg Rolls 4pc [$6.99] Crispy and hot straight out of the fryer. There's no description of the ingredients on the menu, but I didn't care what was in it. It was a great balance of flavors and texture. After reading all the amazing reviews on Yelp, I'm a bit disappointed with my take out order. I ordered basic items, shrimp har gow, siu mai, buns, and ribs. The ribs in black bean sauce were my favorite dim sum item that I ordered. Another good dish was the beef stew with rolled noodles. Very soft meat, and rolled noodles were VERY soft and the dish was delicious. Huge portion size too! Here's the reason for my low review: the HK style cream/custard buns. I took one bite and all the cream/custard spilled out and made a huge mess, it was VERY liquidy, and these usually aren't like this? So I was a bit confused. What had really made me lose my appetite was the fact that the buns actually tasted like fish, and the custard/cream had a grainy texture, as if it wasn't mixed properly? I tried the buns the next day to see if they still tasted fishy, even after separating them from the rest of my food, and it was still fishy tasting and also still grainy and all the liquid inside spilled out after one bite. read more

We ordered a few items to-go: the beef stew & rice, teriyaki chicken & rice, Spam & pineapple fried rice, an order of the char siiu and pork & vegetable buns, an order of pork w/ shrimp and chicken w/ vegetables sui mai and pot stickers. There was enough food to feed 5 people and all at a reasonable price; I think the total was a little less than $70. We've been back a couple more times for take out and everything is super impressive! By far the best dim sum Reno has to offer. The sui mai is big and juicy with a very clean flavor. The har gow is done well. The chicken feet and steamed pork ribs are good. The spam fried rice was really good, too!! The deep fried pork ribs are chicken wings were nothing to rave about. They were plainly seasoned and served with a side of sweet chili sauce. Both kinds of creamy buns are very yummy. I couldn't choose a favorite. The buns are soft and the inside has a sweet and slightly salty custard. My favorite by far is the ham sui gok. It's a deep fried mochi ball with meat on the inside. It's crunchy, chewy and super umami. Don't sleep on ordering this-- it's amazing! The Thai lemon green tea is my favorite. Super refreshing and has a nice jelly. The super fruit tea is also nice. It's got a floral tea base and is jam packed with fresh fruits. We usually call ahead for pick up and it is ready in 30 min or less. The service is always friendly. She explained to me that the Health Department requires everything to be refrigerated or frozen but I have frequently gone to buy Dim Sum at The Honey Bakery and their Dim Sum is freshly baked and delicious. I was close by this place and I thought that I would try it. The wait was about twenty minutes and I was the only customer so it took some time to heat the steamed Pork Buns up. They don't sell the buns individually. There are three buns in the order. Perhaps other items are good but I personally prefer freshly made. The 'Dim Sum House' is located at 115 E. This is the best dim sum I have found in Reno so far. The food is okay. The staff was friendly. It is like 3.5 stars. The tapioca balls in the milk tea is a little rubbery for my preference. I wouldn't call this a dine-in restaurant. It is more like a pick up/to-go place. You order at the counter, and they bring you the food to your empty table. There are no napkins or condiments or anything on the tables. The condiments all come packed in a togo container even if you eat there. The plates and togo containers are both Styrofoam ( I felt bad using both). They sell bottled water but don't offer water when you eat there. I would recommend ordering the food to go, but eat there if you choose. It's great to see that Reno has a new option for dim sum. read more

This is a small dim sum restaurant next to the Asian market. I've heard some good things so we decided to try it out. I think it's maybe it's ran by maybe one or two people at a time. The lady who took our order I believe also cooked it. We tried the chicken wings, sesame balls, pork buns, brown sugar creamy buns, shrimp har gow and pork siu mai. I also ordered the Tai lemon green tea which was nice and refreshing. Every things was really good but I especially loved the crispness of the chicken wings and I'm a sucker for a good sesame ball. The pork buns dough was nice and fluffy and the filling was not too sweet, which I enjoyed. I was not a fan of the brown sugar creamy buns because it tasted like sweet egg yolk, I believe that is what it is supposed to be filled with, just not to my taste. Everything came out fast and it was super hot. The only down side is they don't really have a lot of dipping sauces. So you will have to ask for soy sauce or chilli oil if you want it. I've eaten here now a couple of times, and it's probably the best thing we have going in Reno right now when it comes to dim sum. It's a small place with limited offerings, but most dishes are good to very good, while only one seemed to need a bit of work to perfect. We had several orders of chicken feet, which were cooked to absolute perfection. Succulent, tender and full of flavor. A must order for me. The Fried pork spareribs were excellent as well, and just fell from the bone in an explosion of flavor. Yum! The Pork siu mai were large and tender, however, if you order these, then you probably don't need to order the meatballs as they are very similar items save for the wrapping on the siu mai. We had both the brown sugar bun and the HK style creamy bun, and I much preferred the HK style bun, which was just loaded with a custardy creamy delightful filling. The only dish we felt that fell flat were the shrimp har gow, which had a tough, doughy and undercooked wrapper that was a bit off-putting. Absolutely gotta try the rice noodles with the special hoisin sauce and the dim sum platters amazing

Absolutely LOVE this place. I've seen a couple complaints about the price, it's very inexpensive, and that they sat for 40 minutes....Um, when open, I go to this restaurant 1 - 3 times per week. $8 for 4 pieces of dim sum is VERY cheap. Not sure it you go out often. $25 - $30 at a fast food restaurant. I've never sat for 10 minutes before food came out let alone 40 minutes. Will keep eating here, authentic Chinese food. read more

Going to the Asian Market on Moana and see a DimSum sign.....excitement ensues!!! Oh and they have boba tea.......um yes totally trying that!!! Totally tried it . HarGow: Pork Suimai: possibly got chicken ones. Pork Bun: best consistency I have seen locally and the filling was well stuffed and equally fresh!!! Fried Pork Ribs: fresh hot and right from the kitchen. Super tender and moist for being deep fried. Coconut Matcha Tea: 10/10 highly recommend this was so refreshing. More so than I anticipated it to be. We asked for additional sauce options. She brought us crisped chili oil and their crazy hot sauce that they make here. Both had exceptional flavoring. That crazy how's heat snuck up mid bite and hot.damn was it hot lol. Atmosphere was cute, staff was friendly and our food was great. They have only been open for a month, go try them out, and let's get these folks on the map!!! read more
