Veggie items to go

I prefer not to eat at buffets because I eat like a bird, or so I've been told. But my brother doesn't. Ha! He was here visiting from L.A. and I joined our parents and him to eat lunch on a Saturday. The food is definitely fresh. I ate tabbouli, stuffed grape leaves, rice, okra and hummus. I wasn't that hungry. The baklava was delicious and not soggy. I tried a cookie with jam too. Very good! They need better quality napkins. I was shocked when I went to the cash register to pay. With tax, I paid $25.97. Ouch! The buffet is worth it if you eat meat and are a decent eater. I'm not returning unless it's to pick up food to go as you pay for weight.

Dimassi's Mediterranean Food was absolutely delicious. Everything from the savory dishes to the desserts was full of flavor and clearly made with care. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, which made the experience even better. The buffet had a great variety, the food was fresh, and the price was very reasonable for the quality and selection you get. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving good Mediterranean food.

New Dimassi's Buffet location and great quality. Service and atmosphere: The team members were all friendly, helpful, and appreciative of food quality comments. The restaurant was clean and well organised. This location offers good number of tables and plenty of parking spaces outside. Food and drinks: The selection is very good and all foods on display looked fresh and healthy. The foods had good flavours and seasoning. You will definitely receive Authentic Mediterranean Cuisine at this Dimassi's Restaurant! Pricing: $$ inexpensive for the quality and well worth it. Come and check it out!

My guilty pleasure in Houston is Dimassi's because the food quality is great for the price and I just love Mediterranean food. Just recently opened and the restaurant is very clean. Workers are very friendly, attentive, and they came by more than I expected to ask how we were doing and clean up our plates. Foods range from hummus to salads to gyros. They also lamb shanks! Also vegetarian-friendly. I have been to other locations and I think the salads and pita bread here taste more fresh - I would literally come back just for the bread. Price is well worth all the food that you get. I wish they branch out to other states!

Such tasty food

The food is just ok. Not authentic Mediterranean but adequate. Not a lot of spice or flavor. It's a standard American buffet. It's clean.

But then I learned about the mac and cheese... And saw that there is an option to add brisket to it. Done deal. And getting a pint was the perfect amount because I was nice and full after. The way the place is laid out, you go in, hop in line, and then claim a table after paying. A science specifically says not to hold the table before paying because it's unfair... First time I have seen a sign like that, but I get it. Honestly I was expecting just a sprinkle of brisket on top of the mac, but it was a hefty amount, and WOW WOW was it good! I added both of the homemade sauces to my food so I could taste the differences. The kick was nice, but I really did love the sweeter one. The sausage was good too, but I wish I got the jalapeno cheese one. I had opted not to since I already had so much mac and cheese. As if the barbecue wasn't good enough, they had a bar with a really friendly bartender who is eager to give city recommendations. It was thursday, and they had tequila deals, including some very strong $6 margaritas. We only did one round, and that was all we needed. We were also able to watch the World Cup game there. It was a total vibe and I know I would go back whenever I visit again. Geez, what is the other BBQ like in the city?!

However, last night, my friends and I were having dinner and we were there for about an hour and 45 minutes ...we had wine ,dinner and dessert. We felt like we spent an appropriate amount of money when a very nice young lady came to our table who was apparently the manager, and told us that our time was up at the table that the other people were waiting and that we really needed to leave.! I have never had that happen in a restaurant even in a Michelin star restaurant have I been asked to leave because my time at the table was up.! It really ruined our experience and it made us feel very rushed quickly, jumping up and getting out of the place. I have not seen these friends in a long time and I just really hated the way it ended... I suppose I will go back because I do love the food there, however, I know I will be on a timeframe when I walk in there, and I will be thinking about that the whole time I'm sitting at the table Has anyone else ever had this happen in any restaurant ever???? What a shame!

We tried the turkey, brisket, and jalapeño sausage, and every one of them was delicious. The brisket was especially impressive--moist, incredibly tender, and so soft you didn't even need a knife to cut it. The sides were very good, but the meats were definitely the highlight of the meal. One thing we really appreciated was the toppings bar, which included pickles, onions, pickled onions, jalapeños, and two different barbecue sauces so you could customize each bite. They even had a mini soft-serve ice cream machine for a little dessert after your meal, which was a nice touch. They also offer family meal options, making it a great choice for larger groups. The restaurant was clean, had plenty of seating, and the staff was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. If you're looking for excellent halal barbecue in the Houston area, Levant is definitely worth a visit!

The kitchen line has lots of workers happy to help with questions and let you see/try anything you are not sure about as they have some non-traditional options for a BBQ place. Having said that, all the food options work so well together. I got brisket and chicken. Chicken was fine but I'd skip it and go brisket all the way. It was so tender and juicy. They have several sauce options. You can't go wrong with any. They were in the middle of construction/expansion but there are still lots of seating options in or outside. I would definitely go back here instead a typical BBQ place. The flavors just hit so well together. And the Mediterranean style is clearly a healthier option. Do not miss out if you're on weathermen near the galleria!

The cocktails are unique, beautifully presented, and well balanced. We started with the paani puri, which was also presented beautifully. The crudo was a refreshing way to begin the meal, while the shrimp added a nice savoury contrast. The highlight, however, was definitely the butter chicken experience. I would come back for this dish alone. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was incredibly rich and delicious, especially when paired with the naan. I honestly haven't had a better butter chicken since. Overall, Musaafer delivers a memorable experience through its atmosphere, presentation, and standout dishes. This time I called in an order for tallarines saltados and two whole chickens for my family. They told me it would be ready in an hour, which was fine. When I arrived to pick it up, the owner handed me the food and casually said he replaced my tallarines with lomo saltado -- without asking me first. He said it was "a better choice" and that they were out of tallarines. I told him clearly that I did not want lomo saltado, but he kept insisting, so I just took it to avoid arguing. When we got home, the real problem started -- both chickens were undercooked, tough, and hard to chew. It was so bad that I told my kids and family not to eat any of it, and I ended up throwing everything in the trash. I paid good money for this meal, and we didn't get to eat at all. This is a nicely sized spot next to the Jusgo plaza in Houston Chinatown, so plenty of parking and also food options. It's tucked in a corner but should not be written off. Its a pretty casual sitdown restaurant and we were welcomed and sat pretty quickly on a Saturday around 8:30PM. We were provided menus and started ordering everything that sounded good (within reason for 2, sorta). We ended up getting the Uyghur polo with lamb shank, Uyghur goshnaan, korma chop, garlic cucumbers, mint tea, and a yogurt for dessert. This was more than enough food for 2 but I wanted to try a bunch and this is me holding back. The Uyghur goshnaan was very crispy and the filling was flavorful and juicy, good lamb flavor and nice spices. The Uyghur polo with lamb shank was great and the pilaf had a nice sweetness with raisins that cut through some of the fatty richness of the lamb. The korma chop was also super flavorful with a nice savory sauce and noodled with an excellent texture, very QQ. I don't usually order cucumbers at Asian restaurants cause I can make a cucumber salad pretty easily at home but the one here was very good. Excellent refreshing crunch and garlic flavor to go with all the other dishes. The mint tea was also nice to wash down the mountains of food I was inhaling. I also enjoyed the yogurt, it's a thicker yogurt like a Greek yogurt and topped with honey and raisins. Again, a nice sweet/tart treat that didn't feel too heavy after everything else. I definitely need to come back as I didn't even get my big plate chicken but it'll be hard to choose between all the options. I def recommend this spot, esp if you like lamb as all the dishes we had were excellent and priced fairly for the portion and current economic situation.
